    Hi all
I got into town nice & early this morning for the sales starting. Only really went to Debenhams and got a couple of pairs of knicks, some "smart" jeans and a John Rocha cashmere sweater for €85. Next & M&S were heaving, so I didn't really bother going in.
Have done a bit of washing/ironing/tidying in advance of our guests coming tomorrow, and eaten the last of the leftover turkey & veg for my lunch. HM burgers for tea (which I am still to make).
I'm planning to head up to the gym in a bit as well for my first post-christmas workout. It's always the hardest one of the year!

Hope you're all well & happy, hugs to twink & kyle.

Afternoon everyone! What day is it?! I feel as if I've lost a week of my life but I am SO glad I'm on the mend! Massive (((hugs))) for anyone just about to embark on this dreadful illness and to those just emerging from it. I have NEVER EVER felt as bad as this last week and, just to make me feel worse, my DS2 has had it as well. We were a right old pair on Christmas day but we still had a lovely Christmas. DS1, DIL and the grandchildren had all been ill a couple of weeks ago so they still were able to come round in the afternoon for a massive present-opening session; we had a lot of fun and it definitely helped me to feel better. My lovely Mum was the perfect guest and helped me a lot. We gave her a packed Christmas stocking and loads of pressies and she was as excited as the grandchildren. My brother took her home yesterday because she had an appointment with the eye consultant about the new drops they are trying her on for glaucoma and she has just phoned to say that the drops are really doing their job, so we're all delighted.

DH is doing some truck driving today and tomorrow to help out a friend whose drivers have let him down. He left about half an hour ago and will be back around midnight so I'm going to spend the evening chilling out and watching the Darcy Bussel programme I recorded yesterday. Did anyone see Ballet Shoes last night? What a lovely story with the perfect happy ending - makes such a change to watch something that lifts the spirits. I wish there were more programmes like that.

Well, I shall have to get a bit more food in tomorrow because we have BIL and his wife staying on Saturday night - hopefully, I'll be fully recovered by then. That's the only shopping I shall be doing for a while. Fortunately, I have never been one to do the 'sales' after Christmas - can't stand all the crowds of grabbing people. I did it once many years ago and it put me off for the rest of my life! I can't believe that people get that desperate to do even more shopping straight after Christmas! I've never got any money left, anyway!

I am determined to get my costs down even more next year. I've been given a head start this morning because my electricity statement came and the direct debits have gone down by £15 month so perhaps that's a sign of things to come.

KYLE - so sorry to hear about your aunt. My DS2 lost a very close friend to the same condition about 8 years ago and we were also shocked by the handling of it.

TAPLADY - I am so pleased your DS has got a bike! I wish they would make cycle helmets compulsory; I can understand people not wanting to wear them because they are not the most flattering headgear but, if it was the law, then everyone would have to wear them and it would save a lot of lives.

REDRUBY - thanks for your kind thoughts!

Well, I'm going to have a sit down now because my head is swimming a bit. I did try and post over the last couple of days but, every time I read through what I'd written, it didn't make sense; this bug has definitely affected the wiring in my brain! I still haven't read the threads for about four days so I must do that, as well. Anyway, I feel as if I'm rambling so I'm going for a doze!

    See you later.

  • Thanks Guys!

I feel much better this afternoon. I had a sleep for about 2 hours and think that helped.

The lounge looks lovely-DH has done a really good job. He just needs to put the tie backs back on the wall and it will be all finished:j :j :j

I have made a list of jobs and things that we have to do before we leave Saturday. Was supposed to be at Kings today but have to go up in the morning instead as there wasnt many staff on the ward today. I am hoping I wont be there all day again as it was dreadful on Xmas Eve.

DD has offered to do dinner tonight, so am not saying no! Haha. We have Nephew and his wofe coming round tomorrow afternoon/evening depending on when I get back and may just get Fish & Chips. We were going to do a curry or buffet but I may need to go shopping to do that, so may treat them to a fish supper (they dont have much money either ATM) and I have an extra £50 I have squirreled away for the hols which OH doesnt know about:D Have nibbles in, so it will literally be Fish & Chips x 3, Pie & Chips and Sausage & Chips. So probably about £20 including mushy peas and rolls:eek:     ...it is lovely fish though and well worth the money. I suppose it would cost the same if we bought a Mac D's and thats not proper food!!

