Had a lovely lunch and catch up with a friend, and we have finally made it to our hotel 😃
Had an annoying letter from Co-op bank. We'd both opened a regular saver at the same time, and I was convinced we'd set up standing orders for both in the application process. Mine was showing on the joint account, but not Mr Cheery's, and when we finally logged in as him, there was no visible regular saver, so I assumed we'd missed the 30 day window for adding money and they'd closed it again.
So we set up another one, and set up a standing order. But now the bank has sent a letter saying 'you can't have two of the same issue, so we've closed one and cancelled the standing order' 🙄 Hope they've closed the one that's not showing, rather than the one that is! Not going to bother fighting them though 🙄4 -
Evening MSE chums 😊
We are home, after a lovely time away 😊 Not super money-saving, although it could have been worse.
Hotel (£47) and gig tickets (£24) were booked and paid for back in July I think, before the event was rescheduled.
Then we spent £12 on dinner last night, £25 on brunch, £11 on tea and cake, and £23 on our tea on the way home. Plus £3 on parking.
And I bought a dress in a charity shop, and Mr C bought a jacket 🙄😂
So £74 hotel/tickets/parking, £71 food. Not as bad as it could have been. Probably half a tank of diesel at a guess, £25ish, didn't track, but it wasn't full when we left, and it's not empty now.
Tired now, and very ready to eat some healthy home cooked food! I think tomorrow will be an At Home day, batch cooking and washing and the like. Need a bit of a catch up before work starts again!8 -

Thanks both, it was nicely refreshing to be away, and we saw some people we've not seen for ages too which was nice 😊
Yesterday's energy use, low as we were away from about 11.30 but it could have been lower! Only left fridge and freezer on, plus a couple of lamps
Tomorrow's prices don't get super high, but they don't drop super low either. Still, I'll try to do wsshing/batch cooking in the morning.
Right, I think I'm actually going to go to bed! There's been a lot of driving, and a lot of unhealthy (but tasty) food this weekend and I need to sleep it off and reset myself tomorrow!

Morning chums,
Where is the week going??
Not sure I have much to report. Obsessive electricity checking has gone out the window as I've been at work most days. Mr Cheery has had a bit of a week of health niggles but recovered enough to head off to a friend's event yesterday evening and has stayed over.
I had a lovely evening pottering yesterday and chatting to my sister, about to do yoga before bed at 10.30 last night and discovered the bathroom sink was leaking 🙄 it had been slow to drain for a few days and we'd been ignoring it. .. but last night it was dripping into the cupboard 🙄
Dismantled, removed hair and grim stuff, reassembled - it's still dripping under the sink but not half as much. Got fed up after half an hour and stuck a bowl under it. Must remember to tell Mr Cheery to use sparsely until we-ve fixed it (although hopefully he'll notice - I've left the cupboard open and stuff piled elsewhere in the bathroom and a bowl to catch drips 😂)
Back to the office today, but I'm taking the afternoon off. Got a work-adjacent event early afternoon but it's not really 'work' and I wanted to be free to wander off straight afterwards.
Then it's the weekend! 😊 I am SO ready for it.
Oh, must get the tyres sorted - they were close at the MOT and the garage said to bring back in a month, but that's a faff so I'll get tyres on the drive.
Not right now though - right now I need to get in the car within 10 mins!10 -
Evening chums 😊
Well, what a cheerful day! I have been to meet a friend at a nature reserve in Nottinghamshire, and on the way popped in to Bolsover Castle to use my EH membership. I only had an hour, and fortuitously arrived just as a tour was starting. Even more fortuitously I was the only person there, so I had a private tour round the castle 😂😂 How funny. Clearly autumn weekday mornings are the time to have castles to yourself!
My EH membership has officially now paid for itself - although had I not had membership I wouldn't have gone to all these places, so that doesn't really make it much of a bargain. But still,everywhere else I go from now til August is technically free 😊
I did spend £9.50 on lunch with my friend, and then bought us both tea and cake (total of £14) but not too bad for a day out.
Just overlapped briefly with Mr C who is off out to a paid gig, so I have the evening to myself. Back in a second with a plan...7 -
So, a plan!
5.45-7.15 HOUSE
* flylady home blessing
* hang washing up (looks like Mr C put the washing on in the most expensive hour of the day - absolutely NOT going to criticise but it'll be interesting to look at tomorrow's graph!)
* small bit of decluttering
7.15-8.15 FOOD AND FLUTE
* eat tea
* batch cook something for freezer
* bit of flute playing while things are cooking
8.15-9.15 ADMIN
* photos onto laptop
* blog post(s)
* quick bank check
* happy wheel
9.15 READING
Really enjoyed spending a couple of hours on the sofa just reading an actual book last night so aiming to do the same tonight 😊😊
Right, ready, steady, GO!8 -
Sounds like a lovely day out Cheery! And I don’t think you have to justify all pleasure spends - what is life if not for enjoying and clearly you’ve been enjoying your EH membership.
