Cheery's path to fulfilment - finishing the DIY, looking after myself, appreciating the garden 🌻

Ha, oddly enough we are pretty overlooked - there are two public footpaths, one through the fields and one right down the drive past the house, cutting through the two main bits of the garden. I've been caught outside in my dressing gown letting the chickens out many times 😂 But yes, the bit behind the house is indeed more private (not as completely private as I thought as it's still a bit visible from the footpath, but will be better when the ivy grows back).themadvix said:
Surely once it's warm enough to do in your PJs/underwear, it's fine to switch to outdoor yoga - can't imagine you're too overlooked (especially in your now private back garden)?!Cheery_Daff said:And before that, candlelit yoga. I wonder at what point in the year it'll switch to outdoor yoga? (Although that would mean getting dressed first so maybe it won't!) 😂
No need to ponder that for now though - I could see my breath in front of my face while I was doing yoga in the living room 😂13 -

Thank you to all youlovelyfolk saying happy new year! 🥰 right back at you 🥰
A nice day on the whole today. Yoga, slimming world (signed up for another 12 weeks), and then met my sister for a day of goal planning. Very tired now!
Want to plan a few things in tomorrow, Mr C has some stuff he needs to work on. We're going to go out for a cuppa in the morning, and then...
12-2 FOOD
⭐ get soup in haybox
⭐ meal planning
⭐ get at least 2 meals in the freezer
2-3 ADMIN
⭐ end of year budgeting
⭐ start of year budgeting
⭐ renew library book (thought I did this before Christmas but I've had an email about a fine 🙄)
⭐ bit of filing
3-5 CRAFTS
⭐ Make cushion covers
⭐ make decision about rag rug - how much bigger do I want it?? It's been on the go for about 23 years 😂😂 Mostly ignored during that time, but it's a spiral so could theoretically go on forever 😂
⭐ quick dust and hoover of craft room
LATER - COMPUTER TASKS
⭐ sort photos
⭐ end of year blog posts
⭐ start photo book
That'll probably do for a list...11 -
What did you decide about the rag rug? Do you have a place for it in mind that you could lay it out and get a sense of whether it is big enough?KKAs at 21.05.26:

We have an issue in the front garden with mares tail so thats another thing to fix but going to finish off a room a month so by spring i can concentrate outdoors ,thanks for the inspiration even if i didnt get the move .I have a touring caravan and he has been booking beach sites for me so its almost a cottage by the sea it just has wheels x
So finally debt free and it feels amazing however continuing here to stay debt free.Next declutter house and body and finally swim under that waterfall x7 -
I did lay it out, and decided... to save the decision for another day 😂 is big enough for the entrance to the study (and would replace a little tiny one i have there that just curls up at every opportunity) but I may keep going to have it in the craft room. I've got a lot of fabric that could be used, and it's not taking up that much space in current form. I just need to commit to it!KajiKita said:What did you decide about the rag rug? Hello! 😊 A room a month is a good ambition! Although I'm not sure about taking inspiration from me - we've had no skirting boards in the kitchen for 4 years 😱 (in fact we didn't have any for years before that either, but we also didn't have a kitchen, so that doesn't count 😂). Looks like i need to be taking inspiration from YOU!elly68 said:Hi Cheery u are going to be my inspiration to redecorate my house . Nice day yesterday. Stayed off the Internet (aside from a couple of episodes of Beechgrove while I was sewing). Tidied the study, did some washing and put some other washing away, made a cushion cover with some fabric i bought on a trip to Quarry Bank Mill over a year ago, and got a couple of portions of quorn biriyani in the freezer.
Today we're popping out for a cuppa, then Mr C has more musical stuff to do, and I was planning on some garden pottering as the forecast said it would be sunny - it might well be (it's not currently) but there's also a small layer of snow 😂 so I might stay indoors and make another cushion cover and do some more washing 😂10 -
It's cold enough down here Cheery, so I should think staying indoors and making cushion covers sounds like by far the best use of the day! More than slightly jealous of your additional week off - in spite of just having had a fortnight I could cheerfully have stayed off for longer!
Holiday cottages - yep, the dinky little cottage we stay in up in the Hebrides costs us a little over £1500 for the fortnight now, and there's not masses any cheaper up there these days either, it's definitely an area where costs increased during Covid and have never gone back down again.🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

EH - my boss and I are discussing setting up a lottery syndicate, as neither of us is thrilled by the idea of another decade and a half of working, and PBs aren't playing ball...8

Sadly @greenbee i suspect the lottery may not play ball either! 😬
Well the sun has come out but it's still flipping freezing 🥶 Mr C has made a vat of lovely warming lentil soup, and I have been optimistically reading a gardening book 😂😂
I think I'm going to wrap up and brave taking the compost out, and while I'm out I might check if we've got any potting compost, and possibly do a bit more snipping at the Rose I'm planning to dig out by the house. It's ok, but never flowers much, has peach flowers which I don't like, and is in prime position in a sunny spot at the front of the house. A have a glorious small scented pink rose which would be MUCH better there - but this is planted in a small hole right at the side of the house, and I'm not sure how easy it'll be to swap them...
Anyway, not a job for today - today might just be a bit more snipping (or not, depending how freezing I am 😂)
Then I think a luxurious teatime bath might be in order to warm me up!9 -
Ummm ... sorry to rain on your parade but have you not heard of rose replant disease ...?
Replant disease | RHS Advice
Maybe go for something else there - a hibiscus or a summer jasmine?
