Cheery's path to fulfilment - finishing the DIY, looking after myself, appreciating the garden ๐ป

Ha, I read that quickly there RT and thought you'd said it would allow you to get on with your to do list and some eating ๐ excellent priorities ๐
Yes. Well. It was rather an ambitious list but the end of the day has arrived regardless ๐ I'm never sure whether I pack anything more in than other people - I sometimes think I just talk about it in more detail so it sounds like more ๐ I certainly do less of what other people might consider necessary in terms of ironing/ cleaning etc so that does give me extra time ๐๐
Anyway,ย most of today's list did actually get done!! ๐ฎ walked past the gym but didn't pop in, didn't prep any food (we're going to do build your own pizzas, I'm dispatching Mr Cheery to the shop in the morning with a list as I just couldn't face Mr A today). Also didn't get the flute out ๐
But the beds are all ready, guest rooms are cleaned, I did 2 loads of washing (SUCH an excellent drying day today!!) And changed our sheets as well.ย Rest of the house is passable and Mr Cheery has promised to run the hoover round etc tomorrow afternoon.ย
VERY pleased with my treasure hunt ๐๐ there's a map filled into a scroll,ย and 10 clues,ย as requested ๐ one is a rhyme, one a catchphrase-like 'say what you see' job, there's a tiny home made jigsaw with 4 wavy pieces, some instructions,ย an anagram,ย one that involves a name of one of the kids and one that involves filling the missing words into a song that ๐ all written on the back of a stack of patterned postcards that have been cluttering up my craft room for about 5 years ๐ and put into sandwich bags because there's thundery showers forecast for the exact time ๐๐
Also decluttering a couple of little tins that I like but I've had knocking around for yonks.ย
Working out the cost... I've spent
ยฃ6 on 2 wooden treasure chests (ยฃ3 each)
ยฃ3 on 2 little games - they have water in and you press a button trying to get hoops on a stick
ยฃ2.50 on chocolate coins - didn't hold out much hope at this time of year but fortunately we have a specialist sweet shop - they have skulls & crossbones on them too ๐
ยฃ1 on a packet of jewel stickers - they've got half each
ยฃ2 on two boxes of glow in the dark stickers
ยฃ1.50 on two large bubble wands
=ยฃ16 in total,ย not too bad. Could have done it cheaper with more time for creativity in the treasure but still not bad. We'll be decorating the treasure boxes inside while it's raining and I've not bought anything new for that - hoping to slightly diminish some of my own craft supplies ๐
So,ย tomorrow. Need to leave at 12, and before then...
* put all the clues out! ๐
* practice flute ๐
* maybe hooverย
* paint nails
* possibly knock up some bunting for the washing line ๐๐7 -

Ha, yes I'll keep all the clues and we can have an MSE re-run ๐ Or maybe we'll need a whole new set of MSE themed clues! ๐
There are SO many treasure hunt ideas online ๐ I was thinking of doing all clues as riddles or rhymes, but ended up with quite a variety after a bit of a mooch round the Internet. There are also a surprising number of pirate place name generators ๐๐ I didn't use them, but if you ever need a party idea... ๐
I also made liberal use of YouTube 'how to draw' videos (I have a monkey swinging by its tail in a clue, and a cow on the map) ๐ my independent drawings bear little resemblance to reality so I had to have some assistance!6 -
Treasure Hunt devising sounds almost as much fun as the hunt itself ๐ฆ๐ดโโ ๏ธโ ๐ต5

Aw, thank you all, we had the best time, and the kids declared it to be the BEST DAY EVER ๐ I highly suspect they will have several BEST DAY EVERs during their holiday this week, but it's nice to have provided one of them ๐ฅฐ
Tomorrow they have asked to wash my utterly filthy car ๐๐ I PROMISE I did NOT suggest this ๐๐ but I did buy a couple of giant sponges for the job ๐๐ Let's see if that's the BEST DAY EVER too ๐๐
I'll definitely be saving the treasure hunt clues for next time anyone comes round with small kids (which isn't very often).
Concert this afternoon was cheerful, and we have been invited back next year ๐ So no more band practices now for me til September. Do still need to practice though!ย
I have promised pancakes for breakfast to fuel the car-washing exploits ๐ And then we're meeting Mr Cheery's friends at 8pm. Very much feeling in need of a rest!10 -
The treasure hunt sounded wonderful, in awe of your creativity, and yes there probably are ideas on the net but you used them, and tbh I'd never have thought of looking for how to draw videos on youtube.ย Sounds wonderful.ย I think car washing might also be a great day too at your house.Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!4 -
I have very fond memories of my Nan's treasure hunts.ย I have tried but they take quite some time and imagination to create.ย I am not sure how she did it as we had new clues and hiding spots all of the time.

I do hope they had dry clothes available as washing cars is no fun unless you get soaked through.
