  • @crumpet_man You don’t have to wait until the switch completes to start making debit card purchases ( i purchased twenty £1 Amazon gift cards yesterday but only received my online activation code and the PIN code for my debit card today…and my switch completes on the 29th!) Also, the switch doesn’t have to include two active direct debits (I’ve only got one on the account I’m switching from) you just need set two up if you don’t have two from the bank you’re switching from. Usefully, it doesn’t have to be direct debits either…it can be standing orders. I’m going to set up a standing order to pay funds from the Spend and Save account into a savings account.

    Hope this helps

  • @crumpet_man I’ve just re read the direct debit requirements for that part of the switch and, unfortunately, standing orders are not included!…my bad  :s
However, it does state either switch or set up two direct debits…they don’t have to be part of the switch, just set either or both up yourself in the account via online or mobile banking.

Just had a quick read of the T&Cs. To get normal cashback you just need to open a new Spend & Save account. To get the double cashback you need to also do a switch.

If your switch completes in January and you've done the 20 debit card transactions in January then you should get the double cashback for January .... I think!

Direct debits are when you authorise someone to pull money from your account (usually comapnies to pay your bills). They aren't usually something you can set up yourself through online banking - you're likely thinking of standing orders.

But you're right in saying that you don't need to switch them - you can simply just set them up on your new TSB account. You'll need to contact the companies concerned to notify them of your new current account details and ask them to set up a new direct debit on your new account.

I think you were confusing the standing order thing with the co-op switch offer, that mentioned DD or standing order set up. The TSB switch offer is just DD x2
  • Switch completed today, A lot smoother than Barclays was
  • Card arrived today so put the 20 transaction on it.
Just have to wait to see if TCB match the Quidco £30
I received my card today but still awaiting the pin & 8 digit online activation code to log into online banking...

What did you use the 20 transactions on? I'm hoping to use all on 20 x Amazon £1 top ups...will that be allowed?

Finally, how can you try to get TCB to match Quidco cashback?
Haven't got my pin or code yet, but just transferred money into account and used it to buy 20 £1 Amazon top ups
https://www.topcashback.co.uk/account/enquiries/highestcashbackguarantees/submit/  (you need to be logged into your account)
    and use URL https://www.quidco.com/tsb-spend-save-current-account/

To confirm TCB has matched (and beaten) Quidco. Cashback now shows as £31.82

I've just opened this account for the switch reward and ongoing £10 debit card spent x 6 months reward, perfect.👍
I checked my PDF copy of the switch details (sent via email) and noticed an error. Now whether it's me with fat fingers on the phone key pad (highly likely) my switch date completion said 29/2/24 and not what I supposedly typed in 2/2/24.
So the switch needs to be completed with 21 days of applying (see T&C's) so in a panic I rang them this morning.
Couldn't have been more helpful, I got through immediately and was transfered to the switching team, again couldn't be any more helpful. So within around 10 mins my switch date has been changed, great. So far then this seems to be going ok, waiting for my activation code and card/pin via post now.
