Builders are indeed unsettling. We had some in for several months and everyone's feathers were extremely ruffled by the end. It'll take a long time to get over that! Glad you got a fluffy cuddle

Everytime I catch up with your diary I am astonished at how much you are doing. I might join you on the reverse planning, I've been doing well but there are still items to be used up.
(BTW on the milk I buy it, then just freeze it in freezer tubs and then decant into one of those glass bottles with rubber stoppers which I found somewhere really cheaply. Everyone comments on how stylish my milk bottle is LOL really it was just a cheap solution for milk for one!Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!8 -
I have found milk powder quite useful instead when milk goes off faster than I can use it.5

The boys do use up the milk, it was me absent mindedly buying too much and then not realising it had gone over.I did the rest of the store cupboard tidy today, another pile ready for rehoming and a list of things we will eat. Made the rice and cauli biriani with extra peas and chickpeas. V nice. I have some cauliflower left, some tired potatoes and half a curry paste pot. Probably should process and freeze tomorrow. Might make the cabbage and chorizo soup as well.My mortgage free diary: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6498069/whoops-here-comes-the-cheese

Used up puff pastry and sausages from freezer, but added half a chorizo to the freezer as no chicken cubes for soup.My mortgage free diary: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6498069/whoops-here-comes-the-cheese

A peaceful day here, although I did nip out to put petrol into the little manual car which was running on fumes. Haven't done any driving practice with them since it all happened. I should have poked one of them to go with me for the practice but I can do without the extra stress.
Tidied a fair bit of the patio ahead of the next bit of outside work. Colder than it looked. A bit more to do tomorrow.
Woodburners on now, with three or four cats playing cat chess over the favoured sleeping spots and boxes. The part for the boiler is being elusive so we are still rather cold. Mrs Brady would have been outraged.
Food wise I sorted the fridge. Prepped, blanched and froze cauliflower, potato wedges and parsnips. Made some lovely carrot and parsnip mash - a small tub of that left. I was doing well until I accidentally ate several of the F4rrero R0cher that I bought as a present for DS ( £5 in MrM for the big tray). He has kindly taken them away now. No bread and no alcohol though so not all bad.

Sorry about the young DS fail on removing chocolate. I have a much older one who knows better than to leave some items within my reach & I am not counting just chocolate, but i t took many years of training.

Reverse planning for meals sounds like a good idea and something i need to try.
You're doing so well coping with everything. It will take time to adjust and if that means some food gets thrown away then so be it. Hopefully it will start to come more naturally to you once life has calmed down a bit and you can focus more on it.*Dad loan - £5300 - £7200
