Well, my sniffle has definitely turned into something more over the course of the day 🙄 Went out this morning feeling mostly alright, by the time I came back several hours later I had a headache, proper sniffly, and all shivery and cold 🥶
Still, colleague and I got plenty done towards our deadline 😊 We also spent money - two cafes, 3 drinks each, a sandwich, and a mince pie 😬
Home now, cold & flu tablets have been taken. Mr C has gone out, but I think I'll largely be ignoring my list.
Updated plan involves:
⭐ max 2 hours of work, with regular breaks (properly finished and shut down by 6pm)
⭐ something wholesome for tea, even if it's from the freezer
⭐ a nice hot bath
That's it. If I feel better once these tablets have kicked in I might do a bit of flute practice, or put some washing on, or update the budget, but not going to force anything.
Deadline is the absolute priority - it's a set in stone external thing so I need to focus all energy on that. Hoping to submit tomorrow, but actually we have til Wednesday lunchtime if needed. I shall be extremely pleased with myself if I submit early though!
Right. Loo, tea, then four sessions of 25 minutes with restful breaks between to get what I need done. 😊
Will report back once I've finished.10 -

Thank you all for your kind thoughts and good vibes xx
I've finished work now, just making myself a bit of pasta (and friend today gave me some chocolates so I'm munching those too, strictly for medicinal reasons, of course 🤭) Planning to hop straight in the bath after tea, and then just curl up on the sofa with Call the Midwife and a hot water bottle 😊 we do at least have in a good supply of cold & flu tablets!7 -
Morning Chums.
Well, I am in now officially full of cold and feeling quite sorry for myself 🙄 last night was restful, although i stayed in the bath too long, got too cold, and was subject to an uncontrollable fit of shivering and shaking when I eventually dragged myself out 🙄 switched the shower on to rinse my hair, and managed to stand under that for a while to warm up a little, and my hot water bottle was still a bit warm, so I sat on the side of the bath wrapped round that til I finally stopped shaking. What an idiot!
Good job Mr C wasn't here, he'd have been quite cross at the state I'd got myself in and probably far more worried than he needed to be!
Quite a bit of tossing and turning, being too hot and then too cold, but I did sleep, so that's good. Very sniffly today.
Still, I am going to get up, take some tablets, then candlelit yoga (just 17 minutes today, fortunately), then cracking on to meet my deadline. If I didn't have this I'd be tempted to spend the day in bed, but needs must. Tablets will see me through I'm sure, and there's not much left to go now. As soon as that's finished I'm not doing anything else except going back to bed!
(Deadline isn't actually until lunchtime on Wednesday, but I'm trying really hard to not leave things til the VERY last minute, so I will be extremely pleased if it gets submitted today!)
Right, up!9 -
Good luck with getting it pushed over. Then you can go back to bed with an easy conscience!

Thank you!
It's chugging along nicely. I'm sick of it now, but my overwhelming feeling is 'urgh, I don't feel very well' rather than all the anxiety and head-scrambling nonsense I've been going through lately. So I'm seeing this illness as a blessing 😂😂 which sounds all wrong, but it's stripping out all the unimportant stuff and making me focus ONLY on the main priorities.
I'm still very ready to get back into bed though 😂😂 just stopped to defrost a tasty frozen pasta bake for lunch. Mr C has gone out for milk and treats and tissues (and to get away from my germs, probably 😂)
One good thing - this morning i was still waiting for a couple of other people to do important tasks for this deadline, but they're all done now, so as soon as I'm done, i can press submit. Which won't be for several hours, but still, at least it's all in my control now!9 -
It's interesting that you mention the anxiety you were struggling with. I had been feeling quite blue, dark and existentially naff for a couple of weeks, right up until my symptoms broke through. Then all the mis stopped dead. I quite often find this - I'm utterly sad and mis, and then I get ill and my mood lifts. Maybe this is just our bodies telling us that they are battling something? 🤔🤷♀️
