Flowers in the attic was a SENSATION back in the day. I remember reading it agog as to what would happen next. Not many titles of books stay in my mind but that and petals on the wind i still remember and I think I'd have read them in the 80s?
Yup just checked, written in 1979 and 1980 so I'm sure it was somewhere in early 80s I read them, only a 18 or 19yr old myself at the time.
I recently started watching the TV film, it was dreadful so I only got about 10 mins in and deleted it. Maybe I should reread it. Sometimes you just don't enjoy them second time round. I reread the curse of the kings by Victoria holt as a teenager and adored it. Possibly my first grown up book. Many years later treated myself to a second read and it was so hokey 😆

Oh I don't think I realised the book was as old as me! I read it early 90s when I was probably around 11 or so. I used to raid my mum's bookcase and take the books to school with me 🤣 not sure they were all age appropriate but anyway I enjoyed the series by Virginia Andrews and read all I could find of hers after that 😃 the book is very good still all these years later!daisy_1571 said:Flowers in the attic was a SENSATION back in the day. I loved that book and the others by her. All my friends read it too, so it must have been while I was still at school! Never saw the film, although I knew they had made one.

Afternoon all,
I am today going to start with the positives from my day because I am well aware how negative I am being/ feeling (and I am also alright with that because no one can be up all the time but need to shift my thinking now). So my day at work was varied and interesting and I enjoyed it. I have been invited to an interview, which I have booked which is next Tuesday (another job in the college). Dinner is prepped for later. Those are my positives 😊.
Negatives- My brain is telling me I am too stoopid for the interview /job and I won't have any of the right answers and I can't do the job 😬 Interview is TWO hours long- WTH!!!????! I am panicking and regretting my decision already and thinking I can't do it 🙈.
And my friend messaged earlier with some awful news and I haven't been able to get hold of her since.
DD and I had an argument yesterday (actually she just shouted at me and told me how bad I made her feel when she didn't eat her dinner 🙄 whilst I got upset).
I have one week to either prep for the interview or pull out so they can invite someone else......need to decide whether or not I think I can do it. Surely they wouldn't have offered me interview if my skillset was lacking? Or do they have to interview internal applicants even if we don't fit?

They have invited you for an interview as you have clearly demonstrated that you have the skill set that they are looking for. It appears from reading your diary that you have a good reputation within college, tutors often asking for you to be in their class, students wanting you to support them. I think you are feeling low or not worthy of the appointment due to what you’ve experienced personally lately. You are under a huge amount of pressure at the moment. Your feelings in response to the interview could be a knee jerk reaction, but please take time for yourself before you decide. Please ignore if I’ve overstepped.Love 🐞

Everything Ladybird said! 😊
Plus, if it’s that long an event it won’t just be an interview! I would get in touch with them and ask what the two hours in made up of and can you do any appropriate prep for it 😊
Congratulations on the interview invite too! 👏

Congratulations on getting the interview! That is a great achievement in itself. And they definitely wouldn’t be interviewing you if they didn’t think you had a chance, it would be a waste of both of your time. Even if you use the interview as a learning experience it’s definitely worth going to.2

Agree with all the above.
As far as I know there's no organisation that decides they have to interview internally even if the person doesn't fit the spec from the application form.
Therefore it follows that what you put it the application form covers enough of the job spec that you get an interview.
When I was sifting for interviews we went through the form applying a mark for each thing they wrote that matched, add up the marks and the top x many get to the interview stage (x depending on how many jobs were to be filled)
So put that out your mind, you deserve the interview.
Now: interview focus- remember its as much about you deciding if the job and work environment would suit you as them deciding if you suit it.
Definitely ask for information about the 2 hours. Maybe theres an in tray exercise? Not much you can do to prepare for that. Maybe there's a tour of the work place, again no prep. Maybe there's to be a group exercise, again no prep. But maybe its something that you can look at, read about, investigate so Definitely ask.
Plot your route on the day, parking too. Get your clothes out now and check them. All this will help you feel prepared.
At the end of the day though its 2 hours out your life, no one is going to give you a row for turning up - they invited you ! - if the job isn't what you thought it was turn it down, if the job seems great you are in with a chance, if its meh well it might still be better than you are currently doing. Its natural to be nervous but don't let that over power what could be a good thing.
Good luck
