Never been a fan of the garmin... Mother in law had the Nuvi 300T and the mapping is terrible.. It has 3 settings and in order to see all roads you have to use the show all setting but this causes lag on it.. Turn the maps to show most and you miss a lot of little streets and sometimes the routing doesnt work... She had it for 2 months and then got rid of it.. Only good point was the traffic module that she had with it... This worked brilliantly and is the reason I am buying one for my TOMTOM 720
  • You can get a TT One Classic for £93.99 here http://www.totalpda.co.uk/TomTom-ONE.aspx
Its the old model refurbished by TT but they work fine, and you get a 2 yr warranty.

Shifting up slightly, I've just had delivered at TT GO720 from ebuyer.

Western Europe maps, all the latest voice activation dodahs, the mutts nuts for £185 inc vat.:j look at their bundles for cheap accessories too.

Thats about 40 quid less than all the others are selling it for. Its even cheaper than some TT One units on ebuyer.

For those of you who have got one of these tomtoms can you look in the manual and or onthe back of the unit and tell me if it accepts a 24volt supply as i want to put it in my truck.

My current GPS is a medion and that works fine with 24v but the plebs in halfords couldnt tell me if it was 24v compatible.

All TomTom power leads are 12/24v. It will work in the truck.
Dont bother with Halfrauds, check out my earlier post for some good deals.

You'll be wanting the bridge height database? £10
    www.lowbridges.com

Speed cameras database? You pay a sub of about £10, but if you submit new cameras site you get a FREE life membership, like I did.

If you were quick you could have got it from Currys/PCworld for £159.99 (£153.78 from PCworld) because of the e-mail Argos sent out... They both pricematched the price error and PCWORLD actually gave you the 10% difference as well.

I got 1 for myself 1 for my Brother in law and 1 for the mother in law..

Currys had actually dropped thier price to £180 for a few days as well but its now went up again and showing out of stock now
  • I bought the Xmas version end of Nov and got a small refund when it went down before Xmas. After seeing the price now (and with their extended returns policy) I wrote and asked for a refund of the difference. First email reply said no. Wrote back and asked if I could return the one I had and order another one and HEY PRESTO they said I could have the refund. £19.98 in my pocket to offset Xmas!!

Worth ago for those who bought before Xmas.
  • Is this model about to be replaced? Still a bargain of course, just wondering.
  • Guys, hate to be the bearer of bad news. Saw Tom Tom One GB on sale at Toys R Us today for £75.....:j
  • Jane, is that the lastest model (version three) though?
  • Hmmm, tried to look on website to find out if offer is latest version (three) but no luck. I'll certainly feel a lot happier if it isn't (and it's the old one) as I've taken your lead and purchased from Amazon....
