    Hi all,

Been really enjoying the X'mas break so far. Have taken a keen interest on clothes this year - more so that nromal so have been hitting the sales since yesterday which I don't normally do quite so soon.

Next & M&S wasn't really all that busy so perhaps I was just lucky? I went there between 10-11am. In M&S I got a couple of really nice X'mas ornaments for £2 each, a box of tree bobbles for £2, a hand finsihed photo frame for £3 and some socks. All reduced obviously at those prices. :T

iN Next I got a metal door card holder for £1 (originally £14.99, marked at £5?) and a large wall picture originally £50 for £1. :rotfl:

I resisted buying waistcoats in River Island reduced to between £15-£25, so will keep my eyes peeled for them coming down to £10 before I will open up my purse. :p Did get a pair of cufflinks to put away for a present for DH for £5.

Got DS a box of Thomas the Tank engine stuff for £9.99 (half price I think) from Boots.

Will pop back to the shops tomorrow as I didn't have a good look due to the heavy bags I was carrying.

Good evening everyone. Not been around much today. Was out early this morning and it feels like I haven't stopped. Only managed to scan read the thread whilst busy working!!!
Kyle, so sorry to hear about your Great Aunt. Hope your DS gets well soon. You have been having it a bit rough haven't you. (((hugs))).
    PenPin hope you are ok and following instructions and doing n o t h i n g!!!
Hope all who are ill soon get well, and all who are well, stay well!!!
Well I thought I was being really good last night taking panelling off in one of bedrooms... The walls underneath are not very good. Neither OH or myself have ever done any plastering... Oh dear what have I done. Can't afford to throw money at getting professionals in to sort it... If anyone has any constructive advice please, it would be much appreciated!!! Thank you in anticipation.

  • I was actually up very early for me today (Does 5 O'clock happen twice a day?) I was on duty unlock at work, so it was all fork trucks and pooters to boot all over the place. Trouble was I couldn't get into the car park! Next had started their sale at 5am -Some muppets had been here all night waiting, sleeping bags - the whole thing. I did see that the Daily Thread was as yet unstarted but felt uneasy starting it, besides that I needed lots of tea down me (I run on the stuff) - Weird Eh?

Anyway - Work was busy, sale time and all that, but, in general most folks were real gems and the day rushed past. Got a pat on the back for cross selling stuff we had run out of and getting even more money off the punters, I was determined that no one would leave empty handed. ;)
At one point a very harrased mother with two youngsters in a trolley has having a really hard time of it, her kids were giving it 10/10 for screaming, so giving it my best cross between Grandad and Sgt Major voice I explained that we DO NOT TOLERERATE such behavior in our shop, and that if they continued I would shut the hot dog and Ice Cream stall and they would have to leave. Exit one happy mom and two kids with their bottom lips trembling, a lot of happy customers too! :D (They kept looking around to see if I was watching - (I was)).

On the way home I decided to visit the EX! She had the usual "Face Like Thunder" make up on but was happy to see I bought her a couple of pallets to chop up/chew through. - We go halves on them - I get free logs and she gets to take out her frustrations - Her BF has dumped her (again :T)

I stoppd off at Mr T's on the way home (via the pub - to recover from the Ex) and now am staring at 46 pots of double cream :D. The mixer has been out and the kitchen looks like a butter bomb has gone off, mess everywhere!. Thus far I have almost 7lbs of butter and 34 pots of cream to go . I have now lost the will to live and simply shut the door and sat down with a stiff voddy and a glowing woodburner - Tomorrow will see the mess sorted (unless the Buttermilk Pixies visit and tidy up?). I also have stuffed the fridge as I got a load of Dim Sum and Won Tons for £1 a box and a couple of cheese boards too. :T The reason is that I shall be invaded by 14 or so on Saturday. They have been warned that it is finger food and paper plates. Family party, all the butter you can eat (for about 9 months) and change out of £20 - I'm a happy bunny now.

    I have liked today :rotfl:

Tattycath, firstly get some experts in for some advice and some quotes to find out how bad the walls really are.

If they just need skimming as opposed to plastering it shouldn't be as expensive. Once you know how bad the problem is you can start asking round to see if anyone knows someone who will do what you need cash in hand......

We have a good builder who has part skimmed one of our upstairs ceilings as he said the rest of it was alright.

Edited to add don't even think about artex. My dad artexed our bathroom walls once and it took the skin off your elbows if you turned round too quickly!

    Hugs to you redruby

Aril - Congratulations on your sisters civil partnership.

Went to my parents, had a lovely dinner, got some fantastic presents. The best one was a wicker basket filled with all kinds of church candles :heart2: . Got

Popped into Tescos on the way, it had been decimated, did manage to spend £5 on decs though.

Going into work tomorrow, then OH has invited friends for dinner. I will have all of 5 minutes to sit and relax before they arrive when I get home. have done a couple of loads of washing today, and will just pop down and do the washing up.

Hope you all had a good day.
