So I decided last night I wouldn’t go for my vaccine today in case it made me ill and i couldn’t got to mums so I rearranged it for tomorrow afternoon. I’m going to the chemist that I walk past after I’ve been to mums which is actually more convenient.I went into town today and found some lovely cushion covers that I’ve been looking for for weeks and the good news is they were reduced from £20 each £8 each so were even cheaper than the ones I ordered but don’t like. H&M have opened a home department here so I got them from there. They are a lovely linen look material and really soft. I also finished my present shopping today 🍾🥳🍾 I’m taking mums to her tomorrow in case I don’t see her then I will wrap the others on Wednesday and that’s me done.I just have the desserts to buy which I was going to do today but I had too much to carry so I will try and do that on my way home tomorrow, then last minute veg is lol I have left to get.
My boss phoned me this morning but I missed the call so I tried to call her back but couldn’t get hold of her, I will try again tomorrow morning.
I have been chilling out watching some YouTube this evening. There is a new Strike series started today but I haven’t watched all the others so I’m not sure if I will watch it, I was going to see if they were on catch up and have a binge watch 😂I’m also interested in watching Vera after reading me last book but I’m not sure if they will still be on catch up either, I must have a look
Im now just starting to read A Year Of Magical Thinking by Joan Didion so I’m looking forward to getting stuck into that,it’s not very thick so won’t take me longOriginal Debt Owed Jan 18 = £17,630 Paid To Date = £6,510 Owed = £11,1203 -
Oh dear this morning did not go to plan 😀 I got up nice and early and left the house in good time and the bus even turned up 🍾🥳🍾I was congratulating myself on getting out of the house at roughly the time I had meant to when I realised I had left my phone and my glasses on the coffee table. The bus was too far away from the house to just get off so I decided I would be ok to leave them at home but I then also realised I had left mums Christmas presents at home as well by which time the bus was right at the bottom of the two big hills I have too walk up to get to my house. The decision to get back off the bus was made easier by a very smelly man getting on ( honestly why don’t people wash themselves, there’s no excuse ) so off I got to walk back up the hill to collect the things I had left behind. The main reason to go to mums today was to give her her presents in case I don’t see her next week so I’m glad I went back for them. Luckily the rest of the buses turned up on time too so I got to mums at the time I had wanted to.
We had a nice catch up and she was telling me she had been looking for things to watch on TV so I suggested when I go up there I can take her a TV magazine as she finds that easier to use than the guide on the telly. I usually take her a magazine like Yours or People’s Friend because she does like to read but finds books too heavy now and I think hard to concentrate on. The People’s Friend I bought her last time was a special one that was a collection of stories so easier to read.I then walked back into town to get my vaccines done but that didn’t go to plan either. I got there and told them I had booked an appointment then they told me they had no flu jabs left ( well don’t offer appointments then for both 🙄 ) so I said I would just have the covid one and I sat there and sat there and sat there while all the drug addicts came and got their daily methadone ,twenty minutes later I got up and left so no vaccine for me today. Honestly inbetween dealing with the addicts there were about four people not doing much at all and they could see me sitting there, I haven’t got time for that 😡
I also spoke to my boss this morning and worked out my return to work so I’m going back on Christmas Eve for four hours to start with and I’m going to do that for a couple of weeks to get back into the swing of things. I’m just hoping my shoulder sorts itself out before then because it was quite painful today, it hurts more when my arm is hanging down so today when it got bad I sat with my right had on my left shoulder to stop it hurting, I use my scarf as a makeshift sling last week which helped a lot, I’ve also been putting tight balm on it which also helps. I just won’t be able to lift or move anything heavy when I initially go back.I’m not sure what I’m doing tomorrow. DD2 called in sick today and I think she has got a chest infection so I’ve said if she is still off tomorrow I will pop over with supplies. If she goes back to work I will stay at home and do housey things, I can also wrap the last of my presents.Original Debt Owed Jan 18 = £17,630 Paid To Date = £6,510 Owed = £11,1205 -
It sounds like a real palaver today, but it's nice you and your Mum had time together. I remember getting People's Friend for my Mum sometimes and I think the annuals sometimes turn up in hospital bookshops. Or of course, in High Street shops and online.

Forgot to say earlier but I’m loving my Nationwide banking app. I’m very new to the world of online banking so hadn’t used the app but I decided to give it a go and it’s transformed my life 😀 I love being able to check my balance really quickly and the feature that lets you save spare change is so much fun. I’ve still got quite a lot of my Christmas budget left and I think it’s because I keep paying spare money back into it.
I’ve moved those savings to my current account today so I can finish my food shopping then whatever’s left will go to bills and I can save more of my wages when they come in. My pension was paid yesterday and my system of paying it into savings then moving some of it back for bills each month is working really well. My wages will be paid alarmingly early this month (20th ) so I’m going to put them in my savings until the 27th when I should be being paid, no accidental spending is happening this month.I was mulling over a no spend January but there are things I’m planning on buying which could wait until February but I might get them cheaper in the January sales so I think I’m going to aim for NSDs instead. I’ve had loads while I’ve been off sick but non of them were recorded so I must get better at documenting them.Original Debt Owed Jan 18 = £17,630 Paid To Date = £6,510 Owed = £11,1204 -

My granny used to read People's Friend in the 70s. Didn't realise it was still going. Don't know the last time I bought a magazine, many years ago, that's for sure.Making the debt go down and savings go up
