  • That's the exact reason I bought one!!:rotfl:

I wonder if the next TomTom model will feature a function which sulks and tells you you obviously know it all already, if you ignore its directions.

fair enough if you're travelling to spain or anywhere else in europe, i suppose my main argument against shat navs is that people buy them to be told the directions to their mums house and then never use them again. unless you're a taxi driver or you are driving lots, i still can't see the point of using one.
    helpful tips
    it's spelt d-e-f-i-n-i-t-e-l-y
there - 'in or at that place'
    their - 'owned by them'
    they're - 'they are'
it's bought not brought (i just bought my chicken a suit from that new shop for £6.34)
  • the times you need one are if your going somewhere new, and you dont know the way and want all the features we have listed above...you would only use it going to your mums if either a) you didnt know the way or b) wanted to know where there were potential 'accident blackspots'

A good idea to use your new sat nav in a familiar area so you can learn how to use it and also what to expect.

Mine has come in handy for avoiding traffic.. It means I can trace a route through the backroads that I have never driven on and avoid the queue

I agree that SatNavs are more intended for people who have more adventure in their lives than going to their mum's house. Last weekend it was used by myself to get to a hotel on the outer Lakes, 4 poster bed and champagne on arrival. It wouldn't quite have been as stress free and romantic if I have had to ask the other half to get the map out and sort out the directions from door to door. Would have spoiled the element of surprise as to where we were going for a start.

Next weekend it will be used to navigate to Liverpool (never been before) for a concert - so I won't have to leave half an hour earlier to allow for getting lost.

I am not sure why you think people buy them to go to somewhere that they know how to get to. 'Tis indeed for people who get about a bit!

    1. you shouldn't need to keep it plugged into the cigarette lighter all the time, just when charge is running low.

    2. yes

    3. make sure it sits in your house when you're not using it, never leave it or any signs of it in your car when it is unattended because some scrote will smash your window looking for it . does not require to be permanently or semi-permanently fixed at all.

    4. just clean the sucker mark off your windscreen every time you remove the holder, use a cloth or anything, just make sure the window is clean and dry when you fix it again. The sucker mark is a tell tale sign that you have a sat nav, if the scrotes see this (shows up worse on frosty mornings at 4am when they're out nicking), they will assume you are lazy enough to leave the mark on, you are lazy enough to leave the sat nav in the glove box and will try and steal it. So be careful

Sounds quite scary but as long as you keep to the above advice you won't be unlucky enough to have anyone try to take it. Obviously what I have described is worst case scenario if you lived in an area with high crime.

    Happy navving
