Cheery's path to fulfilment - finishing the DIY, looking after myself, appreciating the garden 🌻

My niece and nephew always wanted to wash my car when they were little (it never got washed otherwise!). They were always stripped down to their pants unless they had swimming stuff with them.4

They did have to go home in their pjs... 🙄😂 But both of our cars, and their own, are now considerably cleaner than they were atthr start 😂 Only one mishap, when one child accidentally caught the other with a bucket of cold rinsing water 😮🤭😂
I am VERY tired now, off for a nap...14 -
Evening chums 😊
Feeling a lot calmer this week. I think having my out of office on all last week helped (I was working, but at events etc) - gave me a bit of breathing space and a reason not to reply to everything as it came in. Monday was a day of wading through emails etc, but I then had a really good handle on what needs doing before I'm off, and have been slowly ploughing through it, so that's good.
Nothing much else to report. Not been particularly spendy. Finally planted out the lobelia I bought the other week, and fitted the water butt. Oh, and emailed the windows people about coming round for a quote.
Only going to the office one day this week (tomorrow) so a bit of diesel saved. Breakfast and lunch is packed for tomorrow.
I feel like I came in here with something specific to tell you but I now can't remember what it was... 🤔 Maybe I'll remember in the morning...
Oh (it wasn't this, but never mind) I went swimming this morning, and have booked a spin class and swimming twice again later in the week. Determined to make the most of the gym membership, and have started a table in my notebook so I can keep track of the equivalent pay as you go costs of everything.
Mr Cheery has booked a free 3 day pass for the weekend - having literally never been to a gym this is quite the thing. We'll see...12 -

I suspect it won't become a regular thing but you never know!6

Afternoon MSE chums 😊
Spin class yesterday was cheerful - they'd wheeled all the spin bikes outside onto the front of the leisure centre, which is happily situated in a park, so we had a lovely view (and lots of people staring at us) 😂
Mr Cheery and I are off to the gym shortly, will report back.
I've been having a relatively lazy morning, lying around, reading and writing on the swing seat 😊 But I did get some washing done and pegged out (it's a lovely drying day!) and did half an hour of weeding in the front garden 😊
Oh, and I've also booked for someone to come and do a quote for windows on Tuesday, same people who fitted the rest. We need one completely replacing and a few others possibly just one misted up pane. Got some saved in a pot, but I want to know how much we're aiming for. Would be good to get them done while I'm off over the summer - another job ticked off 😊7 -
So, the gym was a success 😊😊 helped in sure by being very empty! We just did 35 mins, rather gently - going back tomorrow so didn't want to overdo it!
Nipped to Mr A (how is it even possible to spend £71 on a not-even-full small trolley of food with no booze and no middle ailse stuff??)
Spent the rest of the afternoon in the garden, gently weeding the bed opposite the patio. Looks much better now. Cut up all the roses into tiny pieces in a trug for the tip tomorrow. We have some lovely roses, but these ones never flower, they just grow super giant thorns. One landed me at the MINOR (not 'minute' as I originally wrote 😂) injuries unit a few years back as my hand swelled up and went stiff 🙄

That’s good about the gym. They are definitely only acceptable to me when very quiet, but as Mr Cheery is retired-ish he can probably avoid the crowds if he decides to join.
Food is so expensive now. Gone are the days when a trip to Al’s would result in a week’s worth of food for £40. 😏
Those thorns look vicious!Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

The dastardly rose has amazing thorns! Must have put all its effort into growing those bad boys4

I know! They're enormous and could do some serious damage 😮 Definitely digging it up - i don't need a super neat and tidy garden but i can't see as it's earning its place at the minute!
Today will involve (once I'm out of bed 🤭) a quick tip run with thorny roses and glass to recycle, and a trip to the post office. Gym later, and other than that more gardening I think, and a decision about whether we go away in early August or not (and if so where).8
