They're packing up as their dad has decided he wants to meet today now. So will take them in the next hour or so...three hours round drive ... already feeling tired at the thought of it.
Nevermind I will hopefully get a good night's sleep tonight minus noisy teenagers 🤞😁)
DON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)
No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff. Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.

Well done getting your teenagers up, I feel bad for my mum she was constantly on my case for being loud around the house at night I would have the telly on, I put it quieter but she wanted peace and quiet, I guess she has been resting more since I left which was quite a while ago now....However now the shoe is on the other foot, I am in flat with noisy neighbours, not unbearably so at present but more noise then I would like sometimes.1

Every so often I really want to run through their bedrooms banging a saucepan with a wooden spoon. They still wouldn't get it but it'd make me smile. My mortgage free diary: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6498069/whoops-here-comes-the-cheese

My DS often finishes his second job after 11 but then decides to have a shower and cook something to eat - you have my sympathy! And he sleeps deeply so unless I am actually in his room singing he would never notice my payback.Mortgage OP 2025 £6250/7000Mortgage OP 2024 £7700/7000

Ah thanks for popping in all
The kids got off safely to their dads and both are looking forward to the concert they are going to tomorrow or Friday (forget which day now)....it took me nearly 4 hours round trip because of traffic. I was shattered when I got home but DP had made me a really lovely sausage casserole which I greatly appreciated. He'd been left in charge of FLD who was being very sick yesterday and we wondered what he had possibly eaten to make him sick.
Well by the time I got home he had been sick some more.
We call him fussy little dog because he has a very particular diet which costs a small fortune because he is so sensitive to everything. Plus he is plain fussy too.
Anyway he was not very well but he was keeping water down and still moving around ok. By bedtime he had gone down hill though and was very lethargic. We took it in turns staying up with him for most of the night, so my tired is tired today.
We took him to the vets early this morning and they are doing blood tests and keeping him in and putting him on an IV. We are now suspecting food has poisoned him. Possibly something off the kids plates- possibly onions but we can't be sure. Vet was very kind and said he would do all he could but signs were not great and he is very old (fld) and well, I feel in a bit of a daze to be honest.
He is often sick so I thought nothing of it, he throws up for a good few hours, we stay up with him and then he is always alright. But today was different he was even worse by early morning. I am feeling quite guilty now for not rushing him straight inI did give him some activated charcoal though so I am hoping it helped to clear out whatever was in there.
We of course, have no insurance. I wasn't able to renew once before when he was sick and I needed to claim. They put the premium up to over £60 and I was a single mum and simply couldn't afford that each month. Then I couldn't get accepted anywhere else for any less, and it wouldn't actually cover what I needed it to, blah blah blah. You know how it goes. I had good intentions of saving a little each month to pay for this eventuality but I never had it spare.
So, we all know where this is going, I need to take it out of my EF/ House Moving fund. The bill as it stands with blood tests, IV drip and some anti sickness and a few other small things is already £320. That is without the blood test results and anything else that may be needed. So we can't quite relax just yet on the savings front........Of course he is worth it but we don't even know if they can make him better
Had some bad news yesterday too that someone close to the family passed away, and also my best friend messaged me simultaneously, she had been told she wasn't allowed to see anyone and is neutropenic. I hadn't even heard of that term until I googled it. So I won't be able to see her for a while. I am praying her mother makes it over safely to her to help as my friend has a young daughter who needs caring for. Gosh........it never rains but pours huh. I pray that is all the bad news/ luck we will get now and that is it...........but I won't hold my breath just yet. Today will definitely not be a NSDwell unless they keep fld overnight in which case tomorrow will be the spendy day.
Brain feels fried and I am quite literally glued to my phone now waiting on a call. I think another cup of tea is needed to wake me up and then maybe I will distract myself with some cleaning and tidying.

Thank you both 🙏
I've heard back from the vet and he has an issue with his liver. Not food poisoning as I thought initially. Which is a relief. He's already perked up after being on an IV drip for a few hours (most of the morning and up to now) they want to keep him until closing time but have asked us if we want to leave him there or take him home this evening. There is no staff that stay there overnight so I've said we will take him home which they agreed is probably best so we can try and get him to eat as he's refused food there so far (I tried to say he was fussy 😬). He needs tablets. I have to pay for the IV and the blood tests, anti sickness and consultation but hopefully that is it as he's not staying over. He's worth it though ☺️ I'm hoping he's back to his old self very soon.
I'll worry about the money we're short for everything we need to pay for on pay day 🤣MORTGAGE BALANCE when we moved Aug 2024, £120,000. January 1st £118,267.06.
