Cloth_of_Gold said:This thread has had me in hysterics today. @Asparklierblonde I am indeed a man, as is A. Hope you still like me,
The idea of me, at 6ft 4 and 14 and a half stone floating anywhere, let alone in a Liberty scarf.....
@roundtuit I'm from 'ull so I can't be posh (piggers excepted lol) but I'm very happy to be your friend. On a serious note, I hope ASB's DD soon recovers. At least you have a diagnosis now so she will be having the correct treatment.@pigpen thank you for the spoon explanation - I really like it. What are sticks and frogs?
And CoG.. of course we still like you, I in fact, like you more for it.. My household is filled with every bit of that there flag and I am filled with pride of them all, I am also a member of the 'Stand In' groups locally and internationally.
A stick is what we throw to the Black Dog.. you know the grim who sits over you growing until you can no longer see the light in the world.. we throw them sticks and bones and set the do warden on them so we can all be happy and see the light and joy in the world.
Frogs are those jobs we put off FOREVER... the ones which take 10 minutes when we actually get to them.. tadpoles are the 2 minute jobs which we put off FOREVER
ASB... I hope missy is better soon.. she must feel awful the poor love
I excelled myself and loaded both WMs today.. I have no idea when it will be hung to dry.
I sorted the swimming bag for next Saturday too.

This thread is getting much more entertaining than actually doing any flying.......see, you are all a bad influence (not that if you weren't all here - perish the thought - I'd get any more done).
ASB poor DD, I hope her meds work fast and efficiently.
For the record, I'm not posh either. That remind me of a very surreal moment once at an airport: if you ask the 'average' person what books they might read to plan a holiday abroad, they will probably say L0nely Planet. Well I was reading the LP guide to the UK (clearly I was bored....as I'm born and bred in the depths of Dorset) and under advice on shopping it said "most people in the London area will get their food from Harr0ds" ......er....now that's what I call posh....is that really what travel writers think we do? And could I ever trust a travel book to give me practical advice again?
Anyway, owing to a modicum of time in the WAC last night, I heard an alarm go off and very accusingly said to Mr N "turn your alarm off".....baffled half-asleep grunt from him and I realised it was mine. Sulkily I went and made a cup of tea and surveyed the weather......fog starting at the end of the garden. Not attractive for lake swimming. Went back to bed and decided to go an hour later than usual, as swim buddy was away. Got into car and frost alert bleeped (which starts at 4 degrees in my car) - however, the water was 6.5 so in theory it was warmer in than out. Sun came out and a kingfisher flashed past me as I got in, so it all turned out to be lovely; only me and the SUP lifeguard in/on the lake for the first 20 mins.
Went to Mr L on the way home (that's flying mentioned then).
Got home and Mr N had put the DW on, so it warmed my hands up emptying it.
We then did a fair bit in the garden, retiring to the greenhouse when it got chilly (I'm now paranoid in case having a greenhouse makes me posh!). Lots of the over-wintering baskets and pots are showing signs of growth, so I did a lot of pruning/removing dead leaves etc.
Did a bit more knitting; on a second glove - I seem to be obsessed with the things.
Did some holiday research on the computer (Cornwall so no need for LP).
I had an email from the recipient of my old assessment resources to say they had arrived, so that's them truly decluttered.
Now I must do a tiny bit of writing up yesterday's Zoom meeting with Wednesday's student.
And CofG of course we still like you.....although you are taller than I expected!!! Isn't it funny how we get images about people without meeting them? I've met a few flypeople over the years (many of whom leave after they have met me, which is alarming) and it is interesting to have a description of someone whose personality you know but describes themselves as e.g. size 10, mid length brown hair (not me!) then trying to identify them in a coffee shop or wherever. I'll wave to you when I'm in London for the weekend next month.
Right, no more procrastinating. CPD and Weds report must be done by the end of Monday; and tomorrow is planting community hedge plants before church then it's our Lent frugal lunch.Remember...a layer of dust protects the wood beneath it.7 -
Morning all
You’re all ace, I hope you know that 😊😊
DD is still fast asleep and has been since 7pm which I am taking as a very good sign. Sleep is the best healer. I showed her your lovely comments, you made a sad 11 year old beam ☺️☺️.
YL - how was your evening? That’s an odd situation with the work chap, I hope it sorts itself out without too much upset xx
Narco - I nearly spat my tea out - ‘reading Lonely Planet UK because I was bored, I’m from Dorset’🤣🤣🤣🤣 xx
Piggers - hope you’re all okay, I know you’re super busy xx
Iona - I am going to make a plum crumble today you’ve inspired me. With hot custard 😋😋
Its a clear cold morning here. I’ve just chucked some wood on the fire (still got hot coal on it from last night), and drank some of my brew outside in the cold, looking at the stars, smelling the wood smoke. Still, clear days are rare here being so high on the moor and moments like that remind me why I live here.Frogs 🐸 - getting a rotary washing line and three new outside lights is currently top of the list. I took the old line down ages ago and really need to get a new one as I am sick of hauling the clothes aired outside to dry things. All top of the list when I get paid. Will make a simple Sunday dinner for today, I have some chicken drumsticks so will cook those with roasties, Yorkshire puds and veg. DD loves chicken so hopefully it will tempt her to eat.Right I’m off to read, have fab days all xx8 -

Glad Miss ASB has had a settled night. My night out was a bit of a disappointment, I ended up sitting between two people I didn't know and found them both a bit hard work (and I am not very confident at small talk with strangers anyway). I was one of the first to leave then laid awake in bed unpicking every conversation and wondering if I came across as a bit of an idiot. Sigh.
Anyhow I am up and first coffee has been made. It's a beautiful frosty morning. There is some laundry to sort and the kitchen needs a proper clean. I need to look at my March budget too.

