i had a nice cardigan from a department store, it was very nice but two sizes too big. i would have happily exchanged it for a more suitable size but they didn't have any - i looked for another jumper but didnt find one i liked in the correct size so i exchanged it for two large stainless steel cassarole dishes for when i batch cook for the freezer. they were half price and will come in very usefull. i feel a bit bad as i have never taken a pressie back before - but they had nothing to exchange it for and i would never wear the cardigan as it was supposed to be fitted, so it would have just hung in my wardrobe not worn.

  • Nice to see so many OS presents.

Most of mine were consumable food but I did get a book - The Illustrated Herbal Encyclopedia. (link takes you to Amazon).

I've really got to get my garden sorted out now!

I got the mrs beetons set of eight books :) Can't wait to read through those!
I also got the apples for jam cookbook which I have been [strike]lusting after[/strike] wanting for ages :)

However to be perfectly honest, I got loads of stuff and most of it was definitely not OS.

DD has a more OS christmas than me... Santa brought her a baking set (deluxe from lakeland), an apron, and two kiddie baking sets from tesco.. :T :T

  • I got a Dualit stainless steel jug kettle
    Dualit chrome hand blender
    Dust buster
    A allotment book
    2 cook books
1001 house hold miracles book full of fab OS tips
  • I got the Eating for Victory book, and Cranford by Elizabeth Gaskell (an extra pressie that sis had bought for Mum, but Mum already had, thank you!), a Housekeeper box, some flower patterned garden tools and a craft kit.
I didn't get the breadmaker I asked Pa for, but he got me a DAB radio, so less crackly listening to Radio Four, and that's Old Style isn't it?

For a number of presents I gave hand-knitted 100% cotton dishcloths, and was very pleased with myself.

Somebody I know had her husband die of a heart attack in front of her so waking up on Christmas morning and having mine, alive and well in the bed beside me, was the best (and only) Christmas present I needed.

I must be the only 22 yr old in the world who would get really excited at getting them type of things for xmas! :rotfl:

Nope - I'm 23 and got extremely excited by my new microplane grater :j

Maybe we should have a club

  • Really pleased with my OS presents this year. DH and I have bought ourselves a day on a pig-rearing course. I also got a book on pig keeping, and a beginners guide to keeping sheep ;)

I was lucky enough to get a 6.5l slow cooker for christmas from my Mum.

Mr Frugal bought me a wind up torch with mobile phone charging facility on it too :j

I was really pleased with those :)

I would quite like a wind up radio next ;)

Yea, and I would've too, if I'd gotten one

I actually got most of my OS ones last year and I am trying to tell myself that instead of encouraging my friends and family to buy me stuff that I probably wouldn't use (i.e. more kitchen gadgets as I don't really have space), I am encouraging they themselves to be frugal. It sounds ok in my mind :D They all bought me stuff that I use and love (ghost deep night is delicious!). So I guess in a round-a-bout way that is OS 'cos I don't need to buy the products myself. As I say, it sounded ok in my head :D
