  • @Cheery_Daff I remember reading your N
ovember I was in awe! I love my bank and couldn't face the bank switching/setting up somewhere else etc but it did amaze me!

£10 a day goal is ambitious but with your things due realistic I think? I did well on vinted too after a long hiatus, I was surprised. I think it's changed and picked up!

@bloomfelt welcome! That's a really good start for your challenge goal!
My topcashback bonus and cashback paid out £32.89 so I am now on £128.08/£155  which I'm very happy about!
@Bazzalona13295 so sorry about prolific. I've been on the waiting list a Looong time.  I shouldn't hold my breath as even my online idenity check for DBS has failed because I don't look like my very old passport photo "(everyone thinks I do but not the systems, oh no).  So I suspect the same might happen to me. How maddening. Is there no way off appealing/proving it's you? Madness really, since passports can be 10 years old and a lot changes!

I've tried, I thought I succeeded as they put me on the waiting list for a while but then I had an e-mail saying no I'd been refused and it was irreversible.

Strange thing was that although there have been times where I've looked nothing like my passport pics (my last 2 have been at my lightest/heaviest) I didn't look unlike it on this occasion.

Maybe it was for the best, my attention span is getting worse so longer surveys might not be ideal!
  • Sorry for the radio silence everyone. The extra £10 a day has become even more important for me now, I was made redundant on Tuesday. I have been out and about all week picking up any mystery shops I can and I will add them when I actually get paid for them. however for today I just have £7.88 to add from Prolific. That takes my total to £83.96.

Good luck to everyone who has joined the challenge, theres some good figures there!!
Total debt when my journey began in December 2022- £66,133.42
    Current debt May 2024- £40,064.57
    Repaid 39.42%

Sorry to hear about your redundancy @o@outoftheviciouscircle Hope you find a new job soon, and that in the meantime, other things continue to be productive for you xx

We checked Mr Cheery's bank yesterday and the switching incentive had come through, so that's another £175 for the pot. Mentally counted this as happening at the same time as mine in December (because I didn't realise it hadn't!) but I didn't count it in December figures, so it's a nice surprise.

So that means January total of £293/£310 - maybe I need to set a new target since it's so early in the month??
  • so sorry to hear about your job @outoftheviciouscircle, hope you can find something else soon.

I did actually make £5.11  yesterday, but forgot to declare it. Its a slow month for me so far. The bits I listed on FBMP just don't seem to be moving, even though I listed them very cheaply, and surveys seem to be taking their time to build up.

  • Oh @outoftheviciouscircle I'm so sorry. Do you at least have a reasonable redundancy payment?

Do you know about usertesting.com? Which is website testing.   It could be something extra to help you a little if you are on the computer in the day and see the notifications to take screener questions. Most sessions are 20 minutes unmoderated and $10.   It depends on your demographic and work/experience what ones you are accepted for, but there are sometimes $60 and $30 and even $90 live testing sessions available if you are quick and what they are looking for. They have many UK based companies looking for user testers for unmoderated tests ($10 and live tests, which are schedules with a facilitator and on zoom usually).
You have to take a short test session (after watching a training video) to be accepted but it's pretty straightforward if you follow the guidelines for looking at a website and completing the tasks asked and thinking aloud.
They have both microphone only and microphone/face recording. You can always see which a test is, so if you are in pjs in bed when you see one, you don't get surprised by a face recording!

@Cheery_Daff  yay on the bank switching appearing!  You might well get over the £310 yes! I exceeded my £5 a day target in December, but I didn't increase my goal even when I realised it might happen, but that was christmas in the way etc and I just took anything over my target as a win/bonus.

@Bazzalona13295  ah this might happen to me then. I've been on P/lific waitlist for so very long.  I don't remember doing my passport /photo at that point but if I did, then given the nonsense over my DBS remote ID checks refusing to accept I'm me on my passport and driving license  (it's either that or not known at this address-when I've lived here 9 years!)  I suspect p/lific will assume I don't look like me either.  I'm with you on the irony, as I've had a previous passport where I really didn't look fully like my photo anymore as I was pretty young having the passport photo and I did change - mostly my hair.  This one though, I just look like me!  I feel you on the attention span. It's why I prefer usertesting over surveys, it's more consistently interesting and much more varied once you get past the screeners (which are usually max 8 questions and that's considered long).  It's much more interesting and engaging, and I actually really like doing it.

Dec I don't think I declared as I was away, but I set target at £5 a day, and made £211.52 that cleared by the last day of Dec into my bank account.  So about £6.82 a day.

Todays progress another unexpectedly quick payout of cashback taking me to £130.32/£155 cleared.

So expected by the time user testing pays out and the everyday offers cashback from Lloyd's adds at the end of the month is now £154.75.   That 0.25p to go is annoying me.  It may be less that that by the time I convert from $ for the usertesting which pays in $ to paypal, then I convert to £. It depends on the exchange rate of the day. I go by the last amount that it was in £ when estimating, but it does vary a little.

But I'm happy as basically I need to get 1 more usertesting test at $10 before the 22nd (14 day payout) to make my goal. Which should be very doable.  I'm not going to spend too much time focusing on getting to £10 a day with what's left of the month as I absolutely need to concentrate on returning my business to viability and putting those hours in when I can. & the disaster zone of the house (is bad). I will continue making sure I'm maximising cashback though, and picking up usertesting when I can work on my computer with the window open to see new screeners etc.
Maybe in sorting disaster house out I will manage to list and sell some things on ebay or vinted.  I have forsaken facebook market place after a bad run last year with very demanding and !!!!!! people including over free/very low - think 50p listings, not sure I can be convinced to give it another try!  I'd rather take a walk to the post office or the inpost lockers.

  • Thank you everyone!! I'm not in panic mode yet as I do have another source of income.

@CoffeeSonata I signed up to usertesting but I had trouble setting it up. Something to do with configuring the mic etc. I thought I did everything right but it still wasn't going through. I'll try again over the weekend.

Today I have cashed out £11.55 from Prolific taking me to £95.51 so far.

  • @outoftheviciouscircle Are you on a mac or windows, and are you using chrome? @Makingabobor2 has had similar issues. I'm not sure what's wrong as I haven't had much bother on safari or chrome, and I set up my permissions so long ago.  Chrome is the recommended and preferred browser, often you will find on the desktop/laptop chrome only surveys. It's not always chrome causing issues if you are using it.  Usually it's somewhere deeper in settings on your computer. Good news is I think once you get the right permissions and it set up, it usually stays that way (it does for me.) I wish I could be more help to both of you, but I haven't encountered difficulty sharing mic/camera or screen sharing.
As far as I know you can also do it just through a mobile phone app and only take the mobile sessions to (but then you can't do live testing.) I'm not sure if you have to do the practise test on the computer though. I joined years ago when their app/mobile phone tests were still very new and it was mostly through a laptop/desktop so I'm not sure what's the case there.  You are doing well! I'm sorry I can't remember but are you aiming for £10 a day or £5?
I'm glad you have a second source of income which takes the edge of panic a little I guess. I'm still so sorry. I hope that you can have some relaxation and regrouping this weekend as you get your head around it all.

Prolif/c seems high-paying and good for surveys once you get accepted!

I just got accepted for Neilsen Receipt/shopping scanning. Waiting for activation email to download the app to start scanning and collecting the data.  Unsure how helpful that will be.

    I had a payout from shop*um £1.50.

    So I'm now on £131.82/£155.
