Oh, and in the midst of all this, a ridiculous exchange. A neighbour is in dispute with another neighbour, and we have provided some evidence - we then had a letter from a solicitor wanting to adapt that as part of a land registry claim. Fine, they want to speak to both of us on the phone. Rang the secretary's number as instructed, made an appointment for 10.30 today, and of course they didn't call.
I rang them again - answerphone, saying secretary will be back at work on 20th October
Pressed the number for reception, left a message on their answerphone too. Someone in a different city who had no idea what I was talking about rang me back. I couldn't find the letter with the reference number, but gave other details, and she went off to email the secretary.
Then 2 mins later I spotted the letter, so I rang back on the number she'd just rung me from. Except someone else answered, and had no idea what I was talking about. She tried to put me through to the person who'd sent the original letter (the solicitor, I think) but he wasn't answering the phone either.
What a waste of everyone's time! Still, I've added them to my list of solicitors to never use

Definitely worth paying for an email address - it’s not free, they are using your data 😏 That’s quite a saving though Cheery, better late than never!Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

Good point - the most basic programme includes 5 email addresses, so maybe I should set one up myself and resign my free one to spam
This might be the opportunity to set up a joint house account for bills etc so we can both easily access renewal documents etc - I've been meaning to do that for a while. 8 -
Right, changes have gone through, so I pressed the button to switch - and the cheeky blighters won't let me without phoning them up!! I mean, clearly they're losing a lot of business - and if they think we're some kind of elaborate organisation needing 60,000 email addresses that's suddenly switching to a package with 5... but even so - this type of behaviour makes me VERY angry!7

Possibly the best time to phone them then? 😡🤔😊5

Ha, yes probably! Trying to decide whether to persuade Mr C to do it (he's far more impatient than me) or pretend to be him myself (which is more likely to happen this side of 2029)...teapot2 said:Possibly the best time to phone them then? 😡🤔😊4 -
OK. Mr C spoke to them - actually uncomplicated except the £2.50 version only has 2gb of storage, and I don't think he's deleted an email in 20 years 😬 so a little bit of pruning required... and then he can ring again. But it shouldn't be too bad. If he can't get it down that much, there's a £3 a month contract for 12 months that then resorts to £6, but you only get 1 email address with that. We'll try this first!
I can be companionable - my free email keeps telling me I'm running out of space too...5 -
Right, more budgeting. Just topped up the savings pots and transferred stuff we've spent out of them back to the main account.
Pots currently standing as follows:
ANNUAL BILLS
Cars: £1107.15 (insurance due Feb)
LPG: £698.95 (sat at 60%, so don't need a top up for a while)
Web hosting: £108.12 (as already discussed - under the new amount this would cover 3 years worth 😂)
House insurance: £810 (due Feb, £900 last year)
TV licence: £175
SAVINGS POTS
Holidays: £512.60
Home & garden: £1059
Dentist & medical: £259.30
Presents: £469.08
Long term savings: £2243.92
So everything is filling out nicely ready for the alarming Jan/Feb insurance/LPG drain 😬😂7 -

Thanks @rtandon27 you're right of course. We will attempt to limit ourselves to 3 times a week and see how we go, but as long as we stay within the boundaries of the allocated treats budget I'm not too worried.
Nice evening yesterday although a little odd. We met friends in a restaurant - the food was extremely tasty but took forever to arrive, over an hour before we got our starters! And it was so cold in there, some of us sat with our coats on 🥶 so we got to the gig late, and it was packed (a tiny room but we'd been led - by the band - to believe that there wouldn't be many people). In contrast to the restaurant it was really warm, and we had to sit in the floor by the door 😂😂 then we'd thought we might go back to friends' house for a cuppa after (and they'd said we could stay if we wanted) but they ended up going to the pub and we ended up coming home.
So a bit weird all round, but some evenings are just like that. Spent £38 on food between us and £11 on drinks. That's a quarter of the treats budget! Good job we have a cafe habit not an eating out one! 😂
Slimming World this morning, partly wishing I hadn't got into the habit of a Saturday 8am group 😬😂 I know I can go to a different one 😂 but it does get it out of the way without disrupting the day. Then I'm not sure after that.
But first, candlelit yoga 😊 today's video is 26 minutes and I also want to wash my hair before I go out so i'd best get a move on!10
