Old age isn't bad when you consider the alternative.

Also got a few books I've had my eye on
When all hell breaks loose by Cody Lundin

Can I come round yours "if the s...... hits the fan"? lol

Just checked out that book on Amazon. Guess "if the s.... hits the fan" books are a whole new genre these days. But made a note to borrow it for a read.

Still keeping fingers crossed that it wont - hit the fan that is! The mere thought of the 55F temperature advocated as the one we "should" have on one website I read recently for instance (WHAT! - 13C??????). Gawd - one of my New Years resolutions is to try not to turn the house thermostat to more than 22C!
  • Not too much os this year but my birthdays in march so will start jotting things down from now that I want - already have wind up torch on my list.

I did get - The Good Granny cookbook
    Some tins of posh coffee.

I got the Eating for victory book, a slowcooker, and one them JML V-slicer things.. not strictly oldstyle but i wanted one for over a year now as im rubbish at slicing veggies especially equally and thought it looked a great little gadget for speed and will minimize leftovers of veggies etc! :D

I didn't get many specifically OS ones this year but my SIL bought us the 1001 Ways You Can Save the Planet which promises eco and money saving ideas so shall settle down and read that once the madness of the festive season is over. What my sister and I both did was buy a lot of gifts from the charity shop [partly because of financial restrictions and also we're heavily into recycling]. I've now done this for the past 2 years and the first year it took me right out of my comfort zone but OH had been made redundant and I was still getting a feel for how far the money would comfortably stretch. I only pick and choose who I do this for and I'm very careful to choose very good condition gifts.
Anyway as a result OH received a new jumper from sis and we received a jigsaw puzzle jointly. I gave her daughter an unopened rainy day art kit and I'd picked out a couple of sets of beads for my Mum [one has the most gorgeous blue glass beads]. My Mum has just started to make her own jewellery so I did explain to her their origin and that the intention was that she broke them up for new projects. Sadly my masterplan backfired as she took one look at them, announced that they were lovely and that she's prefer to wear them:confused: Ah well best laid plans of mice and men.
I loved all my presents and although we don't spend a lot everyone had put a tremendous amount of thought into them:j
