Anyway, small MSE victory. I got up too late to park further away, but I did one last check for a parking permit before paying for a space near work, and someone had returned one! 😃 Only bookable from 9.30am and I parked at 9.21 so fingers crossed those extra 9 mins don't cause trouble 😬
Nipped into the village shop for milk on my way and remembered my parcel - so curtain rings duly collected and I can hang my second curtain tonight 😊8 -
£90 refund has arrived in the bank 😊 just need to get some cash out and deliver to neighbour and then I can draw a line under that whole affair!
No word from the LPG company yet.
Working at home today. The promotions deadline is looming - if I'm going for it this year I have to start sending emails asking people for things, which I HATE. Could put it off to next year... but it only happens once a year, and they cancelled last year's round, so no guarantee it will happen next year, and I'll kick myself if I don't try. I don't think I'll get through this year but there's no penalty for trying. My boss thinks I should, Mr C thinks I should, the only thing that's putting me off is having to ask for references etc, which I hate.
So apologies, you might hear me moaning about this over the next few days 😬 However, staying in bed isn't going to help!7 -

👏 for the refund 😊
Re the asking for references, yes, it’s excruciating but I suspect you’ve done it for others? If you have could you not see as a drawdown on your investment?

Go for promotion. If you are in real life as you come across on here people will be delighted to give them. Also if you have to ask externals which you usually do, whenever I get a request from someone I barely know I am a) delighted to do it and b) regard it in the same light as research karma - you know, I do this survey because sooner or later I'm going to want someone to do mine?3

In any case, I'm only asking people who did actually say yes last time I asked them 😂
So. I need to get out of bed and get on with it.
Today's plan:
* get dressed in running kit
* breakfast
* email both people about references, and a couple of people about other evidence etc
* go out for a gentle run/walk
Not sure how the rest of the day will unfold. A friend texted at gone midnight asking if we want to go to a gig tonight for a band which has one of Mr C's old school mates in 😂 it's a couple of hours away, but we can stay with them. So if we do that we'll probably set out at lunchtime. If not, we've got tidying up to do.
First though I have to find Mr C so we can make a decision - when I came to bed he was watching TV and said he'd be up shortly but it appears he either decided to sleep in the spare room or flaked out on the sofa...
("Find" makes it sound like a hunt - in reality i just actually need to get out of bed and it will be obvious 😂)7 -
Haha - I've only once had to 'find' OH when we booked into a spa-hotel after a family funeral and they upgraded us to a super-king size bed! It was large enough to sleep an entire family and he was on the other edge when I woke up!4 YEARS 10 MONTHS DEBT FREE!!! So, I did find Mr C (in the spare room), and we did go to visit our friends, and we had a lovely timeNot an MSE time, mind you - the gig tickets were £20 each
then there was the diesel, and we bought a drink in the pub, and lunch/coffee this morning, so between all that we're probably down around £80 between the pair of us
So easy to do. We absolutely wouldn't have gone to the gig if it wasn't an old friend of Mr C playing - him and the friend we stayed with haven't seen this guy for years, and just wanted to randomly turn up in the audience
It was VERY funny when he noticed them from the stage
Anyway, we're home now, and I've done some garden pottering, some flute playing, and am now sorting out photographs while Mr C has a bath.
Tomorrow I need to trot out for a run, then I'd like to spend the day out in the garden if the weather is nice, and then band practice early evening. VERY ready for a fortnight off - only four more working days, then I'm off for 17 days

I feel your pain re costs Cheery - we also went to a gig last night (and I’m wondering if Mr Cheery knows (of) the band (partly geographical, partly the lead singer wears the same style hat as Mr Cheery, which got me thinking 😂). £22 for tickets each, train fare, dinner in London (pizza express but was still £50 for a main and a soft drink). It’s not cheap going out these days.Glad you had fun though and Mr C’s and his friend’s appearance had the desired effect!Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days
