I did make my NSD! And I also came in under budget for our food but way over budget for dog food which ended up cancelling out our savings *ugh* anyway he's got enough now for a while.
Our EF has gone down slightly as you can see. I won't cry about it I'm being grateful I have it.
I'm aiming for 3k but after hearing some quotes from removals I think I only need 2800 in total but will still keep aiming for the 3000 just in case.MORTGAGE BALANCE when we moved Aug 2024, £120,000. Afternoon all, payday was yesterday but we shuffled some cash about this morning as didn't have time yesterday.
So EF £150 moved across (this sits at £2423.36 now).
Birthday/ Xmas has another £150 moved across too.
Over a grand into the bills account.
I've had to order some bits online for DD prom, new packing tape with dispenser, some new shower heads for new house, and a few subscriptions came out too.
I've also spent £84.44 on bits for DD prom on Friday - a new hair curler, some mousse and hairspray, some fake tan and I just took her into town and she now has a nice set of acrylic nails. DP was like, are you getting yours done too, and I looked at the price and said no thanks 🤣 I'd rather keep the forty quid and get my hands dirty gardening 😆.
I hope that's all the expenses out the way for her prom now. (I pray it is!)
I've also ordered her some new shoes for school she has induction days/ taster days tomorrow and Friday. I've also ordered shirts for both kids from n3xt but they've been delayed so they won't be here on time for DD although might make it for Monday for DS taster days.
I wish I were more organised with all this stuff, but then I wouldn't be me I guess 😆 I am always so last minute dot com on everything. Oh well.
Oh, oh, oh!! I haven't updated have I!!
DP went to measure up the house we've offered on yesterday evening as we still really want to move there so we'd agreed we will just wait as long as it takes..I didn't go as I was exhausted from the heat and the kids were at air cadets and I just wanted to flake out in the bath. So I did. 🤣 Anyway I digress, DP came back at around 10 pm he'd been gone for hours! And I wasn't sure what had taken so long, but he does like to chat. Anyhow, our seller had had an offer accepted on an auction property yesterday afternoon! So he was filling out the buyers pack when DP turned up! WOOP!! And as it is an auction property they need the sale to go through and complete within 56 days (ideally!) which is brilliant news for us.
So I've been on to the solicitors this morning to see where we are at with things progressing and the likelihood we will be able to exchange and complete in time..still waiting to hear back. And I've messaged our buyers to let them know the news and make sure they're okay with that timescale and they are getting on to their solicitors too! So great news all round at the moment 😃 I'm very relieved and happy as it is our favourite house by a mile from all we've viewed.
So this month will be a tight month now that all prom expenses are out the way because we really need to save that removals money.
DD has her birthday and DDIL too but I have money in the account for that. I shouldn't have too many other surprises because both kids are off school now, so no surprise trips or anything from there. And camp is paid for for air cadets and they provide most of the camping kit so we should be good *fingers crossed*
Right anyway best go cut DD hair and find her something cool enough to wear tomorrow as the shirts we bought her are very heavy cotton so she needs a blouse really (which I had ordered but won't be here now! Suppose at least the shoes turned up and are suitable).MORTGAGE BALANCE when we moved Aug 2024, £120,000. January 1st £118,267.06. Thanks all I'm still super hyper from the good news!
DD is off to her trial day at the sixth form today. She was super nervous bless her but walked off smiling anyway. I will collect her later and I've arranged for her to do just a half day tomorrow as she wants time to get ready for prom. She'll be happy that I finally made the call to sort it (little miss last minute dot com strikes again 😆).
It will be hopefully my first NSD today.
This weekend I am activating my packing planner/ declutter/ countdown that I have 😊 I said to DP that one thing I'm noticing is just how little energy I have compared to my 20 year old self these days 🤣 I know not a surprise....but I kept saying to him it will be fine I used to pack a house in three days!! It will be fine. Then I decided that I don't have that energy any more so instead of three days I've changed it to two months 🤣.
So I already did the kitchen and decluttered it hugely and I've packed the garage up, next on the list is emptying the loft into the garage now that I have space for it. Also the large cupboard I have in my room. Then I can get some quotes for removals in July.
We still haven't heard from our solicitors yet so unsure if the date we're all aiming for is a go! or no! But we are aiming for that anyway.
