So sorry to read about B. Glad you are feeling a little better. Our boys are only 4, but the idea we will have to make these decisions in the future (hopefully far future) worries me. They have managed to win our hearts over.Debt free Feb 2021 🎉2

Yes, pets become part of the family, don’t they? Take care.1

B will always be in your heart 🫶🏻 I feel for your Dd too. It must have been a stressful time when B was so poorly. That is behind you now and you can remember the happy memories…..even though she’ll be greatly missed. You sound as if you’ve been very busy. I have been potting some plants I bought at weekend. I love doing this but atm I’m wonder if my garden will ever be straight again. I seem to have pots everywhere 😳 and loads of old compost I’m not sure what to do with. I don’t have anywhere to put it. I’ve done a mix of old and new compost in the pots as I wasn’t impressed with last years compost offerings at all.January spends - £587.581

However, there's this thread... or this from the RHS. I've never thrown it out, just mixed it with the compost heap - but beware of any roots or seeds in there, if you've had any plants that you don't want to see again, or the sorts of disease that come back to blight your greenery. Apparently domestic compost heaps don't reach high enough temperatures to kill off undesirables.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

Thanks Cherryfudge. I had thought of composting it but unfortunately I don’t have any space for a compost heap. I used to put it under my hedges but we had them taken out and fences erected a couple of years ago. I might ask ds if he wants to add it to his compost bins…fill the compost bags and take it to him. I can’t even scatter it around the garden anymore as dh has a garden railway and everywhere is covered in weed membrane and stone chippings.January spends - £587.583

Hi everyone sorry I’ve been awol again but I just haven’t felt like posting anything. I’ve not felt the best over the last couple of weeks mentally and physically 😟
I’ve been keeping myself busy mainly in the garden because we had some good weather. I’ve tidied up the front garden and since it’s been raining I’ve dug it over so I can actually plant something. I bought three Hebes to put out there which look nice but I need something a bit taller as well. The soil is heavy clay so that’s why I’ve dug it over now while it’s wet. I’ve done lots of work in the back garden too so that’s looking better.I did have a day out at the Devon County Show but it was very wet 😟 I had to buy an umbrella or I would have got soaked. I watched a couple of horse demonstrations which were good and I didn’t buy anything apart from the umbrella, a couple of hot donuts and a coffee.Work has been ok and I’ve had a couple of weeks with lots of days off in a row so I’ve been able to get stuff done .
My poor DD2 is upset today though because the cat she was fostering has gone to his new home and as he has been with her for 6 months she had become quite attached to him, he is such a lovely cat. The RSPCA would only let her foster him though because they won’t let you have a cat if you don’t have an outside space. He’s gone to live with an older lady who has a house and garden but DD was worried because although he is 12 he still likes to play and he also liked to sleep on her bed and she is worried that this lady won’t allow him to do that, she sounded nice on the phone so hopefully he will be happy there but he will wonder what’s going on 😟
Tomorrow I’m going to visit Mum and Dad then into town for shopping. I don’t need much but I do need a new yard brush so hopefully they will have a decent one in Wilkos. I bought a squirrel feeder today online because I felt guilty that the squirrels can’t get in my new squirrel proof bird feeder 🙄 I also planted up a hanging basket today but I’m not happy with the liner I bought so I think I’m going to have to replant it.Original Debt Owed Jan 18 = £17,630 Paid To Date = £6,510 Owed = £11,1204 -
It's good to hear from you OBL. What a shame for your daughter, I would find it hard to have an animal for months then have to let it go, too. I expect the cat will soon train his new lady to leave the door open so he can get on the bed, though.
I love that you bought a squirrel feeder - what was that about animals training us?We rarely get squirrels so the birds here only compete with each other.
And thanks for the mention of the hanging basket. I haven't done mine yet and I really need to make a start. The begonia tubers were accidentally left out while we were away and are now under water, so I need to check those first, then decide on what else to add.
Enjoy watching the squirrels!

Hi OBL,
Just catching up with diaries. I am so sorry to read about B. I lost my lurcher last year… they are a part of our families. Our lurcher is buried under the hazel trees at the allotment where he loved to race up and down. On many an occasion DS3 will ask to stop there on the way home from school so that he can chat to him.
