foxgloves said:Wow, OBL! You achieved loads there. I like an uncluttered bedroom too. It just feels more peaceful somehow. I'm also hoping for reasonable weather tomorrow for outdoor tasks. Pouring with rain here & similar showers forecast on & off all day. Let's hope our respective corners of the country have drier weather tomorrow, then we can both crack on with what we want to do.

We often cycle along the trail there and stop at the cafe on our way back.Sadly it looks grey here so don’t think the weather is going to be great here today. You have been busy. Glad the finances feel more controllable 👍
I’m feeling quite relaxed about my finances at the moment so hopefully that will last 😀

Wow what a change in the weather, I woke up to black skies and driving rain at 8.30. Since then the sun has come out but it’s very very windy and cold and we keep getting showers.I’ve been out and taken three big bags to the charity shop. There’s two more bags of books but they were too heavy so I will take them another day. After the charity shop I went food shoppng and spent a whopping £78 😳😳I think that will last me a couple of weeks apart from bread and milk though and I did buy a box of stretchy silicone lids and finally a loo brush 😀 i bought the ingredients to make the hummus on toast that I had on Saturday and it tasted lovely. They topped theirs with sesame seeds but I bought a seed and nut salad topper which is really nice.I’m off to do some painting in a minute as it’s too wild to do stuff in the garden today 😟Original Debt Owed Jan 18 = £17,630 Paid To Date = £6,510 Owed = £11,1202

The hummus sounds delicious, I love hummus. I got absolutely soaked to the skin in that wind and rain this morning walking to work. It was horrendous.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)1

I agree, the sun being out always motivates me too!"Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee1

I’ve had a busy couple of days with the heating guys here doing my radiators. They took a day and a half but are all finished now and they look so much better and they also feel more efficient. The living room is warmer now I’m back to having two radiators in there, B is loving having a radiator by her bed 😀.While the heating guys were here I went outside and worked out there so on the first day I cut the grass in the front garden and then swept all the left over leaves off the path and steps. I also tidied the patio in the back garden which was silly really because I had more messy work to do but anyway it gave me something to do while they were here. On the second day I went out the back and tackled my very leggy and non flowering escallonia hedge. It’s the wrong time to chop it down but it looked such a mess and I noticed it was sprouting from the bottom so I’ve cut it down from around 6ft tall to around a foot in the hope it will rejuvenate it for next year, the bees love it but it stopped flowering last year so it had to be sorted. If it doesn’t grow back I have plans for that area so it won’t be a disaster.I also tackled the area that used to be a rockery but had two overgrown evergreen non flowering shrubs and a dead fir tree. The fir tree had been chopped down and the shrubs have been cut back. I’m now planning on buying some flowering shrubs to go in there but can’t decide what to go for . I want evergreen flowering and they have to be sturdy to withstand the chicken digging around.Today I met my friend for coffee which was nice as we haven’t seen each other for a couple of weeks then I came home and did some more in the back garden. I had piled all the bits I cut down yesterday on the area that used to be a lawn so I moved all that to the top of the garden where I have my compost bin. I’m just going to tidy the lawn area as even though I would love to use it for something the chicken will just wreck it so there’s no point. So long as it looks tidy that will do me until I can claim it back. I am toying with the idea of lifting the slabs that are up there and using them to make a nice flat patio because it’s crazy paving at the moment and trying to find a level bit to put my table on is proving tricky. I could lift some of the crazy paving and lay the slabs out with gravel inbetween. I had the idea to plant creeping thyme in the gaps or encourage moss but the chicken will just scrape it out. If I did gravel I would set it in place.
I had a lovely surprise on Tuesday when I got a letter to say my pension has gone up and that meant I was due some more lump sum and £875.00 would be paid into my account. I checked my bank account and it was already in there so I’ve transferred that into my lump sum savings. That will come in handy to go towards the radiators and it means I can now possibly afford some other jobs I was unsure about.
Tomorrow I am working so won’t be getting anything done at home unless I feel energetic when I get home 😀
Im out for lunch for a friends 60 th birthday on Saturday but might be able to do some bits when I get back. DD1 needs me to go over to help her trim her cats claws which will be a two person job 😳 but I’ve asked for Sunday as AL so if I get it I will go over there on Sunday, if I don’t get AL I’m going on Saturday after my meal so won’t get anything done at home.I’ve been put on a late on Sunday which I was ok with but I hadn’t thought about B getting upset and barking until 9 pm when I get home, she has started barking when I’m out which isn’t so bd during the day because both neighbours are out all day but the evening is different and I’m conscious of the fact that they have children going to bed ready for school on Monday so if I could get the day off it would be a big help.
All this has been achieved courtesy of Paracetamol, Ibuprofen and Codeine 😂Original Debt Owed Jan 18 = £17,630 Paid To Date = £6,510 Owed = £11,1205 -
Paracetamol, Ibuprofen and Codeine - those wonderful helpers! They've clearly helped you do a huge amount.
How exciting about the unexpected windfall. I suggest you put a little of it towards this - though I don't know if it's chicken-proof. I have some by the front gate as it smells so lovely at a time of year when there's little other colour or scent in the garden.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)