Our buyers are popping round quickly later so that they can drop off some doorknobs. I have sourced some beautiful vintage ceramic ones for this house and was happy (well not really but I was willing 😆) to leave them behind but I said to our buyers please be honest I know they're not everyone's cup of tea, if you don't like them and will replace please let me come and claim them when you remove or bring some new ones and we will fit them for you before we hand over. So she thankfully said she didn't like them really and was happy to replace them 😊😊 so I was happy with that. Shabby chic, vintage cottage type decor isn't for everyone and YAY I get to keep them 🤣. So I suppose I ought run the hoover around in case she wants to come in.
I'm being good and writing all spends down every day so far. Will try and keep this up as we will be tight on money now to reach our savings goals.
@beanielou I actually said to DD prom costs may have to go towards your birthday spends and I will buy you one present as well (not too much) and she was happy with that so I'm pleased. I think she wants trainers for her birthday which are probably 80 quid so that's plenty of money spent on her.
Okay best get off and tidy up the house quickly. At least the bits where the buyer might come in to.MORTGAGE BALANCE when we moved Aug 2024, £120,000. January 1st £118,267.06. Great news on the house on the big scale and the doorknobs on the small. Wahoo.Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!1 -
Thanks Watty ☺️
I got my NSD yesterday. 1/15!
Today I might possibly get another...I will see. I'm playing taxi today, have already done two hours of driving back and forth for DD to her taster day. She's had a great time though so I'm really happy and just hope her grades are enough to get her in now! She's already made a friend or two.
I collected her early and have helped apply some fake tan (second lot) as she decided to burn herself in the sun the other day and looks a little like a lobster still. Her dress is red too. So....I thought a couple of fake tan applications might blend it. Not having much luck on the decollete and shoulder area yet though 🤣. The rest has blended nicely though and looks bronzed.
I've also fed her her dinner, pizza and salad with hummus and fried chickpeas. I've paid for a three course meal for her but she has already told me she has no intention of touching it as the veggie option is butternut squash with something or other. So thought it best to feed her. I'm not sure why they insist on three course meals that most kids won't touch for these proms. Her friends are saying the same for the Omni choice.
So yes, anyway, I have her prom to take her to and drive back, then DS to air cadets and collect and then collect her. I think I am refusing to drive tomorrow at all after all this 🤣 and the prom is a good 30-40 min drive...
I've spent my day in between all that making a to-scale floorplan of my new house. Then making scaled versions of all my furniture to see if it all fits 🤣 I've got little bits of paper with sofa and table 1 and record cupboard and fridge etc written on lol. It looks like one room there will be a squeeze for furniture but it should fit the main stuff and I will have to just put the excess in other rooms. It's made me feel a bit better about all the furniture I have left and I don't think I need to downsize any more 😊. And tbh it was quite fun playing with it.
Tomorrow is still emptying loft day I think. So perhaps I can get another NSD in.
No news on solicitors but I will wait until Monday now to chase it up.
Not much else to report really. Have to go do DD hair in a bit as we need to leave here quite early to get there on time and I want some pictures too first.

DD had a fantastic time at her prom! Poor thing had bad sunburn though and is peeling pretty bad now. She's gone off to bowling with a friend though.
DS is up in his room and I'm not sure he's left since yesterday dinnertime. I've pre warned him he needs an early night for his taster day tomorrow.
We got the loft emptied yesterday and packed nicely into the garage. Threw out a few bits but most was done already. Also emptied out the largest cupboard in the house into the garage too. I can start getting some quotes in for removals over the next few weeks.
DP and I were exhausted yesterday evening and collapsed tired onto sofas in front of a movie at around 8pm. Half hour in he'd dozed off and I was not far behind 🤣 so we both went off to bed and slept for twelve hours straight! Feeling much better today and nothing planned either so just a nice lazy day, eating some good foods, watching a bit of TV and scouring Pinterest for ideas when I move 😊 hope everyone else is having a good weekend even if the sun seems to have disappeared.
Oh and I've not had a nsd yet this weekend as needed new supplements so ordered some online.MORTGAGE BALANCE when we moved Aug 2024, £120,000. January 1st £118,267.06.
