Tom Tom v3 Christmas Cracker - £99.99 + free del

Personally I would wait a week or so for this one to be worthwhile.
Amazon have over 1000 left and the packaging is very Christmassy.
Unless they are going to rebox them I think they may well have to discount them further
Christmas packaging or not - I don't think they'd have a problem shifting them in July at £99.99!
Some cheap generic sat navs are selling for that price. Be nice if they do cut the price further though - it'll convince me I NEED to buy one (despite not having a driving licence - but that's work in progress);)0 -
Last time I checked, the Garmin units use generally better regarded maps than the TomTom (NAVTEQ versus TeleAtlas). TomTom only shipped the NAVTEQ maps on their very top-end units. TomTom are in the process of buying / have bought TeleAtlas.
But they are all very good units. I'm just off to buy the Garmin 250 - it is a steal at £115 inc free case from Amazon - my father paid around £170 for his 6 months ago with no free case. He travels extensively in Europe and really rates the maps.
Europe doesn't always mean the same thing either; the European low-end TomTom is not very good in places such as Portugal or more Eastern Europe locations - Portugal is 84% and Eastern europe nil; versus the Garmin which is much more extensive

Hope that helps you all choose wisely!

Haha - I like the way you think
I'm gonna buy one when I pass my driving test anyway but if these Christmas boxed ones get any cheaper I'll probably give in and buy now0 -

I bought it with my TomTom One. It gets awful reception if you place it as the manual suggests but if I place it along my windscreen (rather than up the side of the windscreen) I get good reception.
I've used it twice now - once no delays - second time was boxing day on the M62 - it showed all the problems and I came off a junction early to avoid a jam. Worth the extra £20 I paid.
Hope this helps.0 -
hmmm, I went into halfords today to look at the garmin 250 and the tomtom one v3 europe- i had a fiddle with them and it seems that on the garmin you cannot see a preview of the route before you set off, whereas on the tomtom you can look at the directions on the on screen map as well as being able to get a written list of the directions to look at.
I think I would like to have some idea of where the sat nav might take me on any given journeys that I can ask for an alternative route if I know the first route it gives me may be unsuitable for any reason - also I would feel more prepared on long journeys having some idea of where I am going!
Apart from that, both seemed fine. I asked the twelve year old assistant if he knew whether there was a way (on the garmin) of getting the directions up before making the journey, and he said not - but if anyone knows different, please do let me know!

For those of you who have got one of these tomtoms can you look in the manual and or onthe back of the unit and tell me if it accepts a 24volt supply as i want to put it in my truck.
My current GPS is a medion and that works fine with 24v but the plebs in halfords couldnt tell me if it was 24v compatible.
Cheers

The manual for the nuvi250 is here:

I'm pretty sure from the looks of it:
1) enter your destination and start navigation
2) Touch the text bar at the top of the screen to see the turn list (page 7)
3) If you want to view the complete map of where you are going, zoom out further?
Hope that helps!

Lucky mine is next to the PC
I cant find any deffinate info in the manual
BUT...
On the car charger it says... INPUT 12/24v - OUTPUT 5v2A
So to me that says yes it works on 24v0 -
