Buying a little piece of Middle England; Manifesting my way to mortgage free.

Thanks Beanie. I let DP cook the dinner last night. I felt too ill to do it and honestly would have gone without. I felt awful as he'd been at work all day and had done a lot of driving only to come home and cook and then take me out
I got given a load more boxes last night, really good strong ones that the lady giving them away had paid for. The postcode was not far off our one and she had said it was the same town as us.........well, 30 mins later after the sat nav took us to a field about 10 miles away we were utterly lost, the sun was going down and the signal was awful to try and get the lady on messenger to respond. We did eventually find her but what should have been an 18 minute journey turned into almost 40 mins of finding her
then we headed home only to be met with ROAD CLOSED signs ugh. We took a diversion and guess what we ended up back where we started
and then read the sign properly and it didn't close until 10pm and it was only around 8:45 at this point. What a palava that was. I kind of wish I hadn't bothered. My poor head and tummy were threatening me the whole way there and back too on bumpy country roads.
This morning my head feels a little clearer, my tummy a little less cramped and my energy has got up and left, it's okay though as DP & I are ahead (at the moment) of the packing. So I will allow myself a rest day, I think it's well deserved and I know if I don't rest now I will get worse and I will need my energy for next week and beyond. I think this has all been brought on by heat and also a complete adrenaline crash after all the stress I was feeling with the move. I am kinda glad it is happening now though rather than after we move which is what happened the last few moves
DD new swim suit should be here today. As should the first aid kit I had to buy for DS (DD had one from DofE last year) and a couple of small toothpastes I ordered in travel size. I was good and took the other travel sized toiletries out of the basket- spends were around £28 for all that. I have empty clear containers I found yesterday when packing my room and will fill and label those one for each child. It would have been more helpful if they were the same sex as both kids could have shared, but they are obviously separated at shower time at camp. I am not sure what sort of camp this is but DD has been told they have lockers, bedside tables and bedssounds to me more like glamping?!
DD has packed. DS doesn't care- his words. I will help him do it tomorrow I think as my energy won't take kindly to a battle of wills today.
Our seller has messaged saying, not to be a pain but I need to exchange THIS week.right after the solicitor said to us it may be next week now but obviously won't affect completion dates. He is taking his kids on holiday the week before moving. Ummm. Ugh. How was that for planning? I wonder if he is all packed up and ready to go then? Anyhow, we have had to email solicitors and ask if we can get the paperwork done asap now because of this so he can sign his contract before he goes....then it doesn't matter that he's not here if the exchange is delayed a little as he's already signed. If he can't do it he seems to think the completion date will have to move. I don't think it will as the last 2 moves we exchanged and completed on the same day so the worst comes to the worst that could happen.
House buying and selling is stressful.
Today I don't plan on doing much. I am not going to set myself targets or goals to achieve, I am allowing my sore body and head to dictate how much I do. I think I will pop to a shop though and grab some bananas and some other small food bits. I have taken the decision not to eat any more burgers or sausages. We had the burgers in buns last night and I literally had to force it down. I don't like them and my body hates too much rubbish food like that. SO today, I am having my GF pasta - I will grab some tinned toms. And I will have chickpeas, peppers, herbs and mushrooms in mine. I will do the kids and DP normal pasta (they have the wholemeal one) and the same sauce and give them the option of chopped up sausages in it too. DP & I have already said once the kids are gone we will bag up whatever is left in the freezer of the burgers and sausages and throw them. But for now as we are running low on money and moving it does make financial sense to just use them until the weekend. DD doesn't like the burgers either so we definitely won't be using them again.
Tomorrow I am going to do rice with veg & the veggie burgers we have in (the ones made from veg rather than fake meat).
Friday I will do tofu marinated in some yeast flakes & soy sauce. I will do that with pasta or rice- whatever we have left as both are running low.
Saturday I have some extra chilli left so we will do that for dinner with garlic bread from the freezer and also rice.
They are going Sunday after lunch so I will use the sausages and burgers as their lunches basically. That way I am eating the same as them, and I also know they aren't eating too much rubbish for dinners.
I am going to fast during the day to help this poorly feeling disappear quicker. My body heals quickly with only one meal a day. I have plenty of spare lbs to lose anyway so don't fear I won't disappear
So shopping today needs to be:
Mushrooms
peppers
rice or pasta (need to check amounts may need small bags of both- no bulk buys till we move now).
Bananas and apples
some buns for the kids and DP to have with their sausages/ burgers for lunch
Tinned tomatoes
Brocolli (to stir fry with the tofu)
I have onions, tofu, veg burgers, garlic bread, normal bread, one pepper, some pasta and rice in for this meal plan so I am going to try and stick to that shopping list. I am buying for meals for a few days but I may need to pop back to the shops for other things as and when we use them up.
I really want to empty that freezer of all the other little bits we will eat in meal plans. I will use up the ice cream for the kids puddings, with some chopped up fruit.
The fridge is half empty after I spent all that money the other day *insert rolley eyes*! But at least it is being eaten rather than wasted.
My account for daily spends and Groceries sits at £141.12 after buying the bits the kids needed for camp.
I have another few child benefit payments due in and that £11.40 for surveys. so nearly another £100 before the end of the month. I will keep trying on the surveys today too whilst resting, I may reach another payout before the end of the month. Prolif sits at £4.71 and payout is £6 and i've lots pending there so I should get that soon. I am determined to push this month's money for an extra week to get us starting this new house on a new budgeting calendar...so wish me luck