I have a couple of items to put on Ebay Saturday that I have been bought this Xmas and a few things to put away in the present cupboard and have written down who there from so they dont get them back:rotfl: I was bought a DKNY perfume set in box with lotion/shower gel but dont like it and they are selling for about £25 and OH from the same person was bought a boxed smelly set worth about the same and would rather have the dosh to spend on what we need/want.

    Hugs to all.

    Good afternoon all:hello:

Well we've had a lovely Christmas, even having to cook dinner for 8.30 pm wasn't too bad;) I must admit I'm one of those that keeps Christmas going for days:o Had another roast lunch today, and got more visitors coming this evening. I've got the smallest house of all of us, but they always want to come here, and don't seem to mind the squeeze, so more fun and games:D :D

Only downer (slight) was that DS3 got rear-ended on his way to work yesterday. He was stationary at a red light, the back of his car is somewhat caved in, but he's fine so that's all that matters:D He's complaining of some stiffness/soreness in his neck and back, but it's not too bad, and his insurance company have said as he was totally innocent they will deal with everything. The other guy admitted full liability at the accident, and in fact his insurance company rang about an hour ago to say they accepted liability. So at least it should run as smoothly as possible.

kyle/twink ((((((hugs)))))) to you both on the sad loss of your aunt.

Off to start preparing yet more food:rolleyes: I really don't think I'll be wanting to eat, think a bit of liquid refreshment is all I'll want:rotfl:

    Enjoy your days.

    CM x

sorry mioliere, I had no idea you'd been so poorly. (((((hugs)))))))

Didn't post this morning as on an early. Short-staffed as usual but managed to get lots done and my patients were all ok.

Need to get back to the grindstone today. Will either be getting up at the crack of dawn to write my essay or doing it when DS goes to bed. Don't know yet, have been up since 5.30 so depends if I feel wide awake or not.

KYLE Sorry to hear about your Aunt and that your DS is still poorly.

PENPIN Glad to hear you are feeling better.

Hugs to all who feel unwell or who are sad.

Talking of Xmas decs, glad to hear I'm not the only one who doesn't like them after Xmas. I usually take mine down on New Years Day night. We don't celebrate new year much these days as one of us is usually working. OH is on nights this year.

Have a good evening. Off to look for inspiration in the fridge!

    Hi everyone!
Oooh I'm loving having this broadband connection....can spend a bit of time reading the threads instead of skimming them on my short lunchbreak
Am continuing to feel a bit better today and have managed to hang out a load of washing, give the floors a good scrub and have a general tidy up. The house isn't too bad as OH has kept on top of it...he knows that if it gets messy I sneak out of bed and do it every though I know it's a very naughty thing to do and I should be resting. I can't relax unless it's all ship shape...typical Libran!
I had a good piece of family news from the weekend which I can share now all the various children involved have been told. My sister and her partner Mags had a civil partnership on Saturday. Mags is absolutely lovely and I'm now in the fortunate position of having two sister in laws called Mags [one on either side of the family] who are each really special people. It all happened at the last minute as they're were going to be potential fireworks on Mags's side of the family so they brought the date forward. However, we're still having a big family celebration in March as originally planned and I have my gorgeous beaded top from Oxfam at the ready:D
Today's been a pottering around sort of day. I'm a regular sorter outerer during the year but there still seems to be plenty of stuff I've spotted for clearing out. I shall freecycle some, charity shop some and donate the rest to the annual jumble sale I help out at in January [the one where I swap my tut for someone elses!]
OH has been beavering away this pm and has made some mince pies using my HM mincemeat and I have a friend joining us for drinks and nibbles this evening.
    Have a good evening

dorry - not a money saving way but Woolworths have the rose/lemon turkish delight in their pick'n'mix in individual packets, so if all else fails, maybe try there!!
