  • Afternoon all,

I did in fact get a NSD yesterday! So I am up to 2/15 NSD now. :joy: slow and steady wins the race eh.
I dropped DS off to his taster day, collected my nephew along the way and another home school kid met them at the gates, so at least DS knows 2 people there. My sister seems to think there will be a lot of kids from their primary school that my nephew and DS will know too so I have everything crossed my FLS (fussy little son just like my FLD  ) comes out happy.

I went off shopping afterwards as once again I forgot to book a slot online, I am not sure where my head is at these days. Anyway I took my BIL he is much stronger and feeling better since finishing chemo but still tires quite easily so I offered to take him with me so he could get all the heavy bits in one go and the car could carry it home instead of him.
so £98.58 spent in Mr T which I think is pretty good going considering I was in the shop and was being seduced by everything around me

By the time I dropped BIL off and came home (got stuck behind a tractor for ten miles  ) I ate brunch, put shop away and will have to leave again in an hour. I will have a quick tidy around though first and take the dog with me so he can be walked whilst we wait for kids to finish school. My sister and BIL want to come with me too to collect them so I will get them enroute. Hopefully enough room in the car for everyone.

I totally forgot it is my older nephew's birthday! Today!! So I will get him a card out and go get some money out the cashpoint and stick it in the card. He is 20 so i'm sure he just wants beer money instead of a present  I will take that out of the birthday funds.

Need to get on to solicitors and chase up our email we sent last week to see if we are any further on knowing if the dates we put forward are doable for completion. Fingers crossed once again that they are!

Nothing else to report really, I have been trying to spend as little as possible, we've been decluttering and tidying like crazy and packing loft/ garage / garden bits so haven't done an awful lot. I am thinking of holding back our YBS savings for the moment, I might transfer those to the EF/ MF category & account instead...was waiting on solicitors to make that call. BIL suggested we get a van and do it between us all.......I have one teak unit that weighs about a tonne (feels like it anyway) one Victorian chest of drawers the same and huge sofas....after just those four bits I think I would be done. As well as DP and BIL. Never mind a thousand plus books, records, other furniture and white goods. so I said thanks but no thanks. I am happy to hand over savings and make someone else carry all my furniture and books. I will just tell people where I want it all :joy: Some things are worth going major money saving over and some things just aren't.

So looking forward to moving though, I went to the local Mr T today and bumped into some old friends and familiar faces and I won't miss driving at 20mph behind tractors all the way home once we move just down the road from the shops

Right best be off and do a few jobs before I need to leave again!

  • First of July but our month starts 25th June-24th July this month (payday to payday) I'd love to get to the point where we have enough money to shift our month from 1-30/31 but we're not there yet 🤣🥲

We had no choice but to self move (with no local family, and two toddlers!) as we exchanged and completed unexpectedly a couple of days before Christmas. The TV got broken and, at the time, paying someone insured to move us would have been cheaper...

next time I move I will declutter and I will pay someone to pack and move us.

This happened to us two moves ago!
I moved us with my ex ...he ended up having to work for two days and I did the majority with my teenage son. I was broken afterwards and I had to give a load of stuff to charity that I didn't want to as we ran out of time with the hire van and had no money to extend it. It was horrible. I ended up with no sofas (went to charity as they didn't fit in the van), no washing machine (we couldn't lift it) and we had a box of broken stuff too. The last move I had a few things broken because we used a man with a van and he didn't want to know about breakages.

So...this time...it's why I'm being so on it with decluttering and saving because I think it will be totally worth handing savings over (at least I hope so  ).

That sounds traumatic- I always pay men to move me as I have so much heavy stuff!
But my decluttering has started again
    DON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)
No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff.    Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.

    It was traumatic 🤣
I can laugh now...but back then I was like ummm we saved a grand on removals (cross country) BUT I now need a new washing machine AND sofas so we actually lost money.
Never ever again  I learned my lesson there.
I have also learned the lesson of removals quote on how much stuff you have (obviously) and just how much stuff am I paying for to move from home to home that goes straight into a loft or garage that will never see the light of day because we don't actually want or need it.....hence my crazy over the top declutter mission this time before moving! We've made some good money back too towards the removals just for getting rid of stuff we don't want. So win win.

I am praying this will be our last move for a long time though it is tiring work.

  • Morning all, so I've already dropped DS off to his new school this morning. Got stuck in super slow traffic again. I find driving in rush hour so frustrating. It's an almost 16 mile drive and when it's quiet it takes only 30 minutes. But in peak times it can be 45-50 minutes. Especially when tractors are on the road too and large lorries. I got stuck behind both this morning 🤣. I had left earlier though so it was okay I sat happily doing 30mph instead of 60 for half the drive....sigh!
    Patience is not my virtue.

