Thanks @jwil and @beanielou it’s amazing how easy it is to spend without thinking.@Cheery_Daff. I have heard of Rhonda from different threads but never actually read her thread. So thank you, I have already clicked on your link and started reading.
@Bluegreen143 did indeed give me some wise advice at not getting carried away. It is so easy on here, reading about other people’s lives and imagining a different one for yourself. I just need to find a happy medium.
i do work an awful lot and could do with going back to working from home at least twice a week, which is doable.I think I have the dreaded •vid. I am not feeling well. So I am all huddled up on a makeshift bed on the floor in the lounge. OH is pottering around and I have coffee so I’m ok. I don’t feel horrendous I just don’t feel well. So time to make lists, I have put some washing on. I do need to do some shopping but there are not slots left for tomorrow.5 -

Thanks lovelies, I’ve done very little all day apart from make dinner and wash and hang some washing. I’m still on my make do bed in the lounge. It’s actually quite nice. I might do this in the evenings to catch up on sleep as struggle to sleep if I go to bed and leave OH downstairs.Just checked the smart meter and we’ve used £5 today! Oh was using the steamer for an hour so might be that. But I can’t afford that each day! I can’t seem to log in to my British G@$ app.In other news, whilst languishing in bed I was looking online at natural deodorant and almost ordered one. But when I checked, I realised I have at least 12 months worth of roll-on stored under the bed. Along with as much shower gel. I do use roll on and spray usually, but only have about 3 months worth of spray. So might just see how I get on with just roll on and save the spray for summer. Will relook at the wild and Fussy make deodorants when I’ve used everything.OH has his tests tomorrow not sure how long results will take. But am a little worried for him. I’m picking the children up from their dads tomorrow, hoping to feel better so we can have a nice New Year’s Eve.Have £30 for this weeks food budget but might get staple items for the following week to make it up to £40 for free delivery. I have a budget of £240-£250 until the end of January. I have bits and pieces in and have done a rough meal plan but need to make a proper one. Am looking forward to making bread and bagels.Going to make a cuppa and watch a film. Hope you’re all ok.5

Hi everyone and Happy New Year. I hope you had a nice NYE.
Ours didn’t go to plan unfortunately. BIL and SIL ended up having an argument of which we are some how involved, although it’s down to their lack of communication about whether we can store something at theirs. It appears BIL hadn’t actually asked his wife despite Telling us it was all ok! And it all came to light yesterday. So they didn’t come round, I had cancelled anyway as I’m still ill! It will all come out in the wash today I’m sure.OH went to the drs for tests, and the dr phoned him up at 1815, of which OH missed the call, and the dr left a message to just say he’d try later, so OH is super worried, and obviously when he tried to phone back there was no answer with it being late on NYE. So worried as to what they’ve found…..So it was all very subdued! But the children had a nice time. I managed to find some energy to play some
computer Games with them and we watched the fireworks on tv.
Ended up getting up at 5 and sleeping on the sofa as I was coughing so much. OH is still asleep, I’ve just taught DS how to make porridge in the microwave but the oats took forever to cook then boiled over 🤦🏻♀️ so need to try again with him next time as I thought I’d start with how I mean to go on with the children doing more jobs.I went to Lidl yesterday and spent my £30 and 15p which I don’t mind. And I have enough food until Sunday where I will get my Sainsbugs shop. We are having lasagne today, with salad and garlic bread, and we are having bacon stew x 2 and chilli x 2 and pasta bake for the rest of the days. I got lots in Lidl it surprised me how far my money went. I had to pull myself away from buying a sewing machine for £119 from the middle aisle…. I was thinking of trying to start up a new hobby for 2025. But would I realistically use it…..? I’m quite taken with the thought though. But what would I make?
so today is going to be a lazy day, I’m working from home tomorrow, not particularly well enough for work but have bits to and will try and get my to do list done in quiet moments. So this year!I have plans to try and do the DIY on the house this year. I say this often but I mean it. So jobs to be done are:
paint lounge - have paint
Change lounge floor to laminate
tile bathroom - have tiles and grout
get and fit shower screen
put up blinds - have blinds but need adjusting
need to also replace stairs carpet and landing along with most of the others, but budget won’t stretch that far.I intend to get fit and healthy this year, it will cost nothing to use the garage gym. Drink more water and watch what I eat, along with getting more sleep.Get the children to be more independent with cooking and thinking for themselves.
Keep a handle on the budget, use pots and save as much as possible. And for the first time at least try and pay some extra off of the mortgage before June. Even if it’s £100 just to help my head know I’m paying it down, but no pressure.Be more organised so that stress is less.I want 2025 to be a low buy year. I don’t need to buy any clothes, I have minimal anyway, and wear a uniform for work. I provide the jeans though, if I do need any I shall get them from Vinted. I bought pants and socks a month or so ago, and more work boots so I should be good for this year. The children are growing at a rate of knots, and I know Roo will need some new school shoes and trousers soon. I will look on Vinted.I have monthly pots
£50 clothes for the children this includes school uniforms
£100 for birthdays and xmas
£50 school holidaysWe’ll see how January goes and if I need to adjust I will.
Right that’s enough for now, I will be back later I’m sure.6 -
We used hello fresh when I wanted DS to cook more stuff, the recipe cards are all in simple pictures - you can view them online so you don’t actually need to buy the boxes (though the starter offers are quite good)Sealed pot challenge 822

Thanks @jwil
so we’ve had a little tidy up today, the children tidied their rooms and May went through all of her clothes and has got rid of a black bag full for the clothes bank. OH is currently trying to fix the upstairs loo as it’s not working and I am now sat watching murder she wrote with small cat and a cup of tea. Still feeling ropey but the tablets have worked a little. May has informed me she would like to get rid of all her Barbie’s and babies. My heart broke a little when she told me. I hate the fact my babies are growing up. But I’ll put my big girl pants on and list them all on FB for her next week/next weekend, after we have sorted them.I let May make pasta for lunch, she requested it and talked her through it and she did it all, and she is now cutting up an apple herself after I refused to get up from my comfy space, both children do cooking at school and I need to let them just get on and learn by doing and not worry about the mess. So already going in the right direction for my New Year’s resolution. Will make lasagne later, I did inform May that I didn’t think pasta twice in a day was the best but she wanted it anyway.5
