I'm so over this hot weather. 🥵
I've cleaned the carpet in the front room twice. My god. It was filthy. I cannot wait to replace that. I reckon I could do a third run over it and it would still come out grimy. 🤢
I've also cleaned all the sofas and chairs as the builders dust seems to have settled in everything and everywhere so they've been hoovered and cleaned.
I'm officially exhausted now and covered in rug Dr solution after pouring it all over me.
DP is grumpy and up a ladder sanding and painting the new kitchen. I'm stopping for the day I've had enough now. New sofa hasn't yet arrived.....🤔 We do live very close to the shop so I'm hoping it's still coming and we are just the last delivery....MORTGAGE BALANCE when we moved Aug 2024, £120,000. It also meant the paint dried quicker too and the washing on the line so I wasn't waiting around for stuff all day.
New sofa arrived at nearly 5pm as I thought we were the last stop as we were so close to the warehouse it came from. I gave that a clean too as I had rug Dr solution left in the machine. So everything is clean...I did the front room carpet again and 🤢 I really need to just replace that.
Hopefully everything down there is properly dry especially the sofas as we had nothing to sit on last night 😆 we ended up on the bed watching netfl1x at around 7pm.
Today the kitchen is due and we are one of the first deliveries! We're miles away from their depot so I knew we would be as we usually are 😁. Can't wait!
Also I ordered a new dining table and chairs last night and did a pay in three. It's second hand but still cost a four hundred quid with delivery. I was getting too annoyed looking at FB and the cheap ones on there. DP did suggest we get a van and buy one but many were far away and I'd also have to lift it which I'm certain will throw my back out and a lot needed tlc and when you added van, fuel, paint or varnish and cost of table and chairs into it there wasn't a lot in it so I stopped looking and just did it. This set has been sanded and stained on top and then painted on legs and chairs in a colour that I hope will compliment my kitchen 🤞🏻☺️ (think farmhouse cottage vibes). The delivery won't happen for a month it says on there so plenty of time to sort kitchen anyway.
I listed an old sofa last night on FB and had a few bites already I'm hoping one commits to it and takes it I have set the price very low and think it's worth way more as it's in excellent condition... i just don't want it any more 🫣🙈😆.
Ok off to wait for that delivery!MORTGAGE BALANCE when we moved Aug 2024, £120,000. January 1st £118,267.06. Morning diaryland. Not much in the way of nsd or OPs or saving going on over here, feel a bit of a fraud on this site lately 🤔🙈😆.
Yesterday we went swimming - to cool down. We were absolutely done in after putting cupboards together all day. We were first on the delivery so we had the carport filled with boxes by 8;00! We spent all day doing it up to about 4 pm. I collected DD from work at 3 and she was so hot and bothered I suggested swimming as we have membership and don't need to pay and can just go and cool down and use sauna etc ...well we went by 5 and were out by 6 and I had decided to swim. I did 20 laps 😃! I was so impressed with myself and I even promoted myself from slow lane to medium paced lane! However I got out the pool after the last lap and I could barely walk my legs were like jelly 🤣. I used the sauna and steam room until we were all starving and wanted to go home. I cooked an easy fajita and wedges for dinner.
Today then - we have all the guide rails to put on the wall. I've suggested for ease DP go and buy a laser line guide as I don't have the energy to listen to swearing about walls not being straight today. 🤣
The guide rail will go up then we have to put legs on all the cupboards and hang them in place. Once we have done that it all needs shifting about so it's in place properly and securing. Then we will move onto the upper cupboards and do the same. Doors can go on the upper cupboards but the lower ones we will wait until the work surfaces are put on- they arrive tomorrow so the plan is to have the kitchen ready for the work surfaces to lay straight on as they're all precut!
It sounds easy enough. I know kitchens are never this easy though having seen three put in previous to this one 🤣🙈. The floor is even at least as the floor guy has laminated all the way under the cupboards for us to make it even it will just be the walls to moan about today and the house is almost 100 years old...so here we go with that one 😬.
Dinner will be out of the fridge and if it's hot later I will pop to the pool again but more for a quick dip rather than a full on swim session like yesterday..I also want to book an induction for the gym too at some point. I looked through the window and gyms look a big upgraded from the last time I regularly went 15 years ago 🙈🤣.
DD is mad. She has gone swimming this morning again! I'm loving that she is getting the use out of her membership but also that she has returned to swimming! She was my little water baby and used to be in the city swim team competing until covid ruined everything. So I'm really happy she's gone back to it 😍. She goes in the fast lane and is up and down to my half a lap 🤣 and she tells me 'im so slow now' 😆 I don't think so...I hadn't done even half the lap when I watched her go up and down barely making a splash.
Not heard from either DS. Sometimes I wish I'd had three DDs. DSs both seem to grow up so reliant on mum and wanting mummy there for everything and then they go through puberty hating me and then barely speaking to me ... It's heartbreaking. I will keep messaging both I guess and wait for the elusive rare messages that come in every now and then.
Right off for a cuppa and crack on with this kitchen I can't wait to actually have a working kitchen again I'm very excited!MORTGAGE BALANCE when we moved Aug 2024, £120,000. January 1st £118,267.06. Have always wanted a laser thingyMade it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!1 -
Now then, away with the imposter syndrome! You may not have been saving, OPing or NSDing but you *have* been controlling budget and project! Stop being so hard on yourself … 😉
(Btw, I can relate, as my OPs have pretty much ground to a halt due to work we are doing on our paths this summer - I keep having to hold back on significant OPs I would normally make ‘just in case’ … 🤷♀️😉😊).Yaay for DD enjoying swimming so much. That will really help her stress levels and confidence too 😊❤️
Good luck with the cupboards. Just keep saying ‘scribe it in’ to DP if he starts ranting about wonky walls! 😉😂

I've put all the feet on the cupboards and am sat watching DP with the laser thing it's pretty good and it shows where all the walls are wonky....cue the groans 😆 however I am hoping by the end of today I should have all cupboards hung top and bottom (kinda glad at this point we don't have a huge kitchen) we can't figure out how the dishwasher is integrated as we can't find a cupboard to fit it 😆. I'm sure we will figure it out.... 🤞🏻
There are five cupboards that need a bit of butchering to fit properly around extractor, pipes and other bits so that will be where progress slows down I think.
The worktops are due tomorrow so I'm hoping we are ready for them....
I maybe sold a sofa too she's said she has a van and will message later. I want the space more than the money right now however the money will pay for the other sofa we just got (which we love and is far more my style!) so will have recouped costs on that and delivery and a bit extra.MORTGAGE BALANCE when we moved Aug 2024, £120,000.
