No snow here, very wet and very windy, just for a change. I messed up today at the paid stuff, I forgot to send a document that needed to be submitted yesterday. Oh well thats what happens when you are trying work ten hours days juggling 375 things at once. I don't think there will be any consequences but in any case I am trying very hard not to fret about it.
Oh and DB and SIL are visiting just for one day in February. They live "down South" so I don't get to see them very often and I have booked the day off, which of course I now discover is the day that DS is having his colonoscopy. DS has to take priority but it's such bad timing.
Flying has consisted of putting all the clean washing away.8 -
Hello all
@Slinky - so sorry about your cat. I've been there - it's hard xxx
@Pigpen - re my prescription, unfortunately my eyes are too difficult to be able to cope with off-the-counter stuff, there's an astigmatism going on there as well which complicates things. I was quite short-sighted from my early teens until my late 40s-early 50s when nature made me long-sighted (as it does as you get older) so it got to the point where I didn't need glasses for driving anymore (because my short sightedness was corrected), but I do for reading a book... Also an 'intermediate' pair for looking at a computer screen which is typically further away than a book read... I had the funds, I was happy to pay - but I did quite vocally balk at the suggestion of more expensive varifocals!
@Valli - hugs re the cancelled theatre trip.
We've had nothing but darkness and torrential rain for most of today so I've done nothing apart from cook breakfast, lunch and dinner (wash up and unload, reload the DW) and settle down with several puzzles in my armchair by the lit wood burner because I'm solar powered and, given there was no 'solar' I had no power!
I hope you all have a lovely night xxx

@soappie I have tried varifocals twice, the second time with very expensive lenses, but I just couldn't get on with them. I shan't be trying them a third time.
After lunch and washing up we went to a friend's for tea (I took the coconut and lime drizzle cake I made yesterday). She has had her shoulder replaced so has only been out twice in the last 6 weeks (both times for hospital appointments). Her son lives with and is caring for her but I think she was pleased to have some different company for a couple of hours.Later I made supper and washed up and have now started the pre-bed eye routine. The last meds I will do as soon as A has gone to bed as they have to be done the last thing before going to sleep. He is currently snoozing on the sofa so I"d better wake him up to go to bed!

Finished knitting Beanies cardigan.. I am wondering if I can get a pair of mens mittens knitted tomorrow for theswimming instructor.. he always comments that I am 'always knitting' so it would amuse me to make him mittens. He isn't there after half term as he is training new instructors.cocoa ready for the WAC and Twinks in the tin..LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)6

Morning all it's Friyayyyyyy thank goodness.
My (usually N)NN woke me up at FIVE THIRTY AM! When 'All You Have To Do Is Dream' by The Everly Brothers filtered into my dream....and I could still hear it as I woke up! Most discombobulating. NN in the shower - or running a bath...water running anyway...and music to sing along too. And the bathroom doesn't share a wall with my side of the house. Two adults in there with three children. Surely they didn't all sleep through it 😳 Anyhoo....much Muttley muttering under the duvet at this house!
I'm up, made my bed, dressed, packed my lunch, eaten breakfast, supped a brew, completed Wordle, and failed miserably at Connections (1/4). All quiet next door now..
I wear varifocals. My glasses cost an arm and a leg as I have astigmatism in both eyes. I'm not as shortsighted as I used to be though as age has brought things back a little. Someone suggested I go to Mr A next time - any thoughts?
Better go to the paid stuff I spose. Amazing how calm it is there with the supervisor away on hols. Just saying....
Have a good day
