Thanks both 😊 She's fine, just a bit shaken and with a rather larger ankle than she had this morning. She works for the NHS so they have pretty well documented procedures, but she's already been through several stages of disciplinary about the number of sickness absence episodes she's had. But what do they expect people to do in this type of situation, just carry on regardless?? I'm hoping they will be pretty sensible about it, this isn't part of a specific pattern, it was a genuine accident.
She's only got 7 months left til retirement though - I can't decide whether they'll think it's easier to get rid of her at this point or whether they'll think it's not worth the bother of a formal process because she'll be gone soon anyway. I can't imagine this will trigger dismissal, whatever stage she's at - I think she could appeal if she was dismissed for an afternoon off after falling over in the works car park, even if she had previously been off for other things!
Nice charity shop find this morning - £2 for a sealed black box that just said '100% essential oil" and a small address 🤔 Some kind of gift set, but it wasn't possible to see what it contained, and the bow round it was missing leaving the plastic covering a bit sticky. Took a punt and I'm glad I did - 8 little bottles of 100% essential oil, each one of which would have cost probably double the £2 cost of the whole lot. My baths and cleaning products will be smelling beautiful for a good while! 😃8 -
Pot hole in the car park which she couldn't see in the dark or was full of water which masked it.

My thoughts exactly BM - make sure mum gets things recorded in the accident book Cheery.

Is your Mum in a union and as above did she fall on uneven ground etc. The union should be able to help her if her bosses are stupid.

As far as I know there was no pothole or anything, she just went over on her ankle. She did (obviously) tell her boss but I'll check it went in the accident book. It was lunchtime though (so not dark!) and she'd only gone outside to meet my sister to collect my birthday cake 😂 Suspect she's not in the union 🙄3

Oh Cheery your poor Mum - and you too, having to do more travelling after your hectic couple of weeks - not ideal I imagine! I would hope they would have the common sense not to involve an accident in their own car park in any action they might want to take against her for sickness though! Just went through and reconciled YNAB - a bit of a monster effort as I hadn't done it since 14th April, so all my last lot of wages etc weren't even allocated for this month, what a mess! Still, it's done now. Last month was rather spendy, what with a new (Second hand) guitar for Mr Cheery and our trip away for my birthday, and new (plastic) panes for the greenhouse. Still, we'd amassed £631 in the monthly savings pot (£408 standard savings, plus a couple of bank switches - although that now seems an odd amount, but my eyes are swimming so I'm not going back to check) Anyway, everything is covered, and we still managed to add some to the new windows fund and to the holiday pot for our trip to Ireland at the end of the month to see our friends
Most things are paid for with the trip - ferry, cottage, hotel the night before the ferry, travel insurance. We'll buy food etc while we're there, and likely do a bit of touristy stuff with our friends, and maybe treat them too. Also need to investigate whether the car insurance and breakdown covers Ireland - I suspect not, so that might involve a bit of extra expense too.
Bit of a weird thing with the latest bank switch to S@ntand3r - Mr Cheery mentioned he'd had an email, and I assumed it was the same as the one I'd had (which basically said the same as the letters that turned up) but he forwarded it on, and it actually said they thought he already had an account with them, and he should print this form and post with ID so they could merge his accounts... He's never had an account with them, so no idea what's happened there, and they've said the account is open so no reason to merge with whatever account they think he has, so won't be sending ID. It does raise the question of whether he'll get the switch incentive though, if they think he already had an account...
Anyway, will investigate further tomorrow...

Ooh your poor Mum, I hope her ankle heals quickly.
Does Mr Cheery have the same name as Mr Cheery snr? Could it be that, although the obviously have different dates of birth 🤔Fashion on a ration 2025 0/66 coupons spent

Good suggestion, but Mr Cheery invented his surname and is, I believe, the only one in the world 😂 So goodness knows what they're playing at! 😂
Came to visit my mum's, and me and sister went to retrieve my birthday cake from her car - but not the car as it seems neither of us are insured to drive anyone else's. But that's ok - she can get the bus in on Tuesday and collect then, or she has local pals who may be able to help.
I offered to help with other stuff while I'm here - we changed the bed and I imparted the great wisdom that you don't have to change ALL of the bed clothes on the same day... 😱😂 I rarely take all the bedclothes off first - I take the duvet cover off, then put the new one on, then swap the pillowcases, then the sheets. So if anything happens and I get distracted, or I really can't be bothered, I still have a functioning bed and can come back and swap the rest the next day 😂 I don't usually do this, but it's saved me on occasion, and my mum was very taken with the idea which had apparently never occurred to her 😂
Also got roped in to changing the latch on the bathroom door, which is NOT simple - especially after the newly bought chisel sheered off after 10 minutes 🙄 In reality it was too long and thin for the job, but the wood is very soft and it really shouldn't have broken, so she'll be taking that back. I've had to bodge the rest with a combination of drilling and a screwdriver - would have been quicker to go back to B&Q myself but hindsight is a wonderful thing and I'm almost done now.
Probably won't be leaving here for another hour, so not home til 9, but at least the forecast for tomorrow looks slightly brighter than it did!8 -
That’s an odd one Cheery - particularly allowing that as you say, Mr Cheery doesn’t exactly have a common name, does he now! 😂😂
damn - you’ve reminded me that we stripped our bed this morning, and haven’t yet made it up again. Having said that, the bedding dried beautifully out in the line so we can at least put the same stuff straight back on - which means it will smell LUSH tonight!🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡
