I've been out all day, I dropped DD off into the city even though she was happy enough to get the train. I was already going. I'd had such a rubbish weekend moping about so I stole the car this morning and drove DD to meet her friend. Then I went on to my friends house for a catch up. I popped into see my sister on the way back through and then to Mr W as needed a couple of bits. I hadn't eaten all day by this point so kind of failed on the just buying milk and bread part. Grabbed a YS sandwich for me and some crisps too and well, it's expensive in there so spent just under £12!
Not too bad though could have been worse- I couldn't find the cake 😂

Our dinner went down well. DS even asked for the leftover one. Saved a fair bit there so let the kids have some fizzy pop from the coop to go with the birthday cake..so a few quid spent there this evening when we went out to collect DD dinner (pizza). I will tally it all up tomorrow and see what I have left in the bank. Been paid out again on the surveys so will also add that in- reckon I will have £50 spare at the end of the month to shuffle about somewhere.

Morning all, I finally got a dispatch notification for the presents no idea when they will arrive though!
DD had a great day anyway.
I need to do some money shuffling today and catching the budget up. Not much planned for today other than harassing solicitors (we've decided to harass just once a week to see where we are 😂) and cooking and washing.
Will report back on budget hoping to have enough left to buy food and also put some money into savings somewhere.
DP saw the removals man round yesterday whilst I was out for the last quote so hopefully we will get that in today as well.
My friend gave me a book to read yesterday which is great as the one I have on my phone is good but when I want to read later in the evening I'd rather not be looking at a screen so I will just have two books on the go. One kindle and one real book. I also found another book that had fallen down the back of the sofa that my sister lent me so will read that too before moving and give both back 😁...I think I will join the library when I move again. I went to join the local one and was really disappointed with it. It's a tiny space anyway and half has been turned into table space and computer space. Most books were for kids (which is great) and the other books were very sparse and nothing I would read so I didn't bother. But buying from CS although cheap. . means my shelves get filled and then overfilled! So would rather go back to lending.
Anyway I'm going to get moving as I've had a lazy morning so far.MORTGAGE BALANCE when we moved Aug 2024, £120,000. January 1st £118,267.06. Right I have written all spends down, done some maths and would you believe my maths said I should have £XX amount in my bank account and I had that to the exact £! This is a first for me
I have "spare money" in my current account, I think from hoarding the survey money / extra from low gas/ elec bill and me cancelling all s&s on prime. I have left the take out fund in tact and allowed the current account to pay for that. I also transferred a little extra out of the current account into the spare pot I have attached to the current account, easy access in case it is needed but out of sight.
Tallying up spends so far this month:
Birthday spends £209.44 - this breaks down to money transferred over to DDIL (50), nephew's card money (20), DD's account (50) and the rest is presents I bought for DD.
Food spends so far with yesterday's included is £428.85 with 9 days left until a new month's budget starts.
FLD food- 8.49/20
Take out food - 20/50 (I let the kids have some fizzy pop to go with their dinners yesterday so this is drinks & large pizza).
So there is extra money there. I am not going to send it to the EF or HMF I am going to leave it in the pots because the pots are all quite low...so that can sit there and grow hopefully.
I have some survey money pending still, around £20. I will use that to bolster pots too if it arrives this month.
Next month I will be hopefully able to pay more across to the EF once again. And the HMF should be complete as the bonus is due next week. I miscalculated our budget this month, I totally forgot to put mobile phones innot sure how I forgot those! Lucky for three mobiles it is only £20 so I transferred that across to the bills account every time we got pinged as being overdrawn
one actually got paid for from all the spare pennies that had been growing from rounding up bills each month so that was good
Okay, housework to do. Will put on some music and get the kids awake tooI will also do a meal plan up until Sunday with what we have in as a starting point and put together a small shop- hopefully under £40. Monday when I get my child benefit I will get another shop in to last until payday.

The birthday sounds like it was a success
I also had forgotten how fun stuffed peppers are so will make some - yours look great - I always have bits of brown rice left over so..
Well done on your exactnessI use YNAB which has really worked for me as I was great at making a budget and filling my pots but by mid month I had moved everything and I could never be bothered to review what I spent where. Whereas YNAB has that covered so easily - I just need to ensure now I only spend when I have money in various pots.. rather than spending and covering the over spend out my pots or worse the next payment of invoice. I do like seeing in an instance how much cashback £104.34 or goodwill payment £40 I have over the 8 months since I started
Do you have a recipe for your flapjacks?
DON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)
No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff. Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.

ohh stuffed peppers I haven't had those in years. They look delicious.Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!1
