Oh what a disappointing experince!  Definately one for the review sites - I know I really value reviews when going to somewhere I've not been to previously.

Good grief - buyer has to pay if seller has sent incorrect item?  That's ridiculous - is it even legal?  Definately sending back!

I contacted the big river site via their chat feature on the weekend to complain (and return) a pair of earbuds that stopped working less than a year after purchase - it was the easiest no-nonsense interaction i've ever had with them! - RM will be picking up my package on Tuesday & refund will be processed pretty much as soon as they scan it.  I was pleasently shocked - don't think I'll ever be asking for a call back via the site only to talk to an overseas call centre - much easier to communicate via writing.

Apparently so - from a very quick scout round the Internet it seems that as the transaction is technically between two individuals the consumer laws don't apply 🙄 of course the seller can choose to pay postage if they wish. Fortunately in this case not necessary.

To be fair the seller was very quick to respond and offer a refund and I've not had to pay postage in the end.  Thankful that I listened to my intuition (for once) and Mark it as received when I picked it up - I very nearly did,  without even opening it!)

Glad you had a good experience with an online refund @rtandon27- it wouldn't even have occurred to me to send them back after that long.  I learn so much from you lot!!

Recently we too returned an item to the big river site, once it was scanned by the drop off point our refund was instantly processed.

I was all prepared to quote SADFART too!  (I had to the past two times and remind them of UK distance selling laws.) When buying from a retailer, the contract is with them, so these did not even last the one year warranty & got returned.  I also kept all the packaging as I had a feeling this pair would be no better than the previous 2 from the same brand even though each time, I bought the next version up!  I've now graduated from made in China to made in Germany - they are of course more expensive but the sound is better & they connect to more than one device!
