Ooh yes coffee and walnut here too please, but with no wheat or potato flour!
YL yes it is a nuisance when building regs change; I know it's for our own good if health & safety - but if we hadn't needed to address re-pointing of fireplace bricks, we would happily have carried on using the gas stove occasionally and been none the wiser. Having found several electric 'inserts' which would possibly fit in our existing cast iron one, I dropped into the stove place where we bought ours (who, according to their web site are "privately owned and operated with personal service being one of our main objectives"). 2 members of staff said they did not themselves sell, or know of anyone who sold, electric inserts. I informed them that there were a lot of companies on the internet - they did not look interested. As I walked out, I said that it might be in their interest to find out, what with the price of gas and the environment. No comment. I've just looked at their web site again and they do actually sell and fit electric stoves - so I'm sure one of their engineers would have been able to help. However with that attitude I'm not that interested in them now.
A rather bitty but fairly productive day, after a much better night's sleep.
- more done on the report
- knitting almost done and it looks as if there will be just enough wool for my friend's gloves. She isn't swimming tomorrow so I haven't GOT to finish them tonight - although with the weather forecast for the next week, it might be nice.
- cut up the 2nd half of the monster squash and it has been in the slow cooker with various spices and other veg to make soup. I turned it off about half an hour ago so hopefully it will have cooled down enough to blend it later.
- went to Body Step.
- dropped into stove shop as discussed.
- neighbour witnessed signature on Mr N's LPA so we can post them tomorrow.
- used up last flowers and foliage which had been lurking in a jug since Christmas.
- did a reasonable amount of washing up and tidying in kitchen, including finding more bits of glass (Mr N had a bad day with cold hands yesterday and dropped a glass) and unblocking a slow sink.
- and me time was starting a new book and doing a bit more of the jigsaw.Remember...a layer of dust protects the wood beneath it.10 -
After tea, washed up and then fiddle-faddled around until it was time to make supper. I was having a lentil burger with a few fries and peas. As I was moving the lentil burger between the pan and the plate I somehow dropped it on the kitchen floor.
As the fries were ready I had to just have what was to hand that didn't need cooking, which was some Quorn 'ham'. Not really what I wanted but any port.....
Washed up, fiddle-faddled around again, did the night time eye routine and am now thinking about bed. A so far hasn't commented on the very strong perfumed smell in the bathroom, which amazes me. I'm also amazed that one little bar of soap can give off such a strong pong!Night all.8 -
I'm just looking into the group and catching up whilst having a cuppa as I'm just in from work. Unfortunately, I have not done very much flying the past 3 days as I have been so busy with paid stuff. I have done the daily cleaning of the rooms, decluttered some unwanted toys via the free group, and went with DH to his hospital appointment. I will be back in the morning after some sleep to post my list for tomorrow as I am off for the next 2 days.8

Morning all,
Oooh a SC full English Valli?! Why have I never thought of this?! Tell me more…
Much better sleep here 😊😊 I have let the dogs out, stoked the fire which is now roaring again, fed the dogs and brought a cuppa back to bed. The laundry dried beautifully in front of the fire last night so I’ve brought that upstairs and will put it away soon.
I am not sure what we will do today. The kids want to go to the park but DDs chest is still very weak. She already has a stack of homework to do as well… don’t get me started on that. She’s Year 7 FGS!New to me freezer arriving this afternoon so time will be spent cleaning that out and filling it with pork. I do need petrol at some point too, but that can probably wait until Monday.Take care all xx9 -
Morning all,
Valli, you can’t leave us hanging like that!
Worst night sleep for a week or so last night. I use the word “sleep” in jest. Once I had pinged awake, work stuff kept going round in my head (more changes, my 3rd job title in as many months, my second boss which is actually the original one back again. Don’t ask), plus the fact that I have to post a parcel for DD and am stressing about finding a drop off point for it in an unfamiliar town. I could kill my anxiety sometimes, if it were possible.
Today we are off to visit DSiL and BiL for a very late Christmas, a walk and dinner. Just realised that I have forgotten to get her any flowers or a plant type thingy 🙇♀️. Another feature of living miles from a shop is that all these things have to planned and it’s tough luck when you forget. The flying that has been on the back burner for the latter part of this week is scheduled for tomorrow. I might get the houseplants watered here before we have to leave. Luckily there is time for a second cuppa, if anyone cares to join me.
Have a lovely day all x7 -
well my breakfast smells brilliant! So you put cups/mugs/ramekins with ingredients in each so i have tomatoes, beaten eggs and sliced mushrooms in ramekins/mugs then rashers of bacon and sausage stood up at the sides and leave it on low overnight. Loads of recipes/instructions on google.
Next i might try porridge in my little SC
Very frosty here but the sky is blue so i will be pegging washing out later. DW and WM x 1
I was pondering inviting family for a roast tomorrow but my friends have suggested I have a relaxing weekend, DD has gone skiing in France, she flew to Geneva at sparrowfart.
Was going to make marmalade but Morrisons had no oranges. Have 4 sticks/bunches of celery so they will be souped later.Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily DickinsonJanice 1964-2016

Good morning my lovelies xx
Joining Fayolle for that second brew 🫖 And I watered my plants this morning- must be the day for it. My orchid is busy flowering again. The red lily plant is also blooming profusely. The white lily plant is just leaves and I think needs separating into two and repotting. But it's alive. I'm not doing too badly considering plants usually look at me and die.
I'm up, made my bed, taken my meds, read a few chapters, and supped my first brew. Second brew and breakfast next. Then I really must do something. I keep writing a To Do List and then ignoring it. Naughty Flylady.
Have a good day.
