Kaz.. mine are too fat to squeeze through with the chain on but the ne who is the most stupid is the one who opens the door reaching up to ping on the handle.. it is because the door is not secure, it wouldn't open otherwise. I have applied for the council loan to get the door replaced.. I cannot do another winter with this level of draughts.. it is freezing.
I need to do something.. I have shuffled forms and am not paying anything until after the 1st so I know what is left.
I could decide it is lunch time first.. and have a cuppa.. I've not had time to read any of my book since Thursday.. I'd quite like a nap too.

Admin done, dog walked, blood test done. Bedding and sofa covers changed. Washing machine currently working through a mountain of washing. Meter readings done ( the smart meter has stopped working), toy back in shed, most of house hoovered through. Finally I've had something to eat so there are dishes to wash shortly.Spend less now, work less later.8

Hugs @Valli , when my gran was poorly with cancer there was definitely an increase in sibling issues in my family too, and my mum was doing the bulk of the work but also took most of the bad moods, whilst one aunt was virtually invisible, and my uncle made 1 visit a week and did no labour. He had been, and remained, the golden child. There was a thing on r4 (woman's hour or you and yours, can't recall which) a few weeks ago, and apparently it's extremely common
S&S x2, WMx1, heated airer on for prev load. First coat on cupboard and small patch of wall. Junior Flamingo off with a cold, and the dog is acting a bit weird and lethargic.
To do: keep and eye on dog, washing on line, FUPA prev load, lunches, 2nd paint coat, put everything away when driedMarried 40y.o. mum of an autistic 11y.o. Carer/SAHM.

@Valli I'm sorry you're having such a stressful time. It's difficult in these situations because you can't always second guess the other person's thoughts/emotions/motivations etc. I very much hope that you can sort things out with your sister as it would be terrible if you had a serious rupture in your relationship. I've had some tense times with my brother over the years but we have managed to hold it together reasonably ok fortunately. I think that although in many ways we're quite different we do have a lot of shared history and as we get older value having each other there, albeit at a distance, and I'm very pleased that we didn't let our differences develop an irreparable rift. It can be tough sometimes though, I know. Anyway, I'm adding my hugs to everyone else's.Yesterday I didn't do a lot of flying. I did a load of washing and then TD'd it and other than that it was just the usual cooking and washing up and administering eye meds. I also popped to the shops and to the building society. I did (potentially) make a bit of progress on getting a grave for the burial of my friend's ashes. Before Christmas I discovered online that a number of his recent ancestors are buried in the village where his father was born and brought up. Initially I thought they were buried in the church graveyard and rang the vicar to enquire about a grave there, if the churchyard were not closed. She didn't ring back though and as it was coming up to Christmas I thought she would be busy so decided to leave it for a while.I was going to ring again last week and then realised that they are buried in a cemetery in the village, not in the churchyard, so I contacted the parish council clerk and she rang me back on Monday and sounded quite positive about letting me bury the ashes in the cemetery. She has to look into the matter further and discuss it with others and will come back to me. This would be the ideal outcome as far as I'm concerned and getting the matter resolved would be a weight off my mind. There is some way to go yet but hopefully it will work out. This morning I took some recycling down and bought the paper. Then I came back and gave the bathroom a fairly thorough clean, did another load of washing and TD'd it. A grocery delivery arrived so I put that away, made lunch and washed up. I was going to clean the kitchen but by this time had run out of steam so it will have to wait - it's not that bad anyway.I've just had a pikelet with Marmite and two oat shortbread biscuits with my coffee. Too much really but for some reason I had the munchies. I also feel tired and would like a nap but on the rare occasions I sleep during the day I end up feeling groggy rather than refreshed. The amaryllis we are looking after whilst our friends are on holiday is coming out too quickly, despite being placed in the coolest, un-sunniest spot in the flat. I fear it will be virtually over by the time they get back. Our third is still some way off flowering so I might give them that instead.8

