I drove off without paying but kept the tickets showing that I tried and it didn't work. So far, no penalty...Watty1 said:How lovely of the farmer, what a great solution and how beautiful is your world.

We have some very reasonably priced property in the north of Northern Ireland, some lovely snow on the hills, very friendly farmers and also cheap/free hospital parking if anyone is interested 😊 Also some amazing pubs!
Hope he gets back ok Cheery and glad you finally got some milk. Could you get some powdered milk in for emergencies, I don't remember it tasting that different when my gran used it.Mortgage start date Nov 2014 - £90,545 over 25 years

I've not had powdered milk for a long time, used to use it to make yogurt very occasionally!
Mr C made it home, and the farmer has done the drive, so there's now a massive pile of snow by the greenhouse (I noticed a couple of the plastic panes had come out again - they didn't have enough clips, but that's a job for when it's not snowing!)
Mr C (who gets cabin fever very quickly) went to retrieve the car from the farm, then nipped to town for a wander, and did a bit of a stock up at Mr Al too, which he said seemed to be full of entire families having a little day out 😂 i think he went around school finish time - although a lot of the schools here have been closed so who knows.
Got to thinking yesterday - this is the longest I've not been in the car since we moved here, I think. Even over Christmas, aside from a couple of my worst days, we drove somewhere and walked round a park or something. This time, I've not been out in the car since Saturday, that's five whole days! 😍 I have loved it 😁 I would do this far more often if it wasn't for Mr C's mental health (and my commute 😂).
I'm going to attempt to stay at home tomorrow too (can I make it a full week??) But I suspect i won't get away with it sadly - now the drive is ploughed and the main roads are clear, Mr C will be wanting an excursion.
Not sure whether to attempt to get the car to the garage tomorrow, or just leave it til things properly warm up next week. Garage is near work, so in reality even if I did take it tomorrow, I'd take it in the afternoon and then pick it up on Tuesday - the alternative is that i just book it in for Tuesday and take it then anyway. Hmm. I don't like only having one working car though...
Anyway, not a decision to make at 2am. I'm only awake because I shifted to the spare room because I was snoring (apparently... there's no actual evidence 🤔🙈) 😂12 -
Evening MSE chums.
A gentle one today. Lazy morning, then a potter round town and a cafe trip. Lovely sunshine again 😍
Had a no7 voucher to use, and they had a 3for2 offer on too, so got two lipsticks and a mascara for £16, not bad. Gave me another flippin voucher too. I'd buy nail varnish this time but none of our three most local branches sell it, they're all too small! I'm going to be in the city centre in Tuesday, might see if I get chance to pop in then.
In a bid to not get overwhelmed by all the things that need doing in the house, I'm loosely following the flylady zones and trying to get a couple of small-medium jobs ticked off each week.
Last week in zone 1 (entrance) I finally ordered some recycling bins, although they have yet to arrive because of the snow (we've had no post at all since last Saturday, unsurprisingly). This week (zone 2, the kitchen) we tackled the tupperware cupboards 😱 FAR more lids than tubs. I suspect mostly the fault of the chickens - we often used to take afternoon treats in a plastic tub and they'd collect in the chicken run. Clearly not had a sort out for a while as we haven't had chickens for over 18 months now 😂 I'll go out and check tomorrow.
Did manage to get rid of quite a few kids though. The remaining tubs have been attacked with their lids in, and I have a small stash of good quality clip on lids that I'll keep for a bit to see if the tubs turn up.
Oh, and I rang the garage - they have a busy week next week dealing with the backlog of snowed in people, so the car is going on Friday, which means Mr Cheery will have to take it, as I have a blood test appointment in a different town. Ignoring the orange light on the other car for now - I'll ring Monday to book that in for the week after. What a palaver.
Right, time for snoozing. Will try to have more of a diary catch up tomorrow, ideally quite behind!5 -
It is a law. The useful bits of tubs decrease & the lids multiply. It is a bit like the law that any number divisible by nine will eventually add up to nine. Unargueable!

I’m trying the ‘nibble-nibble-nibble’ approach at chores atm. You do make more progress than you think by doing this 😊

Haha - I'm already off kilter with flylady as I start my cleaning weeks on a Monday so still on the entrance zone which got hoovered and dusted but that is it! Next week is kitchen week for me and tupperwares are a good idea as there are too many lurking and Brading as we are attacking the freezer this month!4 YEARS 10 MONTHS DEBT FREE!!! One of the fast easy solutions I did was to shove all of the tubs and lids into a rubble sack and chucked it into the workshop. Must go through it, not least because I am out of rubble sacks! Many, many lids.My mortgage free diary: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6498069/whoops-here-comes-the-cheese

Beautiful pics! You do know you can buy milk and freeze it ? Might be worth having some on for the next few cold months
be safe & glad your Oh has a safe plan (hopefully bringing you a double decker )DON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)
No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff. Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.
