. Morning all,
Thank you so much for all your kind and supportive words — it genuinely means a lot.
It’s been a long stretch now without a gamble, and I’m proud of that. With just one week to go until the London Marathon, training has really helped keep my focus elsewhere and given me something positive to work towards.
Financially, things are starting to look a bit better. I’ve moved my car loan onto a credit card using a 0% money transfer, which should help me clear it more quickly and manage things more effectively.
Overall, I’m just ticking along at the moment — steady progress.
One thing I’ve definitely noticed is how expensive food has become. Whether it’s a small shop or a full weekly one, it all adds up. We’re currently spending somewhere between £125–£185 a week for a family of four, which feels a lot.
Thanks again for the continued support — it really does make a difference.

Well done. I must have missed that you were doing the London marathon - how fab.
Moving everything to 0% was how we finally got out of debt. It's very satisfying seeing that every penny you pay back comes off the bottom line.
Yes, food prices are high! I got told recently of a butcher who intends packing it all in within a few weeks cos he can't make enough profit to make ends meet and his customers can't afford the prices he now has to charge.
I think you have tots rather than teens? (afraid they usually eat more when older!) and that Mrs LG also works f-time, so I'm guessing not a huge amount of time to make things from scratch? Meal planning, trying budget supermarkets, signing up for loyalty cards and making the most of anything reduced all helps but you may be doing this already,

Delinking to say well done on everything you have achieved. Enjoy taking part in the marathon.
