I can recommend hebes as being evergreen & easy to look after. There are lots of different varieties, I have several of the same kind in my garden but as I grew them from cuttings, I have no idea which they are. They don't grow tall - I keep mine about 2 foot high by giving them a chop once they've flowered. Some have small insignificant flowers, but the ones I have have long narrow deep purple flowers. I took the cuttings about 4 years ago, kept them in a small pot till established & then planted them in the garden. They're frost hardy too. I think they'd tolerate a chicken scratching around them!

Oh I love that, I will investigate 😀Cherryfudge said:Paracetamol, Ibuprofen and Codeine - those wonderful helpers! They've clearly helped you do a huge amount.
How exciting about the unexpected windfall. I suggest you put a little of it towards this - though I don't know if it's chicken-proof. I have some by the front gate as it smells so lovely at a time of year when there's little other colour or scent in the garden.

I love Hebes they are one of my favourites. My mum gave me a book about them so I’m going to have a look at that to research some varieties. I reckon they would be chicken proof 😀kayannie said:I can recommend hebes as being evergreen & easy to look after. I was up late last night finishing my book so was tired all day today but it was very good so worth it 😀
Work was ok today with no major stress which is always good. I walked into town when I left because it was sunny and I spend my day in a room with no windows so needed some real daylight.I’m off to bed in a bit then tomorrow I’m out for lunch and then possibly DD2s to help with the cat. I still don’t know if I can have Sunday off. I have to phone tomorrow. It’s not looking likely 😟there’s nothing I can do about it though.Today when I got home B had wet her bed so I’ve had to wash all that and her which she doesn’t like and I could have done without to be honest. I don’t know how much longer this can go on now and I will be making some tough decisions very soon I think 😟Original Debt Owed Jan 18 = £17,630 Paid To Date = £6,736 Owed = £10,8942
