Had a quick read through as I'm trying to catch up after a 5 week break!
I just wanted to add to the kitchen comments.
I would be very wary of buying certain built in appliances. I am particularly thinking of the integrated fridge freezer. When the original broke I had it repaired but eventually I had to get it replaced and even using all the on-line suppliers I had the choice of just one which had to come from Surrey. The problem seems to be not just the dimensions of the 'hole' but the door configuration.
I think washing machines, ovens, dishwashers aren't quite such a problem although a friend has a built in dishwasher & I think the integrated door has never closed on the replacement because it is a teeny bit deeper, or the machine door is slightly different!
At the start everything looks wonderful but sadly electronic devices don't have an amazingly long life and that's when a problem may start..........Being polite and pleasant doesn't cost anything!

I get really irritated in kitchens where you can't see where the appliances are. And if you start becoming confused, all the doors looking identical isn't going to promote independence!Signature removed for peace of mind1

It should look nice and fresh. I admit it's a bit too near to Christmas especially as the weather has turned. You don't need unpheaval - you just need a warm cozy house.1

Love your paint choices Humboldt, lovely clean colours. I want to decorate our bedrooms but think it can wait until next year now.Our downstairs toilet is leaking, the plumber has tried to fix but looks like it will need taking out and totally refitting. So think that may be our last job of the this year, barring more unforeseen repairs.Money SPENDING Expert1

Morning @uralmaid I intend to paint the bathrooms before Christmas, and following our winter sun holiday in January, it is my intention to paint all other rooms in the house. I find the thought of having to choose more paint colours worse than the actual work involved lol. On the paint manufactures website they provide information regarding what colours compliment those that I have bought. I thought this would make it easier to choose and create a cohesive colour scheme in the house. Hoping for a warm, yet fresh, contemporary look that appeals for resale (not that we intend to move house just yet).
@bluenose1 I have to agree with @uralmaid re: not needing too much disruption so close to Christmas. Redecorating your bedrooms will be a lovely activity in the Spring. Fingers crossed that the toilet repair isn't too costly.0 -
We are having to replace the furniture in the upstairs bathroom after Xmas. That bathroom is always sopping wet everywhere after a shower - even though we have an extractor fan and as a result the furniture which is dark blue is all starting to peel. Only had it done less than 3 years ago too and it wasnt cheap. We have just replaced the fan with a much stronger one and can see the difference already. Going to go for white I think as it will be less noticeable if it happens again.1

Have been busy this week - Monday was Craft Club and yesterday was a committee meeting for the local village social centre. We are holding a Christmas meal in a couple of weeks and myself and a friend have decided to make new decorations for the hall. Last weekend I made 15 Christmas table settings for the event too. Today I have been busy designing a recruitment poster as we need some more committee members - not sure how successful it will be though as a lot of the villagers don't seem to support events but it's worth a try. Been struggling with my hip this week too as I twisted when trying to retrieve some decorations from the loft and it has been giving me a bit of discomfort ever since. #Hate getting older!!2
