PennysIntoPounds said:Just caught up on your diary @Cheery_Daff after 'meeting' you properly on our Getting Things Done threads, and blimey, you've been an absolute star for Mr CD Sr! Hope he's settled now?
And well done for pursuing the Halfords and LPG issues, I was seething on your behalf!
And happy belated birthday, love the bunting on the washing line 😊
Still some way to go with getting the right support in place for Mr C Snr but at least the house isn't literally falling down round his ears now 😬 although how much longer he'll be in it, I don't know. We'll see. Wheels are very slowly in motion.
Anyway. We are on holiday 😊 just for a long weekend. A night in a cheap Premier Inn, an excellent charity shop haul in Weston Super Mare, and now we are happily ensconced in our air bnb with our pals from Germany 😊 a whole programme of activities is organised by the birthday girl (who has summoned quite a lot of us to Cornwall, it seems) but the first organised thing isn't til this evening.
Slept badly last night and ended up in the spare tiny bedroom - fine, except I feel like I woke up every 15 minutes and now feel like a rag doll, and Mr C just woke me up again (not really his fault - I'm usually up well before everyone else).
Anyway, restorative breakfast needed, I think!6 -

Thank you both 😊
Gosh we're tired 😂 Had a lovely time though 😊
Thursday night we cooked in the flat (just pasta and sauce and salad) with the friends we were staying with and another couple who were staying just up the road.
Friday we had breakfast in the cafe run by the owners of our accommodation, then went off to St Ives for the afternoon, which was lovely. Evening was a nice dinner at an utterly glorious little cafe, 40 of us, a private do, watching the sun set over the sea 🥰
Saturday I got up and did the nearest parkrun 😇 Mr C and his friend practiced their singing for the evening, and I had a lazy day, then walked over to the beach party and got chips 😊
Saturday evening was a lovely party with a big curry, Mr C and his friend singing, and a big fire pit, all on a little terrace overlooking the estuary, again watching a beautiful sunset 😊😊
Today four of us had breakfast at a beachside cafe, then Mr C and I are staying in Gloucester for a night on the way home.
So, a lovely weekend, although not cheap. Flat wasn't too bad, shared with another couple, and we've had two cheap ish hotel rooms, but obviously meals both nights and plenty of cafes and ice creams 😬
Sadly, Mr C Snr is back in hospital again. Last night it looked very serious, and we were prepared to make a dash for it this morning, but he's stable for now so we've stopped as planned as it's such a long drive and we're so tired. We'll see where that takes us.
For now, a hot bath, a nice cup of tea, and an early night, I think.7 -

Sounds a lovely time.
Good that Mr C Sr is stable at least. And good decision to not add to drama by driving when tired.
Hope tomorrow brings good news3 -
Sorry to hear that Mr C Senior is back in hospital. You're right not to risk driving when you're tired, get a good night's rest and maybe plan to set off on an earlier-than-usual drive in the morning if necessary."You won't bloom until you're planted" - Graffiti spotted in Newcastle.

Thanks all.
We've made it home, not via the hospital (which is several hours in the wrong direction from where we were) - Mr C Snr seems to be improving a little and Mr C's sister is there, and various wheels are in motion. Mr C will go over in a day or two.
I've shifted my days this week, so I'm working 4 days starting tomorrow. Now wish I wasn't 😂 but I've got lots to do and couldn't justify another day off after last week's Bank Holiday.
Very ready for bed now, but we've just sat in a kind of stupor for the last few hours and it's just occurred to me that we didn't finish unpacking the car... 😬8 -