If he has signed the contract in anticipation of exchange then it could go ahead while he was on holiday - it is only if anything changes that he would need to sign a new one, and even then surely they can use docusign or something he could do remotely. I have never had to go near the solicitors in the days before exchange - I had always signed in advance.
Hope you stick to your planned rest day!My mortgage free diary: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6498069/whoops-here-comes-the-cheese

Sheesh 🤣 ....it will all come right and if we need to we will just have to do it all when he's back and exchange and complete the same day.
Our solicitors haven't got back to us yet after DP emailed an urgent email this morning to all people involved in our solicitors so we're hoping that means they're trying to pull it all together so he can go and sign this week and we can exchange next week without him.

I intend to come home and put on a nice record and spend some time cooking, my mindfulness for the day, and cleaning -also another way I like to be mindful - nothing strenuous just a small clean around the living areas and putting things back in homes - not that we have much out anywhere it's all boxed up 🤣 so should be quick.
It's much cooler here today thankfully and I am feeling better because of it. I think working so hard in the heat lifting and carrying all those boxes up and down stairs and to the garage has exhausted me. If I had a hat I'd take it off for all the removals people working in this heat all day every day!
I shall report back at some point with the daily spends and what's left in my monthly day to day spends budget!MORTGAGE BALANCE when we moved Aug 2024, £120,000. January 1st £118,267.06. Thanks, I am inspired by your grocery calculations, sometime I veer off and buy more and unncessarily different bits and pieces I think I will have a food spend spreadsheet and keep a track, I could see how I do in august and aim to beat it the next month, just thinking...or better yet come up with a budget that will be a challenge but would also mean I try and stop the unneccesary spends...I am going to start it...it could be quite frightening what I spend on food...being a big lass an all 🤣😊❤️🤩2

Also like beanie says look after yourself, it sounds like you are listening to your body, perhaps just stop altogether and have a drink and a sarnie on the sofa and watch the box! ❤️2

Well I've been shopping. £34.04
I got some extras:-
GF bread that was YS.
Buns YS.
Green salad pre made YS.
A melon
Some olives
I got some pre packaged stir fry veg as it worked out cheaper than organic broccoli.
I bought pasta and rice as both were really low.
And I got some premium brand fizzy drinks as they were on offer (£4 for 8 tins no nasties in them). Money really doesn't go far in the shops these days.
Then I had to transfer £40 to DP 😬
-£20 for some cash he got out for the kids camp spends
£10 for a birthday collection at work.
£10 for the card he bought for his DS and postage..
🤣😬.so much for sticking to a tight budget. I am still determined to try and get through to the end of the month anyway. I've £67.08 left currently.
Kids and DP had sausages in YS buns I got. And I had this....I think DP has had enough of sausage too he wanted the same 🤣

Whilst I am sat having a lazy afternoon I thought I would check my credit score.
Cr3dit karma tells me my score is 620/710. How can I make it higher? This is how...
£10k is what I have available in credit on cards etc
£15k is where they want me to be at...WHAT THIS MEANS
Your total credit limit is comprised of the credit limits from each of your credit accounts, like credit cards.
WHY THIS IS IMPORTANT
A higher credit limit can indicate to lenders that you’re a lower risk as a borrower. It can also be an indicator of your ability to manage unexpected expenses, and so it can help improve your credit score.
WHAT YOU CAN DO
Request a higher credit limit on existing accounts, or apply for new credit accounts. An overall credit limit of more than £15,000 would optimise this factor, but you should only take out as much credit as you can afford. More than £4,000 is a good start, but you should try to keep moving it up, as long as you can manage the debt.
UNBELIEVABLE> I have actually just closed 3 CC down, and reduced the limit on others and refused the n3xt account being put up to £5k instead of £3k.
I think this is irresponsible of them personally. ENCOURAGING people to take out debt, because let's face it how many have a high CC amount available and don't use it.......I'm not talking about MSE'rs
I am talking about those who don't really think about the spending (me a fair few years back)!
Anyway rant over.
Experian is 999!! Excellent apparently!
Clear score is 841/1000
It's taken me years to get it to a good score, I am happy enough with that without the temptation of another 5k of debt!
