Well done on the 6 months, that is a great achievement.
  • Evening, a sense of routine is now back on the horizon.

    No gambling.

However some spending has meant my debt payment has slowed down. Thankfully no new debt created..

    - The management company for our estate requested £225 per household
    - Wifes' car needed new tyres, brakes and disks plus MOT £470
    - Wife's Birthday £125

All just about within our budgets. Just about to head onto a group therapy session.

  • Incredible achievement. 6 months gamble free tomorrow is fantastic.

Don't beat yourself up too much about not attacking the debt as quickly as previous months. There are peaks and troughs throughout the year. Things come up. When you look at the yearly average you'll see you've already achieved so much.

For next year, factor in these types of costs (wife's birthday will come around the same time every year!) and the management company will probably ask for more in the future too, so look to build up a bit of a pot for these things. 10 a month will sort you out for next year's birthday, for instance.

Keep going - you're doing great.
  • I agree maybe start a sinking fund for annual one off expenses. For housing costs maybe average out the last few years service charges. It's what I do for my dad's as it's an as and when something is needed type of charge
