I have a 7% regular saver £250pm max at Coventry ...
Nice incentives!

No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff. Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.

I'm looking at that Cov reg saver as well - I already have the 8% N/wide and the 7% FD - it just comes down to whether I want to commit that amount to another reg saver at a time when we have agreed that the surplus we have is going towards the solar cost!🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

If I go for another it'll be the Co-op one - that's where our main joint account is so it's by far the easiest transfer back and forth. I was thinking I couldn't justify another but since this has unlimited withdrawals...
Will check dates over the weekend. I think one of the others ends in December anyway, so it might be that we can stash in the Co op one (knowing we can get at it if needed), and then have the lump sum from the other one to drip feed next year. We'll see.
Not a job for today, 8 million other things to do first! The day is dragging slowly, but sadly that doesn't seem to mean any more tasks are getting done 🙄 Another meeting shortly, then I'll be ploughing on, hopefully not finishing any later than 8. Yawn. Very ready for the Easter holidays!8 -
@Cheery_Daff I hear that credit scores go up and down for no other reason than to incentivise people (who know no better, so not us!) to pay for CRA services...they would love the system to be the same here as in the US where one number that is a 'credit score ' is a thing. As we all know, it's not cut and dried here. Sombre thoughts on my birthday but loving your new diary and have subscribed love Humdinger xx5

Well, I didn't finish til 9 last night 🙄 But since it was our wedding anniversary, we nipped out for a quick bite to eat in the pub - just WSpoons so just £15 between us, and sat there with a cuppa and a biscuit for a bit 😂 Not exactly a wild night, but it was nice to leave the house (in fact to leave the chair I'd been in all day!) and do something other than work before bed.
Last day today, the sun is shining, and there is a slight possibility that I might get everything done before I finish this afternoon! Can't decide whether to stay at the office after this morning's meeting (I'll get kicked out about 6 so that will give me a cut off) or go home (means I have to drive in the middle of the day, but then I can stay in one place til I've actually finished. No heating on in the office when I nipped in this morning, so that might decide it! 😂9 -
Aww belated happy anniversary for yesterday to you and Mr C - glad you got out even if not for a wild night out! At least the food in a Spoons can usually be relied on to be both edible and relatively tasty, if not gourmet fare!🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

Thank you all!
Well, yesterday was another long one 🙄 I was in the office by 8am, had a meeting in town til lunchtime, went back to the office for the afternoon, left there at 5.30 and went to the library (should have done that earlier - the heating was on in the library! 😂), and finally left there at 8pm 🙄
STILL hadn't finished, so did some this morning, then a friend of Mr Cheery's came over with his family, so I stopped to be sociable, then that ended in a trip into town, so I had to start AGAIN at 5pm, very annoying! Finially finished at 6.30 🥳
But of course the steam cleaner is due back at the Library of Things tomorrow 🙄 So I'm scrubbing away at the floor. Sadly I just don't think it's all going to get done - I'm extremely bored now. Trying to do the worst of the plaster and grime, the bits that really won't come up with pink paste and more scrubbing.
I can actually get the steam cleaner back another time of course - in fact, I wonder if I can renew?! Will check - I'm off work for another 9 days so that would give plenty of time!
Here's a before and after of some of the delightful job 🙄 As you can see, they're never going to look GOOD 🙄😂 But they do look marginally less grubby 😂the strip down the left side is where the tiles don't actually meet the wall 🙄 Hoping most of this will eventually be covered with skirting board!
Bloody tiles 😂 I'm not a fan. They're white, green and red in the kitchen, white, blue and black in the dining room, and white, green, red, black and yellow in what was a hallway - but of course these three spaces are now all part of the same room 😂 And the white ones are nowhere near white, and never will be again. I cleaned, regrouped, and resealed before the builders came a couple of years ago (they didn't look that much better 😂) but then they got plaster spotted all over them, and taking the walls down properly revealed even more stains, and, well, here we are.
I'd love to just cover them in stick-on tiles from Poundland like we did with the kitchen in our old house, but (a) Mr Cheery really likes them (although I can't see him on his hands and knees steam cleaning them!) and (b) I cursed those stick-on tiles to high heaven, so am best off taking my chances with the steam cleaner 😂6 -
Hmm. The T&Cs of the Library of Things say I can extend the loan by just altering the end date, but there doesn't seem to be any way to actually do that in practice. Tried to make a reservation starting tomorrow, but I can't do that - obviously they can't have one loan ending and another starting on the same day, as they're only open for 2 hours, so it might not be back when someone goes to pick it up.
Hey ho. I'll take it back tomorrow and see if they can figure out to extend it. And if not, it'll have to wait til another time. I'm stopping now, can't face any more time on the floor! 🙄7