Anyway he's dropped off and I am home. I need to sort through lots of clothes that were washed at the weekend that I didn't have time to put away or iron.
I need to prep dinner and walk the dog.
Then I'm going to run the hoover around and it will be time to leave to collect DS again. I want to pop into the charity shop en route to drop a few bits too as well as maybe have a little nosey around 🤣 *whilst chanting must not buy anything till I move*.

It's cold and miserable and grey and wet here. Where is summer?

DDIL cards were sent yesterday I am trying to establish whether DS1 bank account is the same as the last time I gave him money but he's not replying. I was going to transfer across some money for DDIL rather than send it In a card.

DP has started a new vision board because most of ours has already manifested. I've kept the main bits on a small board though as they haven't quite come to fruition yet 😉 and allowed him to take the second board to manifest a new job. He went out with his boss last week and the boss spoke to him about a new role that was coming up. Although the job description hadn't been done yet he was encouraging DP to apply for it. So DP is going to make a vision board with the job description he wants for a new role. 🤣 And if it comes about this is matching what the boss thinks he will apply. He quite likes his job now so there isn't any issues if he doesn't go for it. Or if he goes for it and he doesn't get it. But I think he's quite excited about the prospect of a new challenge. It would be similar pay but different bonus structures so doesn't matter really to me with the budget so I've told him to do whatever makes him happy. We will see though, he works for a global company and the new job could take some time to evolve as we saw from the job he went for before.... Still it's always good to have something on the vision board to aim towards.

Right ok I'm cold, I'm off to put the heating on and get some jobs done! Might warm me up a little! 😊

  • I'm back and I didn't get a NSD! Oops.
I decided to have a look in a couple of charity shops whilst dropping some bits off. I found the bargain bin 😆 and I now have a nice pair of barely worn Gabor heeled boots to go under my jeans and a sea salt top also barely worn. Took them to the till to be told the shoes were actually double what was on the tag but she could see someone had put a tag on for £2....so she rang them up as that anyway 😁 and the top was £1 in the sale. So £3! Definitely worth breaking a NSD for.

I also popped into Mr T as needed the loo tbh but decided to get the kids a treat for doing their taster days and a little celebration for finishing GCSE's for DD so a few quid spent on some cupcakes for them.

Nothing too outrageous but I will try and get my NSD streak up to 4 by the weekend.

Need to transfer some cash over for DDIL still. DS1 is a nightmare for replying to messages. He can honestly take weeks to respond! I get he's busy...but....c'mon! I will just have to message DDIL instead...was hoping it would be a surprise though by sending via DS.

I've put jacket spuds in for dinner. I feel wiped out. I've been fighting some sort of skin infection for a few weeks now and DP and I think it's from switching from our usual washing brands to cheaper ones (me trying to be MSE) and it's causing a rash which has become very sore and itchy and infected and inflamed. Since realising what it was I've tried to switch back to the old one but I have lots of items in my wardrobe now that are washed in the cheaper one and I have to keep rewashing stuff. It's really making me feel tired and grumpy though as it's so sore. I've bought some pre and probiotics, liver support tablets and also some cream which seems to be helping but I guess my point here is MS isn't always helpful 🤣 I've ended up spending double now on washing stuff because I swapped from the gentle one (we use ecover) to cheap Mr T non bio and also all the creams and supplements. I also believe the food FLD was on may have caused his inflammation in his liver. So we ended up buying double the amount of dog food and giving away an almost brand new bag of food to get him new more expensive (low fat) food. Let's not talk about the expensive vet bill 🤣

So lesson learned is...stick to what we like. Budget better? 🤣 Or cut back on items that really don't matter so much.

We popped into the solicitors and it seems the hold up on responses was the solicitor has had two days off! So we had another one call us after we left, our buyers need to raise enquiries still. And we need the seller of our new house to respond to enquiries his end. So I've chased our buyers up and DP has a good rapport with the seller of new house so he's chased him up. Not much else we can do. Our solicitors seem to be on the ball (probably because we're on to them so much 🤣) we've asked the solicitors to try and get some responses so that we know yes or no if the middle of August is on or not. We don't particularly mind either way, obviously we'd all love it done sooner but if not we're okay with it.... we'd just like to know is all. I don't want to start packing too soon (or too late lol).

Right I can hear the jacket pots pinging in the air fryer. Best go sort some salad and beans out for it. 😊

My last two moves were with friends and my horsebox but they were moves to a rental and then back here.  What my period living in the rental taught me was how much more at peace I am without the clutter hence my clearing here now I am back.   If and when I move again I hope I will have decluttered sufficiently for a company to do it with ease.
Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!
