I didn't realise how late it had gotten. I don't think any packing will occur today 😂
DD have had a lovely afternoon together and we went over to the field with the dog once the combines had stopped and went up the paths the other side of some horse fields to collect blackberries. I've got cut up legs, wore the wrong skirt and got kidnapped by the bush (skirt got totally trapped by thorns) and DD stayed on the path safely probably rolling her eyes at me 😂 the best ones are always about 4 ft in from the edge though!
I've got them soaking and I've got the last of the pastry from the freezer. I'll make something with it for pudding and use up the last of the ice cream. I'm thinking of doing naan pizza and chips for dinner to use up the last of the chips and also some of the cheese 🍕 as otherwise we will be left with loads in the fridge.
I will have new potatoes (can you believe I still have some left!) with DP as there isn't many chips left, hopefully enough for both kids though.
Yoghurts are going down nicely as I gave DS permission to eat more than one a day 😆. And I am well aware as I watch this food dwindle that I'm going to have to do a big expensive shop when I move. However a Mr L, Mr Al, Mr T, Mr W and a small Mr A & co-op are within one mile of the new home as well as home bargains and a pound land ...so I can shop around 😁.MORTGAGE BALANCE when we moved Aug 2024, £120,000. I carried on spending 💰
DS needed a padlock but I actually had some cash floating about in my purse I found whilst packing so that won't come from the budget I'm working with.
Then DD told me she needed snacks for camp. Of course I had to get them both some or there would have been arguments. Also picked up a jar of coffee whilst in the shops so £16.28 out of my budget - wasn't too bad as I couldn't be bothered with the big shop I went to the corner one.
DP stopped at the computer shop in town to grab a new power lead, I paid out of more change in my purse, only a few quid. And the guy asked if DP could help him with something as he knew DP was expertise was in something was trying to fix.
Basically long story short we spent £3 there but he gave £40 back to DP for some parts DP had at home spare and some time to show him how to do something 😃 so yay!
DP handed the money to me for the budget so I am actually slightly up on the budget now I hope!
Yes- quick calculation and £98.80 is what we have now for day to day spends and groceries.
What I find the most frustrating with budgeting is the fact that I can plan to be good as gold and go without and be happy to eat what we have in and not deviate from my plan and hold off on non essential items... I can't however, plan for whatever my teenagers and DP want to do. And their continual requests ...and I could have said no but I know all their friends are bringing snacks, and I knew DD would be the only one without a black swimsuit had I not bought one and DS would have been the only one not having a padlock to lock his stuff away. Etc etc. it's frustrating but it is showing me I need to either earn more money to have more flexibility for this sort of happenings which happens frequently it seems or find money in the budget to draw upon. Or say no. But I do say no to the stuff I know they're being spoiled on and only usually say yes to the stuff I know all their peers will have so I'm not sure what to do.
Another little bit of good news though, the AC are putting on transport for camp! So I only need to drop them five minutes from home. They're so disorganised I was a little annoyed at first as I'd gone out of my way to organise car shares but after getting over that 😆 I am happy. I get time back (a whole afternoon really) and no petrol money spent.
I am going to bed now with a book. I feel like my life never stops. I don't know how I'd actually hold a full time job down as well as run the house efficiently, look after the kids and cook, taxi and all the rest (I do actually I did it years ago as single mum to little ones and it has been put in a box in the back of mind never to be opened again it was so stressful). I'm shattered getting too old for all this non stop stuff. 😂

Maybe once you move you could pick up a wee job for a few hours ?
