I'd be quite thankful not to get one, our nearest CN recently got a food hygiene rating of 1 🤢EssexHebridean said:I can't remember the last time I managed to get a Caffe N code for a freebie8 -
Morning chums 😊
Grey and soggy here today, both me and the weather 😬 I'm struggling to be quite as cheerful as usual at the minute 😕 Nothing drastic, just a few things stacking up and getting on top of me.
More bad news at work this week which will mean yet more change. Sigh. Not sure what the immediate consequences will be for me - nothing drastic in terms of changing duties etc, and my immediate manager won't change (good, as they only changed 2 months ago) but the level above that will be very different, and I don't know what the knock on effects will be. Hey ho.
Still. I had a nice day with friends yesterday, and in the evening visited our other friends' new house. They've only been in for 2 days, lovely to see 😊 Oddly enough, one of them was telling us about someone lovely who had visited their workplace that day - turned out to be the husband of the lovely friend I'd spent the day with, and whose house I'd stayed at the previous night. Most amusing, a very small world 😂
Today I will need to do some work for various reasons, and I am quite grumpy about it, but it can't be helped. Cafe first though 😬
Also need to do a considerable amount of flute practice, and some house pottering, book a dentist appointment, ring the solicitor about a dispute between two of our neighbours (nothing to do with us, but we've been asked to provide some evidence), and pack for tomorrow. We have a family party tomorrow night, hotel is booked, but we want to get away nice and early on Saturday.
Coffee first though. I'll do some banking later too, assess the state of the pots 😬
Hope you are all considerably less gloomy than me!12 -
More change at work must be quite unsettling Cheery - not surprised you're struggling to be cheerful (especially with the weather!). And boo to having to do work on a Friday!Hope you enjoy the party tomorrow night though - and making a bit of a weekend of it sounds like an excellent idea!Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

Thank you both xx
Cafe done, necessary work done, weather utterly grim. Wind is buffeting from the east - in my study (which faces east, has three outdoor walls, and is at the top of a steep valley) the wind noise was intense. At the other end of the house (doesn't face east, far more sheltered) you can barely hear it!! Still, I had my electric heater on, and a YouTube video of a storn to drown out the real storm 😂😂 (I don't fret about damage if I know what I can hear is fake 😂😂).
No damage yet, touch wood, although everywhere is very wet, and the neighbour's trampoline is in a field 😬 It had blown over when we went out earlier, didn't think to move it - we've not actually met them yet so it felt a bit presumptuous, and there wasn't really anywhere to put it anyway (also it wouldn't have blown away if they hadn't chopped quite so many trees down in their garden...). Anyway, it was in a field by the time we came home - not one of our fields, and it looked pretty wedged against a tree, so we didn't attempt to retrieve it 😬 don't really fancy my chances trying to manhandle a giant trampoline (with side netting) in this weather anyway!
So, now we have the evening to play with, so here's a list:
⭐ make and eat tea (I might defrost something I made last weekend...)
⭐ flute practice
⭐ clean kitchen floor
⭐ 10 min tidy in the craft room
⭐ banks and budgeting
⭐ pack for tomorrow
Rather fancy being warm either in a hot bath or under a blanket so that might make a good end to the evening!9 -

Thanks beanie 😊 xx
Just reporting remaining pots for November
Food & household: £99.51/£350
Diesel & parking: £164.48/£300
Joint spends: £101.25/£200
My spends: £86.65/£150
Mr C spends: £93.10/£150
Not too bad, except for the food budget. But that's included some bigger things this month:
£28.78 for more rodent traps
£25 for a kitchen bin
£11 lightbulbs
£18 vacuum storage bags and another hot water bottle
£15 for wine and snacks to take to friends' new house
So nothing really extravagant (except perhaps the last). We'll see if we can keep it reigned in for the rest of the month now.7 -
Happy Sunday Cheery!Loved catching up with your diary! Thanks for the nudge on Octo tariff - we must be on the same fix as I got the same email but totally forgot to action but thats now sorted. Just went for the next fixed. We don't have any solar/heat pump / electric car charging currently so quite happy on the fix. We only recently had our meters updated so quite new to Octopoints and free energy. My DS loves the free drinks - Greggs works perfectly for us as no Cafe Nero around us. My DS enjoys his hot choc treat on the train ride home!Sorry to hear about the job interview but glad you got some feedback.2026 financial goals & challenges!