Well, I feel like saying "Knickers!" to today and just battening down the hatches and hiding under my blanket...
On the positive side
- I have done everything off my list except go to Action Heart or book the lunch in April
- I have cleaned the kitchen thoroughly as per yesterday's list and even mopped the floor
- I have cleaned DH's ensuite thoroughly as per today's list
- DH stripped his bed and carried the sheets etc and his dirty clothes out to the utility
- we worked together to make up his bed with fresh linen (actually it's fairly cheap cotton )
- I have done WM/partial TDx3 and am about to hang the undies on the bathroom radiator to dry overnight
- I found a suitable birthday card for DH and also remembered to buy a thin piece of timber for the bottom of K's roller blind
- DH and I have agreed that we should like to book a holiday this spring
- I got to my optician's appointment on time; my eyesight is still good enough for me to continue driving for the time being; and the shop manageress and I had a nice chat about Brittany and family gatherings
On the not-so-positive side
- the optician says that the cataracts in both my eyes, but particularly the left, are bad enough to need surgery asap - and if that doesn't have the desired outcome, something may also have to be done about my periretinal membranes
- I have been forced to do some research on the NHS options for cataract ops: free treatment at private hospitals, and I have a choice of three, but the one which the optician recommends (and which has the most informative website) is furthest away on the far side of Millennium City (so I would have to put up with DH's driving, which scares me) and the one in our town has only limited facilities to deal with any post-op problems
- future holiday and lunch bookings will have to be postponed at least until I have an idea of how soon I might get the cataract ops (rumours suggest anything from 4 weeks to 3 months)
Knicker, knickers, knickers!!!
I hope your day has been good xxx7 -

Thanks pigpen, that's a very prompt appointment. I hope your mother's ops are successful too x8

@roundtuit sorry to read about P’s need for surgery I’m sure he will be fine xxx
@Asparklierblonde… I’m intrigued! (Love your posts BTW). You said you’ve fed the sheep (amongst other things) then will go and get dressed. – I now have this image of you walking out into the sheep field as the first light of dawn touches the horizon, in your nightie and dressing gown whilst also wearing a pair of green Hunter wellies (to save your slippers) and lugging a bale of hay into a feed trough as a herd of sheep bleat at you…
@Valli – huge hugs, sending you a lorry-load of spoons to help you cope xxx Your sister sounds ..um... challenging xxx
@Cloak-of-gold good news about the potential scattering of ashes in a relevant burial ground. xxx
I have managed to fly a bit today...
- Made a loaf of bread from scratch,
- Put a pheasant in the slow cooker for dinner tonight which I will eat shortly...
- Cleaned the hearth
- Put a WM load on which is now on the airer (maiden) in front of the fire.
- Sorted out my Mr T order for tomoz,
- Spoke to people on the phone and electronically about a new deal for my email...
- Given my new garden waste bin is due to be emptied tomoz, I took my clippers out into the side yard and cut back the flipping passion fruit vine that is seriously encroaching from next door (yes, my son's! I'll have words with him) and strangling everything else in it's path. In my view, it's worse than bindweed but is, I'll admit, a bit prettier...

Hugs to those in need, especially Valli and Ionafan.
Spent intermittent time in the WAC last night which wasn't a good start.
- but managed a gym swim followed by coffee with another ex-work friend.
- passed C00p on the way home so dropped off a bag of scrunchable plastic for recycling, got the 2 special offers of the week.
- prepared paperwork for the next 2 assessments: 1 tomorrow and the other 28 Feb, so hoping I get more referred to me in between.
- did 2hr webinar on Speech and Language disorders.
Bathroom flying went by the way; I was actually quite relieved to see it was bathroom today as I did them in the last few days. I feel as if I'm getting a cold; hopefully it is just tiredness, but I'm not up to much more although I did manage several rows of knitting, some drum practice and put a few more pieces in the jigsaw. Caught up with my Mum on the phone. Had a brief message from Mr N who is also very tired so was having an early night, so not much chat. His brother is on the plane now so will be joining him tomorrow, staying overnight at the ranch then they are heading off to the real wildlife watching so I'm not expecting much in communication from there.
I'm booked in for Body Pump before uni tomorrow, but I'll see how I feel. In theory it is Mr Ald1 on the way home but I'm not getting the hang of buying food for one person yet; went to find fish in the freezer this evening and of course everything is frozen in pairs so I guess I'll have salmon tomorrow as well. As a couple, we very rarely waste any food but it is hard keeping on top of what might be going off/past safe eating.Remember...a layer of dust protects the wood beneath it.8 -
hello all. pots washed, DW primed. Lottery entered.
I went to the aged ps to drop off some swedish glacé as stepdad is avoiding dairy but apparently wanted ice cream (?) and had a chat with mum…we talked about the past and relatives long gone, most of whom I never met and she was amazed that she and I have met up again, after ‘all this time’ but she was smiling at the reminiscences. Not spoken to sis. am aiming to put my foot down but quite expect to get it all thrown back at me and she’ll claim she needed to be in charge/do everything because I was ill. Am developing a reply for that scenario.Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily DickinsonJanice 1964-2016
