Try not to get too disheartened, sometimes you just get these things all coming together xBecause I’ve taken the plate off (private one from my first marriage, which was one of the few things I kept!). As I said that cost me £80 to do and now I realise I need to update the insurance which is going to cost too 🤦🏻♀️.And thanks @blu@Bluegreen143 I’m trying to find a car that’s the same make as the second car as that just runs and runs and we have learnt how to fix minor problems with that.
Thanks for the thoughts re childcare. I can work from home often but sometimes my job is customer facing and I’m the only person who can do it. It’s the early start and late finish which is the problem. I’ll think more on it. I hate the fact I’ll have to ask Ex as he works away and may not be able to do it but he always makes me feel awful about asking,
as if I’m going on a round the world cruise or similar, not working !!! There’s a reason he’s an ex!
Ok today I’m going to get things done:Hang washing
sort washing
put clothes away
make banana bread
make biscuits
Decide on dinner
tax return
help OH
wash sheets
sort May’s hair
Just waiting for the WM to finish. Then I will hang the washing and maybe have some breakfast. Cough is still really bad. Have googled it 🙄. Obv Dr Google is law 🤦🏻♀️. And it sounds very much like RSV. So it will go, it’s just taking it’s time.I think once I have my tax return done and have spoken to ex I will feel a bit better. Just need to work up to do both. I’m one of these people that self sabotage and procrastinate for no reason. I need to stop. Will try and be kind to myself today.3 -
good luck with the tax return and speaking to ex - you have a lot on - things will get easier soon xMortgage at largest £280050 with MF date 2038 - current in the £160s whoop whoop2

So have hung, and sorted washing and sheets are now in the wash. Pe bag is packed and breakfast is eaten.I went shopping on Friday and spent £34 for the week, but managed to use nectar points for £10. Did forget Mays chocolate spread though, so have enough cash for that. Just! I can’t remember if I said but I bought a shower screen! Have been needing to tile over the bath and put a shower screen in for years. Have tiles now and the screen was half price so I got it, just need to pick it up. Not the best timing as money is short, but it is needed! Now there is nothing stopping me from sorting that out. Well apart from time. OH is away for 2 weeks in Feb, so I may try and do it then!Money is still tight, not helped by all the outgoings. Will try and get to grips with everything today. But I helped the budget by telling OH we weren’t going out last night and instead made us a curry. Probably saved about £80! OH is a lot more on board now, which is helpful.
and thank you for your kind words @i@Idreamofplants.3 -
Here’s a question I wonder if you lovely people can answer. How would one go about asking for a pay rise. Is it verbal, written? Is it with my direct boss or with the director above him. What’s reasonable? Any thoughts would be appreciated.1

Hope you have a successful day and good luck with the tax return! Just think how great it will be to get it out of the way and to know roughly how much you need to pay - think positive!
Yes the engine and cars you mention are well known for faults. Personally I would just drive it until it all fails and then call it quits but we do have a backup car that we could share if required.
You are doing well, especially for January when we are all feeling a bit fed up and skint. Keep at it x1 -
Sorry about the car.

Oh I'm so sorry you've had a trying few weeks Missy 😔 first world problems maybe but they're stressy when they happen and can cause all sorts of worry.
Please tell me the car is not an Audi ...we've just bought one and it's over ten years old..... 🙏🏻🙈
I think I'd try and just run with yours and start a savings pot ASAP for the new one and when it goes get rid then and buy another. You may be lucky and it may hold out longer than is the average time for them to go. I had a scenic a few years ago and that had nothing but problem after problem. My friend had one same year and hers was running a good six years after I sold mine on. So sometimes you will get lucky....good to anticipate problems but I wouldn't get rid of a car just in case it goes wrong eventually.
Hope next week is better for you and you finally shake off this cold you've had.MORTGAGE BALANCE when we moved Aug 2024, £120,000. January 1st £118,267.06.
