I hope you’re all ok. Still got my awful cough. So still sleeping on the sofa. Back at work which has actually been ok. I’m glad I actually like my job.

So yesterday we had chilli/burritos for dinner, I’m doing curry tonight as really don’t fancy carbonara. Don’t really fancy curry to be honest, my appetite is all over the place with feeling so rough. I made some bagels and some more bread yesterday. Still getting to grips with the air fryer bagel recipe, they taste amazing but look somewhat rustic and are so messy to make. Both children helped me load the bread maker and make the bagels which was nice.

Today will be a NSD, OH has bought me some medicine but that has come out of his spends. I need to tally my money as I think a lot of things have got a bit lost and I’d like to see where I am on budget. I’m hoping the food budget will continue to work. It’s not high but will hopefully be doable…

I’m very much looking forward to getting home and under the duvet.

Hi sorry been MIA for the last couple of days, work has been super busy and I’m still feeling rough. A bit better but still rough. I’ve tried to be No spends but I did forget my lunch one day and spent £2.40 on lunch and £2.50 on a lottery ticket….

Was tempted to buy lunch yesterday and today. But I’m very pleased to say I didn’t, in fact today I had a lovely cheese sandwich. Made with left over cheese board cheese from Xmas and hm bread.

£50 has sorted the shopping this week, I spent about £47.85 and am going to use the other 2.15 to get some wraps and some beans and milk to last until Sunday. I seem to have used an awful lot of fuel this week, I’ve tried to drive carefully but I just do a lot of miles. So have had to up the fuel budget. I’ve got another £120 to last the month.

The children want to go to the cinema tomorrow I need to find some money for that somewhere.

OH suggested trying to go on holiday in April so I’d like to save as much as I can for that and make it happen as the children haven’t been abroad for 8 years and I’d like to try and make it happen for them, just cheap self catering. Also I’m trying to be realistic about what I’ll do after this year if I do get made redundant. I am trying to do some qualifications which will take this year and get some more experience so that I can do contract work. So I’m going to save enough money to get the qualifications and experience.

I’ve booked an eye test for me and May for Monday I’ve applied for a voucher from work. I get it for free and possibly money toward glasses. But not totally so I’ll need to find some money for that. I’m going to try and put £500 aside. Small business is still pulling in a little money.  I’ll do some sums and see if it’s doable.

    Enchiladas for dinner tonight.

If they haven't been abroad for a while are their passports up to date?  If not don't forget you will need to add that into the cost.

Sounds like you are doing well though :)

Just back from Lidl and spent £4.98 as had some change in my purse, I got wraps, crisps, 2 x beans, milk, 2 x tomatoes and a tin of kidney beans.

Dinner is enchiladas as I said earlier. Breakfast over the weekend will be porridge with the last 2 sorry bananas. Lunch will be either tomato soup or egg sandwiches, with crisps and left over Xmas chops. Snacks will be carrot sticks and oranges. Dinner tomorrow will be some sort of chicken and potato thing with Brussels. And Sunday will be a sausage stew thing with left over pigs in blankets and sausages from the freezer left over from Xmas.

Arrghhhh Have just had my car valued and it appears I have lost £7k on it in 13 months!!!!!!! I have no idea how. I am devastated as I got a loan to pay it and have just been seemingly paying the loan for nothing for the last year. Such a lot of money to waste, need to get rid of car as the age and model of it means there will no doubt be problems going forward which will cost a fortune, 2 garages have happily told me today ….. and we need a bigger car as it needs to be able pull a trailer. But the next car is going to cost £5k more!!!! I’m just astounded this has happened. Sorry I know it’s very much first world problems but it’s real to me.

Blimey. I can’t believe that. When my DS went back to university 3 years ago and sold his car he got more for it than he had paid for it.

Missy, have you only had the car 13 months? I’d imagine you can keep it quite a bit longer before prohibitive garage costs mean trading it in, if it cost more than £7k to start with (which it must have if you’re saying it’s dropped £7k in value). I think a lot of people trade in cars far too early out of fear of garage costs. The reality is that you know that if you trade it in you’re out of pocket for thousands. If you keep it, you only think you might be out of pocket for garage costs.

Only you know if you can afford a new car but I think you are almost always better keeping a car for a few years not trading in each year.

We’ve had it up for sale privately for 6 weeks with not even a phone call and then we’ve lowered the price a lot, and still nothing,  I was stupid and didn’t research the car and the make and model for the year starts to be problematic when it gets past a certain age, which mine is coming up to, apparently it’s known knowledge according to the now 3 garages I’ve spoken to! I did over pay originally but for low mileage and car was pristine and had a years warranty. But that now seems to stand for nothing. We have to get a bigger car to pull the trailer regardless so can’t keep it. I’m just so shocked and annoyed. The next car I want to get and just keep and run into the ground, so must be reliable, We have a second much older car, as need 2 cars, which has 130k miles on it so need something better than that for reliability for the longer journeys etc. thanks for your replies

Struggling a little too today. As have announced we’re getting rid of big and little business today, and have had lots of messages. Very emotional. Not the best day. Looking forward to it being over. Sorry for moaning.