Morning xx
A frosty start here too. I'm up, made my bed, set WM swishing with towels and tea towels, completed Wordle and Connections, and I'm supping my first brew.
When DS and DF left yesterday they took a book of psychology text books with them. That's a bit more floor in LR. There's still the Wii and 2 PSs for them to take from my last major decluttering session. And I told them that I'm about to start decluttering again. Hehe. I bet DF loves me. 😉
I brought in yesterday's washing at about 3.15pm...Still sunny at the front of the house but the back garden was in full shade by then. All put on the airer to well ermm, air 🤣. Plan today is to swish towels and tea towels , then give them an extra spin and peg out before I go see P & S.
Struggled to get to sleep last night - blamed the full moon 🌕 and then I was awake early. But if asb's DD picked up my missing zzzzs I'm glad. Hope she is feeling a lot better today 😘
YL - your unwanted admirer concerns me somewhat. Especially if he ignores your boundaries even when they're spelled out. Take care xx
Two months since Christmas Day!! How did that happen? 😳
Right. Brew 2 and a slice of toast and marmalade next methinks.
Have a good day.
I'm going to Google a Liberty scarf to see what you're all on about.
Rxx
ETA I now know what a Liberty scarf is, what an ascot is, and who Lilian Billoca is. Very educational this flying business 😊IT ONLY TAKES SMALL DAILY ACTIONSFOR MAGIC TO HAPPENRosemary Ikpeme8 -
Morning all. Lovely clear frosty day here too. First cuppa being slurped while I admire all the flowers on the camellia and the first bits of blossom on the cherry tree.
Kaz, I have a kitchen side to clear too. It's full of gibble DH left there before he went away.
YSL - I'm sure those who stayed at the party won't remember a thing this morning.
Will report back later with flying.
Have a great day everyone.Spend less now, work less later.8 -
I googled an Ascot too, but given the conversation I had guessed … I didn’t know they had a name!
I’ve had my vertical half hour, i’m about to have a coffee in bed since I can, and take the rest of my meds. I’m going to the artisan market this morning, to have a mooch really.
Im having a quiet day, not doing a big dinner. There is washing to peg out and an ironing pile to make a start on.
Hope little miss ASB is starting to feel better. Hope you alll have lovely days. and i’ll see you later for the new thread.Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily DickinsonJanice 1964-2016

Morning all,
ASB, I’m glad that DD has slept, it’s a great healer, as my mum used to say. Hope she starts to feel better x
YL, you know that you and I can unpick a conversation for days, but Jazee is right. Be wary about your work colleague, my love. The last auditor who called me up to his office thought that he would proposition me inappropriately - mind you that was more years ago than I can actually remember, he certainly wouldn’t try it now!
Yesterday was quite a successful flying day. Mopping aside (and, yes, Valli, I like ironing too, shhhh), the bathroom extractor got cleaned, and the bicarb and vinegar came out in anger. I filled the green bin with rotting clematis branches, but left a lot of the ground debris in case there creatures hiding in there from the cold. A new to me recipe cooked for dinner, which gave a couple of portions to stick in the freezer for DD.Oh, and I hid my axe by moonlight, so that Round would still talk to me…
Today it is the usual freezer tetris, meal planning, plus I need to figure out a knot to tie in a bracelet that I have attempted to make. That wasn’t something you expected to be on my Sunday list, now, was it?!
I have desperately scanned the above for poshness - no posh here (tricky with a sporadic Wiltshire accent..), but slightly concerned that a greenhouse might put me on the posh radar. Does an allotment exempt me, or just dig me a hole….sorry, I’ll get my coat and leave now 🤣.
Have a lovely day all, more GWS vibes to Miss ASB x9 -
Morning allASB - glad to hear she had a more settled night, hope she's bouncing Tigger like soon.
Frost here too, looks rather pretty .... from here on the inside !
DH went off early doors to help do a flood clear up at the boat club, I think it's the 4th flood this year. It's getting rather "dull", but at least not too much damage has been done.
DW unloaded
Cat dealt with (food / litter etc.,)Frothy proper coffee made (yes, with squirty cream and choc sprinkles ... I know how to live on a Sunday morning).
Retired back to bed where it's warm! The kitchen looks like a bomb site as DH finished fixing the radiator but has now started painting the skirting boards ... I shall do my best to just ignore the WIP ! However, I do think I will need to go to the DIY store and buy some paint, but will see how far he gets first. I need to buy a celeriac anyway (Not from the same store, although that would be good!).Realised that we are finally approaching the end of February and apart from the celeriac I don't think I need to buy any other groceries until March. Going to attempt to declutter some of the freezer and cook up some "ready meals" ... allotment time will be coming and I'd rather be there than thinking about "what's for dinner".
Actually could I use parsnip instead of celeriac ? Hmm (Recipe from HB .. Indian Shepherd's Pie) .... in which case, I just need to dig one up. I'm already subbing some of the other ingredients, one more won't matter, right ?GC - March 2024 -5
