Well, just checked the banking thread for the offer and the T&Cs copied there just say you have to transfer money in within 60 days of opening, which it is. So fingers crossed! Will check Mr Cheery's DDs later. And now I need to go to work rather than just talking to you in the car park 😂11

Cheery - I empathize with the flagged "fraud" - I do wonder about the programming behind the AI, truth be told.
I've just had an interesting experience with one of my cards. I recently put a very large purchase (annual train pass) on the card which went through with no problems and was paid off the following month! (Think in the thousands, not hundreds.) That particular card is only used for large purchases and any coffee shop apps I use when having work meetings over coffee (claimable expense iyswim). Said card also has lovely cashback offers, so last weekend, I needed to make another large, planned online purchase & suddenly my card was locked. When I called to ask why they claimed suspected FRAUD. I went through all the questions with the very hard to understand overseas representative but did retort snidely and ask what business it was of his what my mortgage payments were given they were not with his bank, and also told him the limits on my other cards were also none of his business & told him to ask me other questions. Well - his response was - the computer says no - you will need to wait for a letter in the mail. Well said letter is still pending, more than a week later & I can't get into my account online to access a credit of a few hundred that is sitting on the card! GRRRRRR4 YEARS 10 MONTHS DEBT FREE!!! (24 OCT 2016)(With heartfelt thanks to those who have gone before us & their indubitable generosity.)...and now I have a mortgage! (23 AUG 2021)New projection - 14 YEARS 10 MONTHS LEFT OF 20 YEARS (reduced by 15 mths)Psst...I may have started a diary!4 -
Gosh RT, that is very vexing!!4

I got rather frustrated when trying to purchase gift cards to get a discount before buying a new TV. Despite sending me a OTP which I duly inputted, the transaction was blocked and I had to call the bank. Took best part of an hour to get through and get it approved - involving a huge amount of questioning over whether I was being coerced to buy the gift cards.
I complained that there was no point sending a OTP if they were then going to block the transaction anyway - I got compensation for the time it took to resolve but the bank was adamant that their fraud protection was proportionate.
Thankfully not had the issue when subsequently purchasing gift cards from the same merchant so hopefully they are white-listed now and I've also been given a direct line to their fraud team to circumvent the waiting time if it happens again but it was rather frustrating at the time.6 -
Happy belated birthday Cheery, sounds a lovely weekend away. Coco pops very moreish. Can't resist those little boxes when we're having breakfast in hotels etc 😋3

I prefer eating coco pops by the fistful, which is why I no longer buy them.

What a fiasco CCW007!
And thank you Scandimore 😊 I do love a hotel breakfast, but it's never worth the money for me as I always just have cereal and toast 😂
Gosh, I am VERY ready for a long weekend! I've gone straight from conference, to staying with a friend, to a weekend away, to four hefty (and very long) days of work, culminating in 6 hours of meetings today and over 12 hours out of the house, and I am ready to drop!
Going to have to make the most of tomorrow, because my mum is coming on Saturday, and staying over, and then we're going to Mr Cheery's dad's on Monday. Going to need another weekend to recover I think 🙄
Still, I have no plans for tomorrow except a cafe breakfast and starting off my new notebook 😂 And I'll need to do a few house tasks - Mr Cheery has done some washing which will need hanging out/up (might hang inside tonight for a head start), and neither of the spare rooms are in any fit state to put my mother in 🙄 Grass needs strimming or else the postie will need wellies, although tomorrow's forecast isn't great... 🙄
Hey ho. We did go food shopping last night so that's one less thing, and the house overall is in a reasonable state, will just need to run the hoover round.
An early night tonight, I think!6 -
Well, it looks like my mum won't be visiting after all, as she has fallen over in the car park at work while trying to retrieve my birthday cake from my sister 🙄 She's now gone home with a large swollen ankle, and left both her car and my cake at work 🙄 Unlikely she'll be able to drive nearly 2 hours here tomorrow, and the same back on Sunday, so I imagine I'll be going over there. Let's hope the boss doesn't count this afternoon as being off sick (although I suspect they will) as she's already on a disciplinary for sickness for other reasons 🙄
Hey ho. I can do nothing about either her ankle or her sickness record, so I'm going to carry on with my cleaning (but not make the spare bed up just yet...).
In other news, £11.61 received from We Buy Books, and £30 in birthday cash from relatives so May's extra cash stash is off to a good start 😊
Might need a cuppa now after all that excitement before I carry on with the hoovering 😂10 -

Your poor Mum. Both of you must be upset about this. As if someone can help being sick. Some employers are (edited). Union membership becoming more of a necessity than ever.
