@MinnieMousesMummy we were with the AA for donkey's years (On A's card it said "Member since 1963
) That loyalty counted for nothing and every year it went up until 3 years go they wanted over £250, which was obviously ridiculous. Green Flag were offering the same protection for, iirc, £67 so we went with them. Last year it went up to £76 which we accepted as everything had shot up but this year they wanted nearly £100, so I challenged it and they left it at last year's rate.
The same thing happened with our D&G washer/dryer insurance this year, except when challenged they didn't just leave it at last year's cost they reduced the it quite a bit - down form £16 odd a month to £12. It's definitely worth challenging these quotes a well as shopping around.Overslept so no flying to report yet, although given that I flew high yesterday it might be a flying 'lite' day.7 -
I'm feeling really really low and I have no clue why...

Rather a slow start following a late night - but worth it as the Japanese drummers we saw at the Barbican were brilliant. A bit of an interesting drive home from my friend's as first a deer leaped across the road just in front of me (I missed it) then, having gone the small-country-lane route, I discovered it must have rained quite a lot in the evening as there were more and larger puddles than I'd anticipated. Still, safely home.
- put slow cooker on for this evening
- had a brief wander round the house tidying. Got overnight bag out. I'm conscious that tomorrow afternoon or evening I'm going down to Mum's so whatever the house looks like, it will be the same (only dustier) when I come home on Sunday....and Mr N's flight lands on Monday at 5am. It would be nice if the house looked impressive so he doesn't feel he has to immediately start flying. Actually I'm reasonably impressed with what I've done, considering I've not felt well for some of the time.
I had 2 of my least favourite jobs to do this morning - why is it so many of us dislike making phone calls? Anyway I have booked the car MOT (by far the easier of the two). I really, really intended to quiz my car insurance company about their quote, but felt I should have my purse (with cc) next to me for the call and I couldn't find it. I'm not usually surprised or alarmed as I rarely use cash and haven't been out much this week .....but after an increasingly-frantic search I finally found it. Of course it was in the place I'd first looked. I think I will tie something bright on it as it is a black purse and lurks in the corner of bags. So of course now I have to change to go to uni so unless I finish early, the insurance argument will have to wait till tomorrow.Remember...a layer of dust protects the wood beneath it.9 -
Got out first thing to do some shed sorting jobs. Did a load of washing and dry stuff is away already. Chilli in slow cooker and started loading dishwasher.
Bought a wrap crimpit which I tested out for lunch 😀

Hi all
I have had a very unhelpful message from DS about an urgent colonoscopy appointment he has to go for. I assume that he will need me to drive him there but at the moment I don't know when it is, there was some suggestion that it might be this Friday, but who knows. Hopefully all will become clear fairly soon.
Another busy day at the paid stuff. It's all getting on top of me a bit but I am doing my best to not let it overwhelm me. I am trying to get to grips with positive affirmations which is a very strange concept but I can see how it can help with the negative thinking.
House is tidy, there is some clean laundry to put away which I should do because most of my undies are in the tumble drier! Feet up for a bit first.

Evening all. Lots of hugs to those who need them and there are some out there I see.
I'm generally OK with life at the mo - kids are well, pets are well, house is a tip but what's new? Have done some swish and swiping and washing and ironing.
Disaster struck last night though - one of the 'arms' (the bit you hook over your ear) of my reading spectacles broke off randomly when I was cleaning the lens. I was not applying any force at, it just broke about a mm or so above the hinge. I searched through kitchen drawers and it's now 'splinted' back in place with a cocktail stick and a bit of blue masking sticky tape. But, whilst they sit on my ears, and my nose, they are v. loose (photo can be provided of the fix if required!).
So, phoned opticians this morning explaining the situation. Asked if I could have a repeat prescription set but they said no, I needed a full eye test (free as I'm over 60 yo) before they could do anything because it was two years since I last had one. Fortunately, they had an appointment available at 2.30 this avo. So, I have been retested, ordered new spectacles (one for intermediate distance and one for reading - they tried to sell me some sort of vari-focal that they called 'office' but I refused).
£120 later, I'm hoping the masking tape and cocktail stick splint on my current reading glasses will continue to do the job until the new pairs arrive... Otherwise I'll have to fashion some sort of lorgnette from the remains with a skewer attachment rather than a cocktail stick splint...
Love to all xxx

I wish I'd had a crazy cat today. Have had a horrible week. Had to have our darling cat put to sleep yesterday. Recurrance of the lung cancer she had last year. She had a lobe removed last time, which we discovered after it was removed was cancer. We couldn't put her through it again. We were so lucky to have nearly another year with her. Rest in peace little one.Not much flying being done at the moment. Will get back to it at some point.Make £2025 in 2025
