Morning all,
I've not been on this thread for many-a-year (since my DD was small and she's now off at uni!) ... today, I decided is as good a day as any to restart ... albeit, Monday is quite soon enough!
I was encouraged, however, to see that today's daily level 1 task was to do with youth's bedroom .... having just bought a new vacuum this week, I decided to venture up .... it's a bold move, and frankly, I'm not sure what my old vacuum has been picking up (noralot!). Anyway, her floor has now been vacuumed (desperately trying not to write hoover!) and working my way down the house ..... main stairs next, let's see what the vacuum thinks of that !
I was more disappointed to see I'd only managed 500 steps on my FitBit, lol ... oh well, onwards and downwards!
Anyway, look forward to joining in "properly" from next week, as I do feel it's time to try and defeat some of the piles, especially before the weather picks up and I spend the rest of my time down the allotment!
Have a good weekend all

Round you might need to offer an ear if you are on those kind of terms.. it sounds like they've some kind of upset going on if they have a looping song.. I'm quite fortunate I have no English speaking neighbours so I don't have to pretend I am sociable.Nails prettied.Food, cuppa and I might fling some stuff in the girls room while Dot is playing on the xbox and watching rhubarb. They didn't empty my recycling bin and left a stick so not 100% sure what was wrong in it grr7 -
!!!!!! - the hairdresser was on holiday but my sister didn't go in with her last time so missed that little gem. And mum forgot she has an appointment card with information on ... and I wasn't aware this happened.
left a message on sis's phone ...she texted me - did I get it sorted? well no ... because THERE'S NO-ONE IN TO SORT IT WITH. Am I the only person who goes IN with mum? Because she is past retaining and relaying information now. *kicks imaginary cat*Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily DickinsonJanice 1964-2016

Valli, I don't blame you being so frustrated!
Dailies done, WM going now, another load to do later.
Empty house next door where lovely neighbours used to live has been empty since Oct, and tonight new people have been in and out. Haven't met them yet. I hate change, and parking on our road is already tough, I hope they don't have huge cars!Married 40y.o. mum of an autistic 11y.o. Carer/SAHM.

@cloth_of_gold I have heard too many bad experiences from friends who have gone down the varifocal route to know I do not want them! Much happier to have two separate pairs of glasses. It's good you took time to visit your friend in need…
@Valli – sending you hugs – what an awful situation xxx
Pottered about a bit today and did some washing and sorted out fridges. Went next door this evening to DS's and we had G&T and discussed his next steps re the DIY he needs to do. He's doing really well with it all (there is a LOT that needs doing!) and in a logical way.
The temp repair I did to my reading glasses on Wednesday has failed so I've resorted to a lot more masking tape to make sure the arm remains in place... It now sticks out (can't fold it in) like someone's limb encased in plaster - totally unbendable. But hopefully that'll work for a while...
Love to all xxxI am the leading lady in the movie of my life

Hi all
Not a bad day, glad it's weekend. Feeling a bit flat but not sure why. Maybe I am just tired.
Welcome Zed42.
I need to make a plan for the weekend, DH has been flying so things are fairly tidy. I might have a glass of Christmas present gin.9 -
Hello,
I joined you, YL, with the gin. Actually, tbh, I downed it by 6.30, shortly after getting in from work. That was another week that was. Another day, another role in the organisation. Please make it stop, I want to get off!!
Rain, rain and more rain here. The ever growing potholes have become trenches, and are now rivers. But I did keep thinking of ASB, and hoping that she has cold and not more wet. Also, ASB, I am engrossed in the book you recommended. Not good for my lunch breaks or any other time that I can sneak a few pages x
Flying for the week has been the minimal dailies, plus HHI. DW is currently running, I have WULTD, wm is loaded for the morning.
Hugs to all, especially to YL and your DS, Valli, and anyone else who would like one. After last night’s impressive stint in the WAC (12.30am, I ask you!), I have lardy cake as an offering. Not to everyone’s taste, I am sure so I’ll offer up my Christmas shortbread too. Back in the morning to re-commence flying extraordinaire. Maybe.4 -
Evening all, and welcome to Zed42.
It must be the real Groundhog Day. This morning I just managed to complete and submit online the medical questionnaire for the hospital where I'm going for he cataract surgery (and cross another job off my Toots list), before the same BeeTee engineer who came last Friday to replace the old home hub came again to replace the new one with a proper Eee-Eee device! Mind you, it was touch and go whether the postman would get here before the engineer, as the Royal Male(!) '48' delivery service took nearer 75 hours. The new Wi-fi is working well atm
After a very quick lunch I dashed off to Action Heart for my review, which was good. Then I went to the big shopping mall, and
- dropped off a big bag of stuff at the CS
- bought own-brand coffee which does not give me a migraine from the angelic store, for a considerably better price than the other brand that also does not lay me out flat on my back for 3 days. I remembered to use up some gift cards, so the balance to pay was just 90p
- spent the wicked sum of 98p on 2 perfectly adequate dish brushes in the "Home, home on it" store, but couldn't find two other things that I need
- put petrol in my car for the first time since before Christmas (I obviously haven't been using it very much)
- called in at the posh stationery store and bought a green highlighter to replace the one that I thought had run out and been decluttered, only to find the old one afterwards in the pot on my desk with its mates. I have a small box of replacement pens etc, so the new one is now residing in there until needed
- went to the big MrAl and shopped for food for the week ahead
- came home, carried the shopping bags in and unpacked them
- quickly cooked a stir-fry for tea and WULTD (DH's job) so that DH could get to his wargames on time.
I was awake at 5 this morning and hadn't had any zzz since, so I am shattered now. I shall be going to bed early.
I wish everyone "G'night" and hope you have a good weekend. See you tomorrow xxx
ETA: Ooh Fayolle, lardy cake *and* shortbread - I am so looking forward to both!7 -
