Cheery's path to fulfilment - finishing the DIY, looking after myself, appreciating the garden 🌻

Hmm. Mr C heard scuffling in the loft above the bed again last night - on investigation it seems there are rat droppings and evidence of bed-making 🙄 so the kill traps are up there, and I've rung the council who will be coming next Wednesday (and for a further 2 appointments in January). £125, and if they can get rid of them it will be money very well spent. Let's hope they don't damage anything else in the meantime. Bored now!8

He's very good at talking me out of any inclination I have towards a work ethic! 😂
So a pretty lazy one today. Lazed around til midday, did some candlelit yoga, argued about rats 😂 Booked the council pest control people. Washed some bedding and pegged it out, but not til 3pm, and then I forgot to bring it in til after dark so it didn't dry that much - doing the radiator dance with it now. Did a bit of work - definitely winding down towards Christmas now so I was just taking a leisurely stroll through my emails chasing and checking. Got some cooked rice out of the freezer and fried it up with some veg and an egg. Took the bins out (it's an uphill trek with a wheelbarrow so always feels needs its mention on any list 😂).
Call the Midwife marathon continues - I stupidly started watching from the beginning again a few weeks ago, can't remember why, just because I was a bit stressed I think. Anyway, being ill has rapidly accelerated my watching rate and I've just finished series 14 episode 4 😂 so I'll definitely be finished in time for the new one at Christmas. I'll be finished tomorrow the rate I'm going!
Definitely feeling better though. Not that I've tried to do too much today - but I've also only had one lot of cold & flu tablets, first thing this morning, and not felt the need for any more. I slept all the way through last night, and I've barely blown my nose at all today.
So normal (ish) life resumes tomorrow. We have an errand 1st thing (with an accompanying coffee trip, I think), then I've booked a haircut for the afternoon. Mr C's got a gig in the evening and we're meant to be staying with friends. I'm still prepared to back out of that if necessary, but we'll see.
I'll make a decision on fitting my mother's stair carpet after I see how I cope with tomorrow!8 -
Yawn. Had a nice morning, but then a bit of a boring run in with our friends Halfords which wound me up 🙄 (asked them to fit a couple of lights, they told me to wait in the car - quarter of an hour later I was still sat there, and two other people had since arrived and had their headlights fitted, so I yanked one out myself, realised I couldn't do the back one without a spanner, which I didn't have, so went in to buy the front bulb. Nice young man asked if I needed help, so I said yes, but didn't seem to be able to get it 🙄
Anyway, he fitted the back, I fitted the front, and I saved myself £11. Which I would rather have paid so I didn't have the annoyance of fitting the damn headlight myself, but never mind.
Then I parked extremely well in a car park and only then realised there was a 2 hour limit so I had to leave and find a different one.
Now taking in much-needed calming sustenance (a mushroom and cheese toastie and a cupcake with a little snowman on) before I go to the hairdressers, or else I'm likely to get annoyed there too.
Pretty sure the world will seem better after food!9 -

Ha, glad it's not just me 😂 I had my toasties and cake and all was better with the world, especially after the hairdresser switched the massage chair on while she was washing my hair, and after I'd swished about in my new flicky haircut for a while 😂😂
Very foggy drive home over one of the highest roads in the country in a large queue behind a local bus 😂 So I am quite ready to have a nice hot chocolate and an early night. Unfortunately Mr C has a rather raucous gig and we are staying over with band members, so no early night or quiet for me 😱😂8 -
Look at you living the rock and roll life 🎸 🤣Good to hear you sounding perkier though.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)6

Sadly rock n roll (or in this case punk) is his bread and butter, and I am usually in roadie mode, so the reality is rather less glamorous than it might seem, and usually involves me carrying heavy equipment and grubbing round on the floor plugging things in 😂Sun_Addict said:Look at you living the rock and roll life 🎸 🤣Good to hear you sounding perkier though.8
