I used to love the free version of YNAB (well one off payment). I still haven't trialled the new paid version. Once we move I might well do that as a new month starts.
I quite like a paper version as I'm a bit old school and have many pots (different bank accounts) so it's easier to see what I have. Your posts do always make it seem so good though (and Improved from when I used it) so I think I'm going to try it again at some point 😁MORTGAGE BALANCE when we moved Aug 2024, £120,000. Afternoon all,
I've spent a few hours cleaning and also reading a book. I can't help the nagging feeling of feeling so very lazy at the back of my mind!
We walked the dog and also popped in for a weekly check in with the solicitors. No news yet they will get someone to ring us with an update. Honestly I'm not expecting any progress but perhaps they can put some pressure on both ends to do their bits.
I have enough filling left from yesterday's dinner to do some more stuffed peppers for dinner so we will have that with a jacket potato, and some steamed broccoli for dinner. Well three out of four of us will, DD will probably end up with leftover pizza as I cannot be bothered arguing with her over eating vegetables tonight. I'm grateful both my son's eat everything in front of them and just one out of three is an awkward eater 🙄.
NSD today too! Woop...not kept a tally though so I've no clue if I made it to 15.. I definitely will have by the new month though. I've had a fair few.
DP also sold a few bits from his side line venture so made £80. I've told him to keep it as I've taken everything for the last month or two towards the move costs. So he can use it for expenses going forward.
So no money to add to the budget.
Ok off to read a bit more before I start dinner 😁MORTGAGE BALANCE when we moved Aug 2024, £120,000. January 1st £118,267.06. Morning all, well the skies started off blue here for once, they haven't stayed that way for long.
I'm going to put a wash on anyway and pray it is still dry when it's done.
Will be a NSD today as I'm not planning on doing anything outside of the house (except maybe some gardening if it stays dry)
Will make some spag bol later and maybe able to eek dinners out until tomorrow evening too. I've plenty of snacks and breakfast/ lunch stuff in just the dinners that I need to plan carefully.
Not much to report so will be off to start the huge wash pile I've amassed.MORTGAGE BALANCE when we moved Aug 2024, £120,000. January 1st £118,267.06. I've got two washes out on the line so far! All drying even though the weather has turned from sunny and blue to grey/ white and cloud cover all over. It's warm enough. I've been out in the garden having a clean up, cutting grass (didn't get far before battery died), weeding and throwing dead plants away and moving the ones I'm keeping to the end of the garden. I gave up after a while it was too back breaking...I will wait till DP or DS can help.
Those horrid black flies the size of dots are everywhere (thunder flies)..why do they itch so much when they're so small?!
I could spend another 50 hours out there and the garden probably would still need work doing on it ... It's made me think about gardening going into the new home with an even bigger back garden (although this one I have already has side and front garden so probably equals to the same amount of gardening work) and I have decided I want rid of most of the grass in the back garden of the new house..I can envisage a greenhouse being central to my plans (perhaps a FB bargain one) and lots of raised beds and pots. I think grass is so over rated (says my back) and the kids don't play out any more so I don't want the hassle with it.
The new garden is very long (think Victorian terrace type gardens) and slightly wider than the house (small drive) so I am thinking about splitting it up into different sections....small grass area for dog with flowers, summer house area (DP needs an office) and herb/ veg area with greenhouse maybe shingles and pots and raised beds....hmm...
Anyone else have sections in the garden and have mostly got rid of grass? I've always had grass because of kids but they're not bothered with it now....I think I don't spend much time out there because there are so many jobs to do and I find it overwhelming on my own (DP limit is cutting grass and he won't do that very often). Hmmm anyway food for thought as I potter around the garden looking at the current jungle look I have 😂. I've stopped for a cuppa and just realised I've spent hours out there!MORTGAGE BALANCE when we moved Aug 2024, £120,000. January 1st £118,267.06. I got rid of all the grass as DS got older.I have chips in the front garden. In the back garden I have two different areas of slabs & a couple of borders. In one there are wildflowers & the other one is currently weeds. There are a couple of nice bushes. I always liked the garden rooms idea. Doing the hard landscaping to break up the rooms seems to be the costly bit. Ton bag of gravel here is c£70. Bark melts. The plastic gravel grids over weed fabric and then filled with gravel are good. Worth keeping an eye out for end of season clearance stuff. My greenhouse was cheap and I painted it green etc. I see the odd pallet or paving stones free locally (lift yourself!) but not in any great volumeMy mortgage free diary: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6498069/whoops-here-comes-the-cheese

Well last night as I watched TV I had a message from Mr T....did you sign in? Someone has signed in at a new location....and it was on a different computer/ notepad to what we usually use.
They'd somehow got my password.
Mr T sign in is very old, oldest email I have and oldest password I use 😐🙄 cue me for the next two hours trying to change passwords on all the accounts that were apparently breached.
I'm assuming once into your account they would take seconds to steal any info they were after 😐. My bank card is attached to that. I don't know how worried I should be. But I'm slightly worried. I've changed password now and on a few other accounts that were flagged up as having the same password/ email combo. Really old ones like mums net / shops I never use any more 😳
Will do another check this morning once on my laptop but hopefully nothing will come from it?MORTGAGE BALANCE when we moved Aug 2024, £120,000. January 1st £118,267.06.
